I would never recommend these crooksters. My car wouldn't start by the mall, so I pushed it to them and they said I needed a new starter. $900 later they said "if anything happens and our work was bad, we'll pay for the tow truck!" Sooo later the next day at Menards my car won't start and I get a tow truck back to Firestone. "Oh... we misdiagnosed your problem. It wasn't the starter it was corrosion on your battery cable. So because we misdiagnosed your problem but our (unnecessary) replacement on your starter was flawless, we can't pay for your tow truck here, oh and it will be another $300." So that's over FOURTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS to take a steel brush to some corroded battery cable. DO NOT USE FIRESTONE EDINA unless you enjoy throwing away money. They are evil scammers and bad human beings, and completely incompetent at what they do. read more

After calling several shops about a last-minute brake change, I contacted this location the day before and was told it would be possible. I arrived early the next morning and was informed the service could take anywhere from 1-3 hours, possibly longer. I explained the urgency due to work and made it clear I had limited time. The agent said that wouldn't be a problem. The shop was not busy at all, so I reasonably expected to be helped quickly. I left briefly to walk around the nearby mall and returned 2.5 hours later to find that nothing had been done to my car, not even an inspection. My time was completely wasted. This location made promises it did not keep. I would not recommend this place to others, and I genuinely feel for anyone who has had a similar experience. read more

The personnel perpetually seems under staffed, someone is usually out due to an illness. I use this location 2-3 times per year and I believe the front end team could be a bit more welcoming and friendly. I realize they are often the bearers of bad news, but that can be delivered with a bit of empathy. They do seem to be honest with their analysis of my autos condition and that is a definite positive. The team also delivers the service at a reasonable price. If you can get past the "well I know you had an appointment, but we have several waiters and we are short a technician due to (add your own adjatiave) illness" they are worth a try if you are looking for a new home for your auto to be serviced. read more

I called the day off after finding out that my car battery has a warranty and Firestone in another town installed the battery. They were able to find me in their system instantly and confirmed that my 5 year warranty was still in place. I got in right after work and getting it replaced in less than an hour! Veterans... I would recommend not supporting this location. The customer service at this location is appalling. What is worse is knowing that while many of my interactions with staff were less than favorable, the worst interaction was that with the store manager, Dana. I was needing to assist an elderly veteran with a tire issue as he was in the hospital and before going he had a flat tire. I called explaining this situation to a staff member. He was very friendly and made me feel they could assist. Once I tried to pick up this tire the problems ensued. It took me three attempts to get this matter settled. I had a nonprofit willing to pay for the tire. This non profit spoke with the store manager who flat out informed them they could not take payment from them. This non profit stated that she was incredibly unhelpful and unwilling to help. The nonprofit has assisted many veterans purchase tires without issue. She states they couldn't take payments over the phone. I had been told of this before but was told if I entered the numbers in that would be ok. So I went in attempting to do that for the non profit. She denied me the ability to do so stating she could not do that. I finally asked her then to give me the old tire and rim back as this agency is willing to pay and have had no issues getting this done. After many minutes of back and forth of me expressing my frustration at trying to assist a veteran to which they will not, Dana informed me that maybe she can do it if the non profit could show documentation they are an actual nonprofit but she had to call someone first. She did that, and right away without question I hear the person in the other end say yeah that is fine. No problem. I had to have the nonprofit email her the proof to her personal email because the business apparently does not have one. I then still entered in the card numbers to pay for the product. Finally the nightmare ended. As I turned around I realize it's likely the only reason she was willing to try to work it out was that in our conversation I kept expressing that the tire was for a veteran, that I have been trying to assist the veteran, that the non profit is veteran ran and supports veterans with their needs and it seemed as though she didn't want people to think they wouldn't help. Well she didn't until then. If she cared to help she would have tried to ask this person if she could do what she ended up doing or ask for other options prior to me coming in, when the nonprofit called her directly. She was rude and arrogant. Just know this veteran nonprofit informed me they will never do business there, likely will advise other veterans to avoid going there, and I know I have also informed many veterans and coworkers to avoid this store. My car would briefly rattle upon startup and then the check engine light came on, so I brought it in immediately. They informed me the error code meant I needed new spark plugs and an ignition coil. (I should mention that this alone somehow cost over a grand there, and the mechanic was rude on the phone and also tried to tack on a bunch of bogus services that I had recently had completed elsewhere and knew were unnecessary.) Got the plugs and coil done and the next day: the exact same issue. Brought it in a second time and they brushed me off by saying they just hadn't properly cleared the old error codes. I didn't think that seemed correct, but went with their advice and had that done. The next day: the exact same issue. Made an appointment to bring it in for their third attempt at fixing the same initial problem which they hadn't correctly dealt with (after having already spent over $1,000 there). Was then told only one person there could work on this sort of thing (really?!?) and he would now be out for a week. So basically I'd have to just drive around like that until then, which one can assume would only further damage my car. Enough was enough so I went somewhere else and they actually did the work of examining the engine instead of just blindly relying on computer codes. The real problem was warped cylinder heads. Those were causing coolant to leak which caused the rattle upon startup that the computer had read as an ignition misfire. It wasn't the spark plugs or coil (and definitely not any of the other things Firestone tried to add-on that I am now so glad I rejected.) In the end, not only didn't they fix they problem, they actually exacerbated the situation, and on top of it I had to pay out the nose for their mistake. I would never trust them to touch my car again. They don't stand by their work and there's no accountability. They immediately attempt to shift blame to the customer, so be ready for that. Love this place! Totally trust them for my car. Honest & friendly. This is my favorite Firestone in the Twin Cities, and I have been to 3 others. They have fixed many things on my car, from brakes to wheel bearings, sway bar, etc. They are pretty speedy and if you have a Firestone card, you get extra discounts. My only complaint would be that it would be great if they had a shuttle/driver service to give you a ride home like some other places. Also their lobby, seating area is pretty no frills but does have comfortable seating, coffee & a TV. read more

I bring my cars to this Firestone location often due to the deferred interest options they offer. I like them, so I put up with the C level repairs I receive. I am the first to admit it. Case in point, I had $700 in repairs done there last month and two of the issues is still prevalent. The mechanics fix issues to get your car running and prevent it from blowing up, but it by NO means is decent quality work. Their prices are grossly higher than those around them. Shop around and you can easily find better prices with little or no effort. The staff you interact with at the front desk are nice. Often times you have to wait a couple minutes for them to appear, but they are welcoming and knowledgeable. In the end, I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone, well that's not true, maybe someone I didn't like. This Firestone location will keep your car on the road, but it will cost you and arm and a leg and the the repairs aren't that reliable. read more

Open Sundays 9-6pm. This was a huge help because very few car repair shops are open on Sundays. Took my car to get the tail lights fixed. Jeremy explained what they would do in detail and gave me an estimate for time as well as money. He called me later to explain that the problem was electrical - he had mentioned it might be that, in which case he would call me - and again, described what needed to be done, in detail. He also told me exactly how much it would cost, which matched what he had first told me when I dropped off the car. Really like a car shop when there are no surprises! read more

Went to this place a few months back to get my brakes checked. Unfortunately, I was talked into replacing the front brake pads and rotors after they told me the rotors were beyond the point of being able to machine them for much cheaper. For the next two months I still had constant squeaking. Finally brought it in to get checked out. Turns out they had made some mistakes with the original installation and of course fixed the problem for free (but only on one wheel). They then went on to urge me into replacing my rear brake pads and rotors, and if not done soon, the calipers would need to be replaced... So I drove to the dealership where I bought the car. They fixed the other tire that was still left squeaking and said I only needed new brake pads on the rear wheels, saving me a few hundred bucks that day. These guys like to offer you "discounts" on issues that they find, if you agree to have it done that day. Won't be back there again... read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before going. I went in to buy ONE tire because another tire shop (also 1 star review) tried to sell me a tire for $200. Firestone tells me that all four of my tires are bald and I'll need to buy 4, at a total cost of $800. I know for a fact my tires aren't bald because I know how to check them. I told them my tires weren't bald and they said "they're legally bald"- no, they were not and are not. Then they tried to get me to buy tires for $600 when I said I wasn't going to pay that much for tires. Wow talk about trying to get a sale. I wonder how many poor people they've gotten on this scam. I mean, these guys try really hard...but that's about it (they get the second star because of the effort). I recently had my headlights (both of them) replaced in Feb 2013 - again in Aug, again in Oct, again two weeks ago - yet they couldn't seem to figure out what was wrong. In fact I was told, "you need to go to the dealer, we won't replace them [headlights] anymore." This is even though the headlights have a 6 month warranty. After taking it out to a smaller, local place (Tory's in Burnsville) he figured it out in less than an hour - fixed it and even stayed late on a Friday to make sure I'd get my truck back before the weekend. It just seems like everything that these guys "fixed" on my car has had to be re-done (including the windshield wipers - really?). Again, they try really hard and seem to be decent guys, just not worth it - price wise or service wise. I won't be back and suggest somewhere else for you too. read more

Terrible customer services! I had a 7 am appointment to get by summer wheels and tires taken off and my winter wheels and tires put on. These was no mounting and balance, alignment, etc. need just unscrew the summer wheels and screw on the winter ones. I arrived for my appointment and they asked me to leave my car all day, I couldn't do that because I didn't have other transportation arranged because I scheduled the service to be done while I waited. I said I would have to wait because I didn't arrange for a ride. Then they said the wait would be 2-3 hours. 2-3 HOURS FOR A 15 MINUTE SERVICE THAT I HAD AN APPOINTMENT FOR!!!! They then proceeded to ask me where I bought my ties from, I bought both the summer and winter ties from Firestone. Then they asked me where I bought the rims from. I didn't see any reason why this would make a difference on the level of service I should receive, but I did. I also explained when I made the appointment and again when I checked in that there are stud lug nuts on the car now and the winter rims are the stock lug nuts so the studs must be removed. When my car finally went into the shop, the technician came out and asked me if I knew there were stud lug nuts on the car and there would be an extra charge for that. I said yes I knew and the extra charge was fine. The technician asked me if the studs could be left in for the winter tires, I had to explain to him why the could not be used. My service was complete after 2 1/2 hours of waiting. And explaining to them how to complete the task. Not impressed. read more

I was traveling and I needed to get it refreshed. I took my car with no previous problems to get a simple oil change. ($85) I got it back, and the next few days my car started making a loud rattling noise and I smelt burning oil. I looked under car and the entire underneath was covered in oil from leaking. So I brought it to a dealership, (having to spend more money!) And they told me it was missing the "O" ring used to seal and prevent leaks... Small mistake that could have lead to a huge disaster! Other than being forgetful, service was polite and done in a timely manner. However, maybe slow down a bit while working on someone else's vehicle. They also have a very rough parking lot. Be mindful of where the pot holes are while parking. read more

On Sunday February 17th, I drove my Audi to the Firestone Tire and Service store located on 66th Street in the Southdale Center in Edina MN. I had a puncture in my tire that wasn't holding air, and after inquiring about the situation over the phone , planned on getting it repaired quickly for the quoted $30. After the service center looked at my tire, Zach, the customer service advisor told me that the tire would not be repairable, and that I would need to purchase a new set of 4 tires. He did not present the damaged tire to me. When I suggested doing some research on tires, Zach discouraged me from driving more than 30 miles on the spare tire. While pondering my options, I read the Harvey Firestone quote on the wallpaper in the lobby, that stated "Honesty is the greatest business principle," and decided to go ahead and purchase new tires. Shortly afterwards, and now into hour two of my visit to the service center, Zach has called me back up to his counter (bully pulpit) and told me that I need new brakes. Concerned for my safety, he told me that driving any more on my brake pads would be dangerous because there is very little left on the brake pads. I decline. While waiting, I walked towards the auto service area, and see my Audi raised up on the automotive lift in the nearest repair bay. With the tires removed, I take a picture(BEFORE). Checking progress again, I see my Audi being lowered and the service technician kicking in the swing arms with his feet, intending to tuck them under the vehicle, so the car can roll off the lift in reverse. I see the swing arm closest to my vantage point is not tucked in completely and gets lodged in the backside of the front spoiler/splash guard. Unknown to the technician in the driver seat, the front end has flexed to the max and become separated from the passenger side of the front end. Zach is present in the area and sees this happening, and quickly commands the driver to stop reversing the car. He drives the car back forward to release the damaged splash guard off the lift arm. I witnessed the front bumper completely pulled and extended off the car and then flexed back and now hanging off in a resting position. My vehicle was then lifted up in another bay, which was the furthest from the customer lobby to review the damage to the bumper. Assuming they would review and share with me the extent of the damage afterwards, I wait patiently. Zach has started to eat his lunch at the counter. I approach him and ask him if he is going to address the damage done to the car. He is surprised that I know of the damage, and immediately says the bumper had damage before, and would not have gotten caught on the swing arm if not flawed. He said they are 're-attaching' and will be the same as it was before. I am now very concerned that I am not dealing with a customer service oriented professional or company. After three hours, my car is ready, and I am asked to pay for the new tires by Zach. I ask if I can see the car before I make the payment, and he reluctantly walks out to the car. He shows me the 're-attached' bumper and states that it looks like it did before. I had taken a picture (AFTER) and told him that I was not happy with his unwillingness to be upfront and honest about the situation and not comfortable making the payment for the tires without some plan of resolution for the body damage. He responded by accusing me of being like 'many others, whom take advantage of Firestone's deep pockets', and starts to become visibly agitated with my pursuit of some resolution. He tells me that I can call tomorrow and talk to the manager if I have a problem. With that, I pay for the tires, and when I request that he put a note on my invoice that there was damage to the body of the car, which he denies until asked again with another customer waiting next to me. The next day, I call store manager Josh, and asked him if he was aware of the situation from yesterday. Josh agrees that the situation was handled poorly. He then states that Zach didn't actually know how the car was damaged - despite witnessing it. With Zach present, I am put in a situation of my word against Zach during my return visit and pursuit of customer service and honesty. Zach has misrepresented the story. Josh states that he doesn't have his A Team working on Sundays, and that his weekday team may be able to repair the bumper to my satisfaction. After review with Josh we see that the bumper was re-attached to my car with zip ties. Josh has the weekday technician remove the zip ties and after another hour, I am presented with the vehicle again with a slightly improved but still separated. I am not pleased and will get quotes for real repair. He never followed up with me, and when body work was completed, they agreed to only pay for the bumper, and not the grill and lighting parts that come with the bumper. Wasted a lot of time, lost some faith, and doubt my tire puncture wasn't repairable in the first place. read more

I came in to get a rusted screw on my license plate loosened. It took about 2 minutes and cost $20. Pretty steep for next to nothing, especially when I was informed that if he couldn't loosen the screw it would still cost me $20. He got it unscrewed though, so not a total bust. read more

Always feel like I'm being oversold when I come to Firestone. Told I need to get tires rebalanced...with less than 3k miles. Told I needed TPMS sensors...when my vehicle has a central system and no TPMS sensors. Told I needed to replace brakes and rotors until I pressed and indicated that it was Firestone's responsibility. I work a couple blocks away and know that this store has gone through a management change and did some shaping up to what the old posts were. I definitely trust the guys here w/ my VW. While every other store in the area was quick to say no about a minor problem, these guys were quick to get my car back to me in a good price with no jerking around. Oh, boy, where should I start? Had vehicle towed there because oil pressure gauge showed nothing. Told them I suspected the oil pressure sending unit but had it towed just in case it was the oil pump. I also mentioned the left rear tire was low. So, what do they do but start it up and drive it into their facility. If it had been the oil pump it would have very likely damaged the engine. A while later they tell me it is the sending unit but at the price they wanted I said no. They ended up charging me over $70.00 dollars to tell me what I suspected and didn't even fill the left rear tire up with air. Gezzzzzzz. I could tell you the story of the woman that was sitting in their lobby for most of the day but it's her story to tell and not mine. Really really bad..... read more

I rarely do reviews, and when I do they are usually great because I am motivating by positive experiences. I didnt want to do this, but my car just reminded me again of the lousy services I have received from this place. On both my cars! First I took my Mountaineer to get some oil gasket fixed. When I came home, the oil was still leaking. I drove to St. Cloud and my coolant was all gone! everywhere I parked a left a puddle on the ground. I had to take it to the Firestone in St. Cloud before I could get it back on the road back home. When I took it to them they "fixed" it again, but my car was still dripping oil and coolant. Still does. I guess I didn't learn my lessons. I took my Camry for some break job. Since they touched my car, and I guess replaced my breaks with what I thought were new high-quality breaks, every time I'm reversing out of my garage the car squeaks loud enough to wake my neighbours up. This has been months now. When I took it to them shortly after they so called fixed it, they said they found no issues. Either my wife and I (and our neighbours) are going crazy or the folks at this shop dont know what they are doing. I'm going to bet on the latter. In sum, dont take your car here. Not only would they recommend you do all sort of unnecessary work, they will have you coming back multiple times to fix the same issue, and it still will not be fixed. read more

The staff was very polite and informative in taking me through my engine breakdown and my options in repairing it. Terrible experience and customer service. They told me that whoever last changed my oil had damaged my oil pan by using an oversized drain plug and I needed to replace it for $425 + labor (the last oil change was done by Firestone). I declined to have it replaced and they told me that they were unable to perform the oil change because of the damage. I went to a smaller shop, I used to frequent, and they saw ZERO problems with my oil pan and went ahead and changed my oil with no issues. This is a classic case of taking advantage of someone who isn't a auto professional. They insisted it needed to be done, but luckily I sought a second opinion. I got my tires done here a little less than a year ago. While the car was in, the technician called me telling me my TPMS sensors were "rusted on" and he would have to break them to get the old tires off and new tires on. He said this was something that is very common in Minnesota... The car is 5 years old, treated for rust, and was seeing its first ever winter after living in Arkansas it's entire life. He wanted something crazy like $180 per sensor and told me if I didn't do it my dashboard light would stay on forever. I told him I didn't understand how moisture would form or salt would appear inside my tire but to put the new tires on without the sensor and I'll have to deal with the light. Miraculously, a few minutes after hanging up he called back saying he was able to get all the sensors off without breaking them.. When I picked the car up and brought it home, half the lug nuts were not torqued to spec and one of the lug nuts was visibly loose, only a turn or two from completely coming off. One of the tires was also low on air. 11 months later I have filled this tire up with air every 2-3 weeks as it was clearly not seated correctly. I had a slow leak in one of my tires. Brought it in to be fixed because they are conveniently located across the street from my office. They said they fixed it, but couldn't tell me what the problem was. When I got back in the car, there was a light on in the car that said one of the tire sensors was broken. I went back in to ask them what happened and they said that the light was on when I dropped it off. I am absolutely sure the light was NOT on. I argued with them about it for a bit and they said I needed to take it to a dealer to replace the $100 sensor (that they broke.) A week later, my tire still has a slow leak and now I have this annoying light on my dash board. I bring the car in to my usual honest wonderful mechanic in St. Paul. They find a nail in the tire, take it out, patch it and replace the sensor that they broke. The convenience of being near work IS NOT WORTH IT! Stay away from these jokers. They can't fix a tire and don't take any responsibility for their mistakes! read more
