I hadn't been to Fireside in well over 20 years. I always enjoy a good prime rib and figured it would be a fun birthday trip. Overall the establishment was clean. I personally didn't care to walk into a place to enjoy a meal and have political coverage all over the tvs. I get that it's a small town, but sometimes you just want a break from all that. The salad bar was great with lots of options. The prime rib was at the end of it's run. After I ordered mine a few tables over they were told they were sold out. The piece I got was clearly towards the end. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I'm all about supporting small business but was it worth the hour drive each way and almost double the price of Texas Roadhouse? No. Also be prepared that because it's a small town the other clientele are more concerned about the strangers at their steakhouse than they are their own meal. A couple of old midwestern who now reside in Florida looking for good Beef. We stumbled across Fireside via yelp when driving through Iowa. The ribeye and prime rib were flavorful, tender and generously portioned. The salad bar has lots of options and was wonderful. The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated and waitstaff were friendly and attentive. We couldn't have been happier with our find in Anton Iowa. read more

The Fireside for many years has a been a fantastic place to eat. I recently took my family there for Sunday lunch and of course the food was fantastic. The only thing that bothered everyone is that no one was wearing a mask...especially those serving food. I thought that was very careless and disrespectful of their customers and unfortunately we won't be back until they uphold their end of being socially responsible. read more

Prime rib was excellent as always. They have added sweet potato fries to the menu. They were great too. Only disappoint was not having the complimentary cup of ice cream after dinner. Prices are extremely cheap for the quantity and quality of food. The salad bar is limited, but the soup they had (vegetable beef) was good. Menu is not huge, but no reason to stray away from the prime rib or steaks. I have heard the fried chicken is good, but have never tried it. The staff was friendly and attentive. The Owner Bob is a great guy very personal with all his customers. You can tell he is genuinely happy to see them happy. The Place has vastly improved over his new ownership. Food is great and plentiful, Even the petite cut is large enough to fill up a grown adult. If I lived in state this would be THE steakhouse I would frequent. If they opened for lunch as well as dinner I'm sure it would see plenty of business. read more

I love this place, the prime rib is the best and if you get the combo with the shrimp its even better. The salad bar is awesome and I love the soup that come with the salad bar...who knew it had prime rib in it??? We try to come up here for dinner as often as possible and with us living an hour away, its more than worth it. Try it and you won't be disappointed!!! read more

We look forward to visiting this restaurant every time we make a trip to Iowa to visit family. We have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. The prime rib is superb, the steak excellent, and the broasted chicken is great. You can't go wrong on any choice. The service is always friendly and we have always been well taken care of. It does tend to get busy after 6:00, but it is worth the wait (which is never long)! Come hungry as the portions are plentiful. We always leave with to-go boxes. And that's a bonus for lunch the next day! read more

This is a great steakhouse as far as the food, service, and prices go. The ambiance is nothing special , but the food is fantastic! The prime rib is real prime not choice or select and they have 3 sizes to chose from including a 30 oz. the salad bar is also very good as are the potato choices. read more

My husband and I went there a week ago today. It took a half an hour for anybody to even come to our table to take our drink order and send us off to the salad bar. We each ordered a steak entree and we ordered shrimp for us to share. they brought the shrimp out first so I figure they brought it out as an appetizer which is fine, but just after we finished the shrimp our waitress brought us our checks. Mind you this was now an hour and a half after we walked into this restaurant and sat down I said to her "but we ordered steaks?" Come to find out she didn't even put in our order into the kitchen. We literally sat there an hour and a half and she did not put in our entrees. I talked to the owner who said he would send us a gift certificate oh, it is now a week later and nothing has showed up in my mailbox so I called him today and got the same apology as last week. Apparently he was too busy this week to send it out, just like last Saturday when we were in there they were too busy to take our order or to put our order into the kitchen or to get us our drinks. he basically told me he didn't know what to tell me and abruptly and rudely let me go. the only thing about this visit that I'm thankful for is that by not putting in our entrees, it probably saved us about $60-75. Apparently this place is not in the business of righting wrongs, or even trying to give decent service to the people that are physically sitting there at that time. About a year ago we went as well and I wasn't impressed then either. I mean really what kind of place offers $30 steak entrees but puts "bacos" on the salad bar instead of real bacon? and to top it all off last Saturday after I got home having eaten the salad bar and the shrimp, I ended up with emergency diarrhea that indicates that I probably ended up with a touch of food poisoning as well. read more
