Beach Boyz Auto Repair

I bought a used Honda CR-V from a big local dealer. I was referred to BBAR by Gerber Collision and…read moreI couldn't be happier!!! My car drives like a dream. No rumbles bumps grinds or thumps. I'm staying with Beach Boyz!!!

Zero stars if possible Unfortunately I had a terrible…read moreexperience with this shop. I paid them $2000.00 to fix the heater in my 2010 Ford F150 on June 26th of this year (I know it was getting hot and why did I need it. I had the money to fix it and didn't want to be without it come winter) So I took Stan's word based on a recommendation from my neighbor (we just moved here and didn't know anyone yet) and moved forward with him to do the work believing I would get a properly functioning heater back for that amount of money. That's not what happened. After his crew removed the whole inside of my truck. seats, console, dashboard, replaced 4 actuators and put it all back together; what I got was a truck with heat that only works on the max setting of 90 degrees and on only the driver's side. Cold air blows out of the passenger side He said he would take care of it when he found a control head and besides, I don't need heat right now anyway. Okay sounds good. (Not sure why he didn't check out the control head when he "diagnosed" the problem for 2k but I guess that's on me?? According to him it was because he couldn't locate the part) After giving him a couple of months and not hearing from him I emailed a couple of times with no response so I called him to see if he could finish the job that I paid for and he basically told me there was nothing he could do for me since he couldn't find the part. When I pushed back and said I needed the heater to work right he got loud and went all Tony Soprano on me. A complete 180 from the nice smiling guy I had met and hired to do a job for me before I paid the 2k and got back a truck with a half a^* working heater. I can hear him laughing to his crew when I was driving away "Well boys, there's one born every minute" So just beware when dealing with this guy and his shop Beach Boyz In Surfside.

Paid $745.94 Toward an Ignition Problem -- Left With the Same Problem…read more I brought my 2002 Dodge Ram to Coastal Car Fix for a very specific problem that I documented before the repair: the ignition could leave the accessories powered with the key removed and drain the battery. I paid $150 for diagnosis, then authorized the repair they recommended. The ignition-cylinder/key job was another $595.94. The new cylinder felt better, but the actual problem I paid them to diagnose and address never went away. When I returned, Coastal told me the tumbler was working properly and that the fault was actually the ignition switch, which they said was likely the underlying issue that caused the original tumbler problem. They then wanted another $280.51 for that repair. I even offered to pay for the additional $58.64 switch part plus tax if they would cover the repeat labor. They declined. Instead of standing behind the original diagnosis and getting the problem resolved, their response eventually became that the truck is 24 years old with nearly 250,000 miles and even included a comment about "budgeting." The truck's age wasn't a secret when they accepted it, diagnosed it, recommended the repair, and accepted payment. We can afford another $280. We refuse to pay twice to resolve the same problem. There is also a separate $216.59 charge on my original invoice labeled "Program New Keys For The Vehicle IMMO." I was never provided new keys--I left with the same key I brought in. I have requested an explanation and documentation for that charge. Their invoice advertises a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty on repairs, yet I'm taking the truck somewhere else with the same malfunction I originally brought it in for. I paid for professional diagnosis and a recommended repair. The specific problem remained. Based on my experience and how the return visit was handled, I absolutely do not recommend Coastal Car Fix.

Car Doc Auto Repair

We had an overheating auto while on vacation at Surfside Beach and a scheduled departure the following day. I limped into the Car Doc's place with a temperature gauge that was about to fly off the dashboard, a wife and 2 year old in the car. They were the nicest folks imaginable and immediately set to taking a look at my car issues. They not only diagnosed and repaired my faulty thermostat in record time, they did it for parts and 1 & 1/2 hours of labor. And this was on a not-easy-to-work-on Cadillac DTS engine. Just getting to the engine requires a half hour as does reassembling everything. They took me and my family down the road to where we were staying, and came back to pick us up when the repair was done. Honestly I don't think a dealership's "concierge service" could possibly have been any better. We pulled into the Car Doc completely stressed out with a car that was massively overheating and short timeline to get anything done, and walked out a couple of hours later with the peace of mind that the car was fixed. I've dealt with some mechanics that would have done the same thing, but too many that wouldn't have. The cost was absolutely minimal, and we drove home would perfectly functioning cooling system in some serious heat. Thanks to the good folks at the Car Doc for your much-needed help in a tight situation. I cannot thank you enough! I have NO idea what business the first reviewer on Yelp was dealing with, but I am fairly certain that it was NOT this Car Doc.
