Blew tire over a month ago while in Tacoma for the weekend. Always prefer a small local company to the corporations so was happy to find Jeff's nearby. Day after return to Portland tire failed. Pinhole was found and repaired by our neighborhood used tire shop. I contacted Jeff and was referred to a manager regarding their 30 day guarantee. She said I had to talk to the owner and left a message for him. Jeff never called back. Called and he was on vacation. Called again after his vacation and was referred to manager again. She left another message for Jeff 5 days ago. Still no word. Such a simple thing, reimbursing a customer for the $20 repair of a faulty product. Would've been so easy for staff to do it the first time I called. Having a small company under perform and then act like a corporation is the worst of both worlds. Also, they quoted a higher price over the phone than they charged in person, and would not honor the quote. read more

I went in and bought rims and tires for my motorhome and they installed the wrong ones causing the rear whee to fall off on the highway. I have tried to remedy the situation with them and just get them to make it right but can't get in touch with the owner after weeks of trying. if you are wanting rims or tires get them somewhere else they will destroy your vehicle read more

After catching road debris in the tread wall of my truck tire I went on the hunt for that 1 matching tire. I was in no place to put a new set of tires on this old truck at the moment. We came in an hour before they closed with two vehicles in front of us. A gentleman by the name of Mark informed us that he'll take a look and see what's going on but also reminded us that they still had to finish the cars ahead of us. We patiently waited and they eventually checked our tire. They found a very large screw. They took the time to repair it so that we would safe driving home. While they could have easily turned us away when we first arrived, they didn't. We are forever grateful that our tire is fixed and we are relieved that we don't have to worry about anything happening on the freeway. Leaving work a little after 5PM and my car tells me low tire pressure upon starting. I check the drivers side rear tire and of course it's flat. No spare tire, my car had an electric pump and I was able to refill the tire with air. Driving off I could hear the screw hitting the concrete. I yelped tire shops nearby and of course the major chains were closed or closing soon. I found Jeff's tire shop and it was open later than the others. Being open later was a win for me. I was able to make it to their shop and was greeted promptly upon arrival. They got me patched up and unfortunately I had two objects in my tire. The extra patch was only $5 more and I found out not only are they open later than the other tire shops, they are open 7 days a week! Fast and friendly service I highly recommend!! I have safety lug nuts on my tires and they completely torqued them down way to tight. The next time they tries to pull my tire off the stripped my key for the safety lugs. They told me it was the previous shop that worked on my tires that did it.............. well that was them so they stripped it. I ordered new ones and the lugs are so tight that it won't remove the safety lugs and just continues to strip the key. read more

Also Jeff was incredibly rude, when I agreed to pay for the tire this dude for real flashes his flash lIght onto a piece of paper that states cash only. I'd reccomend Jeff's Used Tires to anyone. After I discovered my Ford Ranger had a flat, I went into Jeff's on a Saturday at the reccomendation of my coworker. I'm glad I did. I had a great experience all around. I pulled up and was attended to quickly. One of the technicians took me back into the yard and showed me a few options for my truck. I chose the one he reccomended, which he said was the most similar to the other three tires on the truck and was and was the least expensive. I paid for it with cash and was told there was a 30 day window to replace the tire if it was defective. I was pleased with this policy. With tax, it came to about $50, which I thought was reasonable, considering the excellent, quick service I received. While I waited, they tested the tire and installed it on my truck quickly. I had tires placed on my car, and I noticed vibrations. It nearly shook me off the road on the return trip to the business. I got there, and there was a missing lug nut on my front left tire. I called three times and spoke with employees to have the owner call me back. He never did, and there was no refund or any compensation for the gas to make the return trip. Check your lug nuts on every tire at this establishment. I am very lucky that I did not crash the car due to the faulty work and irresponsibility of the staff and carelessness of the owner. read more

I showed up here with an emergency blow out just a few minutes before they were about to close for the night. But the guy working was was more than glad to stay late and help me out. He found a matching tire double checked it, and put it on my car all in about 15 minutes. For a used tire it was in fine shape and they guarantee it for a week or something as well. I've been to Jeff's several times over the years and always get good service! They've always been willing to patch a leaking tire if it's safe to do so even though it earns them less money, because they value a customer relationship over immediate profit. I went in today and got two new tires for the front of my truck, and rotated an old front tire to a new rim I bought from them as well, I got both tires and the rim for $200, and the tires are almost new and a matching set, so on the more expensive end of what they offer. I talked to Jeff and mentioned that my rears were destudded snow tires, and he said he wouldn't worry about it since they are in good shape. I can't appreciate enough the fact he didn't use that as an excuse to up sell me like so many other tire shops would. You definitely won't find this level of service at any other used tire place in Tacoma! read more

I went to Jeff's to buy a spare tire for my SUV. I chose Jeff's mainly because of the positive reviews for them on yelp. The guys were friendly and the prices were reasonable. I figured since I was there, I would also get my front tires balanced. After all was said and done, I left Jeff's thinking I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. About a week later, I needed to change my brake pads. I am pretty mechanical so I did the brakes myself. As I was taking off the front tire, one of the ones that Jeff's just had off to balance, I realized something was wrong. One of the wheel studs were totally stripped and the lug nut was destroyed. I asked my neighbor who is a mechanic to tell me what he thought. He said it looked like whoever put the wheel on last, didn't screw in the lug nut enough before they hit it with the impact wrench causing the lug nut to destroy the wheel stud. I called Jeff's to complain but whoever was on other end of the phone said I needed to talk to Jeff. I left my number and waited for him to call me back. No luck. Now I am driving around minus one lug nut. While Jeff's might be a good place to get a used tire, don't let them touch your car because when they mess up, you are left to pay for the repair. read more

For years i have gone to see Jeff and his crew for tire repair or replacement on a number of vehicles...I also recommend them to anyone that needs that service and only get great responses back. I have read some of the negative reviews here on Yelp and have to laugh at some of the things that warrant a 1 star review and I can only imagine the writers of these reviews are probably the ones any retail worker dreads to have enter their place of work. On about 10 different occasions on several cars and over a number of years, I have received IMPECCABLE customer service, quick work and more than fair prices. I am usually in and out in under half an hour, even if they are busy. *before any of you 1 star giving, unsatisfiable yelpers go crazy with your reviews just understand the basics with ANY company: the main one being: this is a small business. To have the audacity to compare them to costco and (hold on while I die laughing) Walmart in terms of pricing....I just dont know what world you are living in. *Another is: and how should i put this...how many businesses will haggle on their prices? I wonder what costco or Walmart would say if you said: thaaaaat doesn't work for me...can you go cheaper? THAT SAID: tire repair here is cheap and reliable, and if you puncture a tire, it is INCREDIBLE to know that in probably 20 minutes it can be fixed and you can be back on the road. 25 bucks for this service is well freaking worth it! The deals on used tires are also incredible which is the main reason to go to a used....tire....store. I've given up on new tires. Here you can get 4 matching tires with enough tread to last years for nearly 75% less than buying new. I'll never buy new again as long as I can help it. Some people seem to think that charging 10-15 bucks more than Walmart for tire balancing is worth a 1 star review. People, I guess, are entitled to their opinion. But again...Jeff's IS a small business and if a couple of their CHEAPEST services are a little bit more than walmart or Costco, who cares. Get your tires changed here once and you will easily make up that price difference. Lastly, a bit more on customer service. Every single time I have come here I have always, without exception, received some of the highest level of customer service out there. They have always been kind, thorough, friendly, communicative and flexible to my needs as a customer. Even at their busiest they take the time to acknowledge me and give updates on when they will be with me. Most recently I had to go back with a used tire that was losing air a bit after the store warranty expired. I understand this is a risk with ANY used product but they took care of it, no charge...no questions asked. This is a length review I know...but I have been in customer service (first in retail, for YEARS, and now as a medical professional) and it is refreshing to find places that do it right....consistently. Jeff will always have my business as long as his door is open. The small business man is a dying breed. Let's not bash and potentially hurt such a good business on Yelp because you didn't get "walmart-crap-customer-service-and-take-all-day" pricing on ONE of their services. Maybe you would have understood me if you hadn't of cut me off mid sentence and Quoted me on what you "thought" I wanted. Maybe if you showed SOME FUCKING TACT we wouldn't have an issue.
