After a trip to Myrtle Beach with five colleagues, we were preparing to drive back to Virginia when my 2017 Suburban developed a serious rattling noise. Stressed and unsure if it was even safe to drive, I went to Firestone on Hwy 17. At first, the front desk wasn't very responsive to my concerns -- but then Don, one of the mechanics, stepped in. Don didn't just glance at the issue -- he personally brought my vehicle into the bay, lifted it, inspected it thoroughly, and quickly identified the problem: bolts on the flywheel had loosened. He took the time to show me exactly what was wrong, patiently explained the situation in a way I could understand, and reassured me about what needed to be done. Not only did Don tighten the bolts, he also applied Loctite to make sure the repair would hold during our long drive back. Thanks to his quick thinking, expertise, and real compassion, we were able to make the journey home safely. Don didn't treat me like just another ticket number -- he treated me like a person under serious stress who needed real help. I'm 63 years old and have dealt with many tires companies but my experience with Chuck and Firestone has to be by far the worst of my life. Lying and rudeness are his biggest assets. Have always enjoyed my experiences with Firestone over the years even have a Firestone credit card. But after today and my dealings with Chuck I can't in good conscience ever do business again with a company that allows someone with his disrespectful behavior and customer service to be employed. We were in need of a charge to A/C system and a wheel alignment. We showed up on a Saturday morning at 7am without an appointment. Frazier assisted us and was a super nice person to work with during the visit. The prices were a little high compared to our home town mechanic but we were in need and appreciated the convenience. I was there on 10/30/24 because my alternator blew, I was moving out of state and the auto garages couldn't get me in for at least 3 days. I brought it in and picked it up a few hours later. Well the alternator light went back on so I called them. Keep in mind I told them I wanted a new alternator not refurbished. Well they told me to bring the car back as they put in a refurbished one because that's what they were sent. They also went on to tell me they have been having issues with these alternators not working properly. Get back there with my car packed to the brim and my cat to find out it was indeed not working. They replace it a second time again promising it's a brand new alternator. It wasn't, My car has not been running right since this incident including stopping dead on the highway twice. I had to buy another car because they won't fix it. The last alternator they installed is not carrying the load of the car according to another mechanic that looked at the car. $800 was charged for all these mistakes. I will be in contact with the general attorney as this is a serious issue and I can't but think they doing this to others and someone can wind up hurt or hurting someone else due to their negligence read more

I had a great experience with this Firestone in North Myrtle beach! We were here on vacation and my battery light came on Thursday night. We were scheduled to check out and leave the next day. I went to AutoZone and had the battery checked only to discover it was the alternator. All shops were already closed. I called the Toyota dealership 1st thing the next morning, they had no availability. I called Firestone and spoke to Matt. He said that I could bring it in and they should be able to complete the job that day. I arrived at 8:30 am and my car was ready at 2:30. The price of the job was comparable to my local mechanic. I don't recommend the Firestone by me - (off 501). They tried to rip me off. My car had 15k miles on it. When I took my hands off the wheel, it drives straight. They told me that I needed a alignment. My ex boyfriend is a mechanic. I asked him, about it. He told me, "If the car goes down the road straight, you DON'T NEED a alignment." So this Firestone, by me, was trying to rip me off. They haven't "seen," me since. STAY AWAY from this location, especially if you are a woman - they'll rip you off so fast. read more

Picked up a nail or screw in my front tire. Firestone was close to home so thought I'd take it to them. Friendly enough and said it would be a 3 hour wait. No worries I could walk home and get my other car. Got a call 40 minutes later. They were determined to upsell me. Quoted 604.00 for wipers, battery, and a tire. Said the tire had a screw in the side wall. Told them that I only wanted the tire done, how much. Said 350.00 for a single tire. Really? Told em to put everything back together i'd take it someplace else. Ended up at Blacks Tire in little River. Not only was the tire patchable it was only 27.00. Can't recommend Firestone for such sketchy behavior. read more

AVIOD. I was told 2 of my 70,000 mile tires were so badly worn that they could not be rotated or balanced after 10,000 miles. The "manager" told me that he would order the tires and replace them under warranty. 2 days later I took the car in. When it was time to settle up I assumed there would be no charge. He said it was $575.00 for TWO TIRES COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! I always try to be polite, but was not. I told him to put my old tires back on. He said OK. He came back to me and offered to charge me $190. Still too high in my view but I just wanted to get out of there. I have been a Firestone customer for about 20 years before moving here. I have a charge account through Firestone as well. Our local Firestone back home in Midlothian Virginia was great. This place, not so much. The Myrtle Beach area suffers from staffing issues at all businesses. This place is seems to be no exception. I see different people every time I go. Bottom line: I'm done with this store. Never again, however I still have lifetime alignment on one of my cars so I will go back for alignments until that car is gone. read more

I'm back at Firestone for tires ... for My Honda Odyssey Touring. Not sure about some negative reviews I've read, as I have always received Great service at this location. Being a business owner you can expect to have problems with some employees, but this Firestone has always gone the extra mile in service. I've personally have been thru 5 different managers during the last 28 years, and know that they will always make things right. As far as tires, when Bridgestone took over, their tires have been excellent. This location trouble-shoots all different problems, and I've had my share over the years. Their expertise in solving problems is acknowledged by many locals in the area, and their managers through the years have upheld this high standard. Current Manager, Randy Sigafoos has increased that standard with his friendly demeanor, and competent and attention to service. So, as a business owner, I had to contest some of this missdirected reviews, because of the fine customer service I have received. Today, is no different, as I'm replacing my tires. I can be confident of a great product with warranty. Most people forget that just buying tires is not the end of your journey.. Maintenance is the key, and with this Firestone, satisfaction is their goal after the sale. My husband and I came in for a simple AC issue. They claimed that they fixed it (when in reality come to find out we could have done is ourselves for $20) they started off charging us almost $500. I couldn't believe it and I said something about how that is outrageous! Somehow, magically, they found a "discount" to save us a little bit of money. This brought the bill down to $300. My husband isn't stupid and knew what they did to the truck to "fix it" so he told them that they were ripping people off and they ended up lowering the bill to around $250. 2 months later and our trucks AC isn't blowing cold again. We were on vacation and noticed that one of our brake pads seemed to be worn. The car would make a noise whenever we stopped. We called Firestone and spoke to Dennis. He wasn't super friendly but quoted us $130 out the door to change the brake pad. When we took the car there, he said for $15 he could take a look at all of the brake pads. We agreed. We didn't hear back from him that day. We had to call the next day and ask him for an update. He said that we needed new brake pads on all of our tires, new rotors on all of the brake pads, brake fluid etc. He quoted us over $1,500 to fix everything . We asked if they could just fix the one brake pad he refused. When we said no and that we would pick it up later that day, he got frustrated and continued to be rude. He even called less then two hours later to remind us to pick up the car that day. We then asked a local where he would recommend to take the car and he said Allen's Auto Repair does excellent work and is a family owned business. They were great. The fixed the brake pad and two rotors (he said the other brake pads and rotors were fine) for $330 and even was able to determine another minor issue and fixed it for free. The car has literally never run better. We would strongly recommend Allen's over Firestone. read more

Currently looking for tires and checking Yelp reminded me of my last experience at Firestone. It was probably early to mid 2016. I went there for an alignment. They told me "Your oil is dirty. Do you want us to change it while you're here? Also you need new wipers and cabin filter and..." I said how dirty is the oil? They said oh it really needs changed. It's really dirty and blah blah blah and about how that would ruin the motor. I said strange, because I changed the oil this morning. Crooks! That made me suspect every other thing they said was more lies. Then after the getting the alignment later than evening I checked my tire pressure and they were all more thank 10 lbs LOW in tire pressure. I called them and they said "Oh I don't know what happened. Maybe our machine needs calibrated. I'll have the manager call you back in the morning. Of course he never did. My guess it they routinely lie and screw over anyone they can. I don't know if it's a passive aggressive thing, a way to get people to buy new tires sooner, or just a way to screw over the many visitors coming to Myrtle Beach. No question in my mind that you can't believe anything they say. Perhaps some of the positive reviews are bogus as well. I think many people would have just let them do whatever they recommended. read more

Huge waste of time! Tried booking an appointment several times online and it would get cancelled. Tried calling all day long and could never get an answer. Finally get an answer and they said they were booked for the next 3 days. What's the point in having a damn Appointment setter if it's completely inaccurate. This caused me to not get my wheels aligned and it's now the weekend and we are going on a trip Sunday so now way I can find anyone now. While in N. Myrtle Beach last week, my back brakes went bad, squealing, scrapping, whistling and making all kinds of noise. I drive a Honda CRV-2004. When I called Firestone and made my inquiry about their services, they were super professional, and efficient. They told me they were very busy that day but they would try to get me in if I could leave my car there. They called later to tell me what the car needed and get permission to move on. As soon as the work was done, while was only a couple of hours, they called to tell me it was done. They also offered me $20 in coupons. THEY OFFERED ME!!!! That is unheard of! Their price , I thought was very reasonable. I am very pleased with their professionalism, efficiency, and cost. read more

I was under impression it was a new alternator. The word rebuilt was never used when she quoted me price. I was charged 750 for a re manufactured part. The alternator is 300.00 to the public at NAPA. This has been an ongoing saga for 2 months now. I took my car in to have the tires replaced. Fine. Work was done over a few days, they found some other issues and I gave the all clear to fix them. I drove home that weekend to VA and when driving to work the next day I noticed a wobbling noise. I call up my local firestone and take it in. The drive back to my local was extremely loud as if the tire was about to fall off. Low and behold the tire almost did fall off as the technicians determined that the lug nuts were not properly tighten down. As a result of driving it back to my local Firestone (maybe 30 miles door to door from my office) the rim was destroyed, as was the bearing and hub. They replaced it all no charge and got it done in a reasonable amount of time. Now fast forward maybe 2-3 weeks and I am pulling into work again and notice a circular grinding noise happening at lower speeds coming from the same side (front drivers side) where the bearing, rim and hub had to be replaced from the loose lug nuts. So I called Firestone and told them the scenario and I dropped it off. They came back 3-4 days later saying they think there is a problem with the rear differential and said there was white milk fluid coming out of it. I corrected by stating that the issue felt like it was coming from the front. They responded by saying it could be vibrations being sent up the drive shaft and that's what I was feeling. They also followed up saying that they are not differential guys and I would need to take it somewhere else. So I did. The other guys opened it up and said they saw now issue with the rear differential and there was no Molly white substance coming out of it at all. And they said the only issue was coming from the front differential ( like I had said earlier). Now I have to replace the entire differential and axle as a result of this damage (of which I never had any issues before I took it to this firestone) The differential shop called back and said the cause of the issue was probably from a recent leak in fluid and that's what caused the gear tooth to break. They also mentioned if it was in the shop and someone was looking at it they would have noticed the low fluid or the leak that had been there and should have brought it up at the very least. After talking with multiple mechanics from different shops they all stated that it was most likely the loose tire that caused the damage to the differential as those are not designed to take such vibrations and wobbling without something going bad. I called the shop here and asked them (last weds mind you) the situation and that I needed a proposed solution ASAP. They said they would run it up the flag pole and see what comes down. It's not been 6 days and no response yet. I was even in town visiting my in laws and stopped in to check on status. The firs time I called last week they said it would be a couple of days to get an answer. A couple days go by and nothing. I stop by in person (down visiting in laws in wife's car) and they said no answer yet but they would get an answer on Tuesday. I come back Tuesday (today) and they said no answer today as Randy is out of the office today. So they said they would promise to get me an answer by weds, when they already promised over the weekend they would get me an answer by today. I am done waiting. This is ridiculous and unprofessional. I would not recommend this place unless you have a very good lawyer on stand by. That will probably be my next call at this point. read more

We promised to take our 3 year old to see the Mermaids at Ripleys and realized that we had a pretty bad flat tire. At 6:45 we hurried to find someone who was open and conceded that the Mermaids were not possible that evening. After calling Walmart we happened to drive by Firestone and pulled in asking if they could help. I even offered to come back the next morning since we were near closing time, 7:00pm. Jay said that they would take care of it. Greg the mechanic put a new tire on and we were on our way by 7:30. All smiles with no complaints from the Firestone staff. I told my Father In Law that I would be willing to wait to get new tires here. 12 hours from my home because of their honesty and willing to go the extra mile. Great great service! Even beyond that, we had trouble resetting the tire sensor. We came back the next day and without any hesitation they did a hard reset. Very impressed!!! read more

Was on a trip 800 miles from home when heard flapping in the wheel well. Called them up to see if they could get me in asap. I went right over and they were able to get the car back on the road within a half hour. They did not have the push pins that it really needed but were able to put in some zip ties which rectified the problem for the time being. Thanks guys!!! read more

If I could leave a no star I would have. We have a condo in Myrtle beach and noticed my wife's car needed a oil change so we looked online and noticed they had a great special for covid19 essential workers for 50% off oil change. I called and talked to lady and told her what I needed an oil change for and told her I worked for an airline and she said oil change is 85.00 and you will get 50% off that. I said great I'll bring it down and leave with you. When I got there a gentleman waited on me and then handed me the bill and it was 160.00 for an oil change. I told him no way the dealership only charges 85.00 and there using genuine infinity parts and he said you get 50% off that and that the filter is 53.00. I told him no way so I left.i got home and went to infinity sight and the filter is 13.00 and they don't even use genuine parts probably from Napa or autozone and the filter there is around 6 to 7 dollars. I don't like being taken advantage of and especially when they advertise they are helping essential workers during the coved-19 times.I would never recommend anyone going to this place. read more

I have used this Firestone for years now. I know that they will give me an honest review, even if it means that there is no work for them to do. They always give me the choices, where applicable, of the services that can be done. This has been helpful, especially when money is tight. I wish they did more services (i.e. clutch work) since I know I can trust them! The staff is always very pleasant and friendly. I took my car there to have my battery replaced .I dropped it off at 10 am told them if they couldn't get to it let me know .I called at 6pm that night they told me it was in the bay cleaning the terminals and it would be ready I said great I'll get it in the am I went there they never even moved it lied to me !!!! I had to work and had to drive it .they lost I will never go back and I will tell everyone they out right lie all they had to do was tell the truth I would have got a ride to work but no there liars! !!!! read more

Was in town for a few days and my parents car caught a screw in the side. My parents had to have the exact same tire since it was a newer car. the good- they ordered it and it was in that afternoon. the bad was when we left the tire pressure warning light was on, needed to be reset. but I checked the pressure anyway and all 3 tires were at 25 lbs so had to fill each one. the new tire was correct. was hoping they would look over the other tires while it was in the shop, especially for older customers. read more

Got front brakes done in April and not only did they not feel like they were even changed at all but they felt worse than before. I took my vehicle back in and the lady said a "bolt was missing" but that it was fixed and the brakes were adjusted. The brakes however felt no different after getting my vehicle back the second time. Also there is so much brake dust all over my tires months later that I have to take my vehicle through the car wash twice a week because it looks awful. Long story short I am having my brakes completely re-done somewhere else. Hesitantly I took my car in for a simple oil change and tire rotation today. After waiting just under 2.5 hours for my car to get done even with an appointment I got 20 minutes down the road and as soon as my speed went over 40mph the steering wheel started to shake so badly I felt like I was going lose control of the vehicle. I never had any issues with this before so it was obvious something wasn't done correctly at Firestone. I immediately brought my vehicle back and was told one of my tires was bad and had to be replaced (another $88). I asked why they never said anything when they rotated my tires and the technician very rudely said he just didn't notice it. I also pointed out the vehicle did not have any issues when I drove it prior to today's visit and that if the tire was bad I should have felt something beforehand and they simply ignored me. The people were rude, unprofessional and in my opinion dishonest. I do not feel they properly serviced my vehicle either time correctly, and that I incurred additional fees as the result of their incompetence. I will never take my vehicle back to this location!! read more
