My 2005 Toyota was giving me problems, so I brought it in for a diagnosis. Joe said he would call me with what they found. Later that day, he told me there were a few things wrong. I decided to fix two as it's an old car . That evening, I reconsidered and left a message on their answering machine not to perform any service. I brought a car on Carvana. When I went to pick up the Toyota. I expected to get a bill for the diagnosis. Joe said there was no charge. I thought this was terrific. Joe has so much integrity. Responsive and repair was quick but very expensive. We were on vacation and garage had excellent reviews but no time for second opinion. Told we had a couple of oil leaks that required valve cover gasket's, oil cooler housing, fuel injector and spark plugs with coil pack. Total over $1800. Problem though after picking it up with battery. Had to pay for jump start, new battery and labor, another $379. We have 2016 Dodge caravan and no problems till now, 146000 miles so hopefully this was just due. Staff were very friendly and helpful as stated and feel like they wanted us home safely. read more

When my insurance company couldn't find me a tow service that would accept my insurance while my car was broke down on the side of a highway in the pitch black darkness of night with truckers and cars flying by at 90mph, I called Allen's Auto. Now, Allen's Auto was not first on the list when I looked up tow services. There were two tow companies above them and I can confidently say they were absolute garbage. The first company wasn't even open!! It was only 7 o'clock at night! The next company I called, who's website said 24 hour towing, had a guy answer that said he was done for the night and that he was eating dinner. I was so mad I actually told him, "Your website says 24 hour towing, you jerk!!" I couldn't believe I was out here stranded on the highway like this. but.... Here's were my night changed for the good. When I called Allen"s Auto, a woman answered the phone with the voice of an Angel. I told her my situation and she immediately, without hesitation, told me she had someone "on the way right now". I cant remember her name but I believe she is the owner of Allen's Auto. I was so relieved. Next, this guy shows up in about 20 minutes with a flatbed tow truck. After we said hey to each other and shook hands, he quickly and respectfully got my BMW on the back of his flatbed. We hopped up in the cab and in just under half a second, I thanked him again and then told him about the other crappy tow service companies. I believe his name is Guilton. How absolutely amazing it is to meet someone for the first time, and in a matter of seconds, talk to each other like we're family. Guilton and I had about a 35 minute ride to my house, and the topic of conversations ranged from other tows he's done, wrecks he's seen, wrecks we've BOTH been in, and I, of course talked about my girlfriend(Love of My Life). To end this review, I would like to say thank you to the owner of Allen's Auto and Guilton. We had an oil leak the day before we were to drive home. We were on vacation and noticed one of our brake pads seemed to be worn out. After a failed attempt to get it fixed at Firestone (read their review), we asked a local where he would recommend getting his car fixed. He said Allen's was great, honest and a family run business. We took our car there and they did an excellent job. They fixed our brake pad and rotors. They even were able to find out what was making a clinking sound in our engine and fixed it for free. They stayed true to their price quote and had the car ready quickly. The car has literally never run better. They were super friendly, knowledgeable and trustworthy. We vacation once a year there and if we ever need our car fixed again, we are taking it to Allen's. read more

Allen's is awesome. Our AC quit working on the way to the beach. We pulled up to his place. He said let me just refill the Freon and check for leaks, be about $100. That was totally it. We could have gotten taken for a whole new AC system as we were from out of town. This would be my local mechanic if I lived down in Myrtle Beach. His hands were greasy and his shop was clean, what you want in a mechanic. We were going to try Firestone, but saw their review and someone recommended Allen's, glad we checked Yelp. read more

Ok guys, I don't typically write reviews. However, today I am truly in disbelief at how service at this business was handled today. I took my car to Allen's Auto yesterday with some dash lights on, they ran the diagnostic testing and told me the issue. Quoted me $354.40 + tax and an hour and a half labor. COOL, not a problem. They ordered the part, called me today when it was ready and I drove back to N Myrtle Beach for the service. I pull into the parking lot at 2:40pm, my car wasn't taken back until 2:56pm. I have the receipt where I paid LESS THAN ONE HOUR LATER. Now, I paid $368.75 and didn't even pay attention to how much she said. I get back home and look at the receipt and see that I was still charged for 1 hour and 30 minutes of labor. Their labor was $165.00 for 1.5 hours. That's $55.00 over the time my car was actually worked on. Now I know there's a "book time" when it comes to anything with shops. But my issues comes when I call and speak with Tess, who you can immediately hear in her voice that she was annoyed. She said she would see if some of it could be refunded. Hey, that's great customer service, right?? My phone rings a few minutes later and it's the mechanic who actually done the work. He tells me all about the book time and HE'S paid based on the work done. Ok, so you're paid based on work you didn't actually do, sweeeet. The $55.00 you just stole from me was money I worked my ass off for, getting up at 3am, 6 days a week. He continues to tell me that he's been in this business for 10+ years so it would take anyone else 1.5 hours. BUT IT DIDN'T TAKE YOU THAT LONG SIR, so why charge me for it!!! I don't know about anyone reading this review, but I whole heartedly believe that anyone who pays for service, works hard for the money they spend and probably wouldn't appreciate being taken advantage of like I was today. I'm sure there's more businesses who operate like this, I guess I'm just the one who let it sting me today because money doesn't come by easy and the cost of living isn't cheap, especially in and around Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle. read more

Called Allen's when something started clanging ominously in my wheelchair-converted minivan's front end. I called after normal work hours and got their towing service who instructed me to bring my vehicle in first thing the next morning (luckily this place was an easy walk from our hotel!) He was very knowledgeable and courteous. And, we were tremendously grateful that he had a lift that worked with our converted and lowered minivan! The mechanic quickly found that we'd blown out one of the MacPherson struts. He was able to get all the necessary replacement parts and had the van finished before dinner time! The cost was very reasonable, too. He runs an all-cash business, so be prepared for that. read more

Johnny Rosenbalm at Allen's in my experience is the most honest as well as the best mechanic in the business! I trust him more than anyone else who has ever worked on my car at the beach. He always shoots straight with me, and at least 90% of the time he is able to get it fixed right the first time! The only drawback to having your car fixed at Allen's is that they only take cash and travelers checks. In my book, if you have the money, this is the only place to have your car repaired! read more

The night before I was to check out of my condo in Cherry Grove, my alternator died. A friend recommended John Rosenbaum and I gave him a call at about 6pm Friday night. I was able to call AAA and have my car towed to his garage. He diagnosed by 9 am Saturday morning. He had it repaired and drove it back to me by 1:30. I was at the beach with my 6-yr-old son and was able to have my car repaired and be home by 6:30. Highly recommend this business! read more

Having car trouble on vacation can be a recipe for disaster but Allen Auto Service made it as painless as possible. Our car wouldn't start on a Thursday evening and we were scheduled to leave for home Saturday morning so after searching for AAA auto repair shops, I had it towed to Allen's Friday morning. They diagnosed the problem (a storm had knocked out the security system) and had it fixed by that afternoon. Originally I thought I had a good deal. Upon returning from vacation to Michigan I learned that they had lied to me. I took my Suburban to my mechanic and he said that Allen's never did anything with the wiring that they said they did...and that the exhaust part that they fixed for $300.00 was a simple 3 inch weld. terrible experience with this repair shop. charged me $200 more than my mechanic at home said he would've charged me for it. charged me a labor rate of $120 an hour. found out after the fact that another shop in myrtle beach would've charged me $75 an hour. credit card is not accepted and by the way they don't tell you that until they are calling you to let you know your car is ready. classic case of taking advantage of a guy on vacation that is stuck between a rock and a hard place. dont make the same mistake i did. read more
