We chose Firestone because of the name but... In Myrtle Beach for 3 days , we dropped our 2014 Subaru Crosstrek on April 29, 7am, at Firestone, Kings Highway complete autocare, to have someone check the front end of vehicle which was growling. After giving the keys to Thomas, he said that someone would be calling the same day before lunch to let us know what was going on. Cool. Not having heard from Firestine by 4pm, I called and a supervisor explained what was wrong. I told him to proceed with the work which he said was a quick simple fix and he assured me that the car would be ready first thing in the morning... Fine. We came around 9 am the next day, waited for over an hour in their customer lounge until I decided to go look at our car - which was on a lift inside - and inquire about what was going on. Seeing the car form below with a technician, we both realized that absolutely nothing had been repaired and the supervisor apologized while instructing a fellow mechanic to get going asap. Car had its right front end arm replaced very quicly while we sat outdoors. Seeing next our Subaru parked on the lot we stepped into their office and were presented with an absurd invoice of $815.22 !? No way! The hourly shop rate being approximately $175/ hour, please someone, tell me how you come up such an inflated price? Invoice shows a fee - $142 - for alignment while changing one arm only and would they even have had time to perform the task while we were outside? Why would they also charge fifty bucks - $49.99 - to diagnose a problem while concurrently charging $175 hourly to fix it?! We felt cheated by Firestone. If y'all are looking for a terrible car experience go to Firestone Myrtle Beach. Go in for a tire alignment and was told I needed over $2500 work done. Entire rack and pinion? I asked what was wrong with it and I was told he shook the wheels and there was play. THAT'S THE TIE ROD END!! When I informed him that there was no grinding, dead spots, heavy steering when turning the wheel I got a blank stare. I also let him know that there's never been a leak in the system and the only true way to tell if the steering was shot is to actually open the system. Also recommend an oil change....done 1500 miles ago. Recommend an air filter....I have a 1 million mile K&N air filter that I maintain. Recommend coolant change....only has 20k miles on it. Recommend brake fluid change....never asked for it. Recommend wiper blades....never asked for it. Recommend rear brake job.....never asked for it. ONLY WANTED AN ALIGNMENT!!! A friend of mine is a retired mechanic and he laughed at the "technique " the so called mechanic used to determine that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. FUCKING PLACE IS A JOKE!! Well, spoke to DJ the Firestone store manager in Surfside/Myrtle Beach and all I got was, "if the tech notes it, I recommend it. I don't force anyone to do anything. " DJ took a very passive aggressive attitude. Never addressed the bigger issues of underhanded practices. I Tried to be nice, but he always gave a snide remark for each issue mentioned. Most recently went in for brake service, car was pulling a little to the right while braking. Car sat on the lot for 10 days. Over the course of those ten days was told that parts were ordered and reordered and reordered for all sorts of reasons. Finally spoke to a manager that said these parts were never actually ordered and there was nothing they could do to fix the bad caliper or brake line. They did take it upon themselves to dismantle the brakes and refused to let me drive it off the lot. So, I drove it on, sat for 10 days and had to have it towed off after being lied to on multiple occasions. Not a real stand up outfit, definitely won't be back. Would advise anyone to go anywhere else. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! This place does not deserve even one star. We took our car here because we thought our tire had a problem. The guy did not even lift our car up but just laid his hand on two of our totes snd said that we needed new shocks for $1200. Did not even look at shocks or push car up and down. We did not believe him. Took our car to GM dealer and had to pay $149 to have car looked at and they found a nail in our tire. I went into Firestone to get my tire checked, since I noticed it was looking a bit low. I was concerned I had a flat. The employee filled all of my tires with air without checking for a flat. I asked him to double check and he did a horrible job searching the tire and said there was no nail he could feel. I left on a 6 day work trip, and when I returned at midnight on a Sunday, my rim was touching the ground. Absolutely unacceptable. Definitely do NOT recommend. read more

1 star is generous. Read the whole review-- This place is a joke and it's all because of who was up front, a guy named Mark. I understand maybe being short staffed or whatever the case may be, but there's ways to go about it -- I made an appointment for my brother and I at 11:00 am (website had time slots available for both) -- upon arrival I'm told by Mark that my appointment isn't on there and shouldn't have been approved. Well I didn't get a call or email saying otherwise so here I am. After some talk we agree to leave my car there. My brother had a radiator hose issue, I had a leaking tire issue... just needed patch or plug work, nothing crazy... maybe 30 mins worth of work. After 3 hours of no updates we called (put on hold twice for 15 mins each) we find out neither car had been touched (there were 2 cars in the bays when I pulled back up). I can't wait around anymore so I go back up and while waiting in the lobby, this guy is yucking it up with some woman at the computer and is in no hurry to attend to me. When I finally get up to him, he says "oh I won't be getting to that today" -- almost with a smirk. I eventually just get my keys back and leave, while he gives ZERO apology at all. After I left, my mother went up with my brother to help him out. While she was there she got the same condescending/ignorant tone I got, almost like he was wasting his time speaking with her. He then blatantly lies and says he explained to us how busy they were, which he didn't speak one word of, all while giving no updates at all. When she would ask him a question he would basically answer it to my brother and not speak with her, even though she was paying for it. This guy is a clown and completely disrespectful... apparently unless you're the woman in front of me in line. I took my vehicle to Harry's Discount Tire on 3rd Ave S (10ish blocks down the road) and they got me in and out in THIRTY MINUTES... they worked on my tire OUTSIDE the shop behind another car already in a bay. They made it work when all of their bays were full. GO TO HARRY'S!!! Not only did they squeeze the work in, they're extremely nice and not an arrogant prick like Mark at Firestone. read more

There is a new(ish) manager at this location named Dennis. I have a vastly different review based on my experience today. I've had a few other minor interactions with him trying to sell me stuff I don't need. But, today takes the cake! I made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation which I have done for the last several years. I got "the call" and he reported that I am getting "very close" (underscored and two exclamations on the written paper) to needing 4 new tires! Well that's very interesting since I just had my car inspected YESTERDAY! I'm sure if my tires were remotely close to needing replacement the State of NC would be glad to let me know! Disclaimer: My vehicle is AWD so, when I need tires it does have to be all 4 in case you were wondering. I don't know about you but, I'm sick to death of businesses trying to take advantage. They have lost me as a client and I highly recommend you doing business elsewhere as well! Maybe if enough of us boycott they will change, or better yet, go out of business. This is my first review outside of restaurants and the ONLY reason I'm doing it is because I was never treated so nice and respectively by an automotive place like I was here. First, I want to thank Mark the manager. I called after a super long 13 hour night shift at the hospital. After work my car got a throttle warning and sounded like it was revving high. Ugh. Nothing like that at 6 am. So I waited till businesses opened and everyone talked down to me because I guess because I'm a female. I was getting pricing like $80 just to look at it. Then I got the well it's Saturday bring it in Monday. What? I had to go back to work that night and then 24 hour call on Sunday. I need my car!!! I then figured why not go to a trusted Name company? A company that's been around forever!!! Duh. I called. Mark understood my work predicament. Had me bring it over and leave it. I felt like a million dollars. I got a call soon later. He did a diagnostic told me what I needed. Suggested a couple things and assured me my car was ok despite the light going on. He didn't take advantage of my lack of knowledge and didn't charge me for necessary anything. I appreciate this place and it's employees for that. The manager took it upon himself after hours to pick up the tires and deliver them back to the store so that I could come in Sunday for my tires. I may be too critical here, but I do not think I will ever go back to any Firestone svc ctr. I have used them in other states and I cant remember ever having a positive experience. Today, I had a 12 noon appointment for oil change and transmission fluid change as I had noticed the transmission shifting hard. I also recently changed the serpentine belt and read online the noise I was hearing at high speeds could be from that, however it could be from the transmission. After talking with the person that checked me in, at 1145, he tells me his master tech will not change it because it leaves them liable for the problems that exist in the transmission and told me I would have to take it to a transmission shop. I told him I was willing to sign a waiver. He called his manager who was off for the day, he said because it is not the original transmission. All I wanted was a fresh filter and fluid, not to do anything to the transmission mechanically. So, all I got done was an oil change. I have a 2 day trip scheduled tomorrow for work which I will have to stay overnight being as far away as I will be, I am now concerned about the further damage to the transmission as the fluid smells a little burnt. So, my point here other thanthe obvious....I went to the reastaraunt next door and had a sandwich. My vehicle did not get taken in until 1220....I went back at 1240....the oil was just getting drained...1255.....the oil filter came off....110 the new filter and oil put in and I waited until 124 pm before my vehicle was ready...,,.,And I HAD AN APPT!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I have had had $15 oil changes at a private svc shop and hadbetter customer service, including being asked if I wanted tire rotation AND telling me potential mechanical issues that should be considered. The service manager got us in and out in 30 minutes and helped calm my nerves for the long ride back home. We use this firestone every summer vacation and plan on continuing to visit this store. Extremely frustrated with the service I received here. Came in for a simple oil change. Left, everything was fine until I noticed the underneath of my car literally falling off and oil on my garage floor. I call to let them know that I'm ON MY WAY -they were closing in 30 minutes and I had to have them fix it because I obviously cant be driving around with the bottom of my car falling off. I get there and I'm told I have to wait. They had the tire in stock and said they could change it out immediately. The entire job took less than 45 minutes and they stored the spare and lug wrench tools like new.
