This review is late, covid and personal distractions delayed. I've had 3 occasions to use Beach Boys. 1 -Truck brake pedal to the floor, called AAA, local Tow company took the truck to their shop, after 2 days call them them they said need brake lines and they didn't want to do it, the cost would be too high. I ask them to tow it to Beach Boys .. they did, where the brake lines, calipers & pads were replaced in 3 days for few hundred $$. 2 - Clutch pedal weak, hood latch broken, AAA, same Tow company, waited again for 2 days, call them, don't think they even looked at the truck, told me it would require major work, drop the transmission, all kind of parts, didn't want to work on it .. again. Ask if they'd tow it to Beach Boys, they did, Beach Boys NEW OWNERS call me said they got the hood fixed and there's nothing wrong with the clutch, needed fluid, so they drained, replaced and in about 3 hours, that major HUGE job was done, $1000? saved, just needed fluid. 3 - Power steering leak, I dropped it off to BB's and they drove me home, fixed the problem same day and delivered the truck to my home .. Lucky for me the tow company/repair shop was a block or two from Beach Boys .. 3 repairs over 18 months or so, and All of the above are working fine, truck running like new (with 175,000 miles) the truck is well maintained, its just over 25 yrs old. Stan and his shop are amazing, while here from out of town I had a check engine light come on and was recommended to Beach Boyz by AutoZone in Murrells Inlet. Not knowing any local repair shops I hesitantly called and the owner Stan answered immediately, listened to my concerns and said come on in and they would take care of me. Which they did in spades! First off he gave me an accurate diagnosis while recommending NOT to spend more money than I needed on other optional repairs and had it repaired within a day. I had a more involved repair unrelated to the check engine light that I had been delaying given I didn't know any local repair shops and after my initial experience with them I asked Stan if they could do this as well. Due to upcoming travel I needed my vehicle back sooner than his schedule allowed but after hearing about my situation and lack of other options he and his crew worked me into his schedule and got it done earlier than I expected as he was concerned for my safety driving the vehicle to TN without this additional repair issue. Stan's integrity, honesty, quality of repairs and amazing customer service has made me a believer in him and Beach Boyz and I can't recommend them highly enough, in this day and age they are truly a diamond in the rough! read more

I brought my car for oil change and tire rotation on Friday 10/4/2024 with no appointment. Nancy checked and they were willing to get me done just had to leave car there. No problem. 2 nights prior at end of work day I went home and parked in my garage and went to go back out and car would not start and all dash lights were on. Weird!! No warning. I checked battery voltage and it was low 9.6 volts. So I replaced battery myself. However after battery change the dash light for battery was illuminated. It was not on prior to event. I conveyed this to Stan as an incidental to the oil change and tire rotation. The car started and ran well but the light made me worry. Kirby called and explained that there were many reasons that this could still remain on and after extensive testing was able to diagnose a faulty alternator as it was not charging the battery. They went way above and beyond especially noting that I did not have an appointment. My car is running beautifully. One side note. The battery I bought from WM turned out to be defective even though it was brand new. So for anyone reading this be careful using WM batteries. Front end vibration is my Ford F450 had been getting worse for several weeks despite work done by dealership elsewhere. We were in Myrtle Beach area for three months and I wanted to get the problem resolved before we started traveling again (full time traveling RV'ers). Called Beach Boyz and spoke with Stan, the owner. Reviewed what the problem was and what had already been done and made an appointment to bring it in. They were waiting for me when I arrived. Went for a test drive with one of the mechanics who immediately accurately diagnosed the problem as a bad front tire. These guys could have fed me a bunch of BS about front end problems, etc., and probably billed me a few grand for imaginary repairs, but they gave me an honest diagnosis of an easily solvable and comparatively inexpensive problem. Knowledgable, honest and competent. That's everything I need or want in any auto repair shop. I'll be back! read more

My car died, absolutely no power. I called Beach Boyz and spoke with Stan, I instantly like him. I had the car towed there, and within 10 minutes in the garage he identified the problem. He called and asked if anyone had worked on the car recently. I replied that a few months earlier, I had a broken motor mount replaced at another repair shop. He explained that they failed to reinstall the battery tray properly and secure the ground wire from the battery. The ground wire was just hanging off the battery and had come loose from the frame. Stan repaired the wire, reinstalled the battery tray, and the car is running great now. He was more than fair and reasonable. I've been looking for a local mechanic that I could trust for several years, I've finally found one. read more

The alternator went out on our 2019 traverse Wednesday night. Stopped at several parts houses to get it checked just to make sure that was w it was. Was given the names of several places to try to get it fixed. So Thursday around noon we got in touch with Beach Boyz they said bring it over and they would try to get it in. they did and even had the mechanic stay a little longer to finish it that night. All repairs made and extremely friendly. Very very grateful as we were returning home late Friday. I would highly recommend this business for your automotive repairs. These guys are awesome. I was of the mindset that taking my car to the dealership for maintenance was somehow better. After getting bamboozled by Honda yet again, I called Beach Boyz for a quote on a repair Honda decided to tack on while they were in the middle of doing my brakes. Turns out the extra repair was completely unnecessary. Since then I've taken my Acura to Randy and his team for everything. Alternator, battery, tire leaks, sunroof malfunctions, oil changes, timing belt- always solid work at a reasonable price and I've never left feeling like I've been sold something I don't need. read more

I needed a very simple thing, two tires mounted on my golf cart rims. Could not be more pleased and pleasantly surprised with the service and the price. Left the rims and tires and was told come back in an hour. The guys turned the job around very quickly considering I was a 'walk in'. Could not be happier with the whole experience and I would recommend them without hesitation. I actually went to them based on a recommendation from a friend in Surfside. Not very often I feel compelled to leave a review, but Beach Boyz went above and beyond! Our check engine light came on the day before we were supposed to drive 1000 miles home. Our tire decided to find a nail while we were vacationing. Doughnut spare wasn't going to get us home and Beach Boys was right around the corner. Everyone in the shop was upbeat and really great to work with. Our tire was so happy to be there that it hid the hole from the technicians. Through dogged determination, the hole was patched and we were on our way. No crazy charges, no outrageous bill. Highly recommend. read more

It's never fun to need to take your car in for repair, but Stan (owner) makes it very comfortable. He will stay in touch with you about what is going on, repair your car as soon as possible And his prices are most competitive. You have to be careful in a tourist town. There are plenty of mechanic who will take advantage of you. But not Stan. I hope you don't need to, but give them a try if problems arise. read more
