We happened to come upon this store while wondering in the historic district of Newport, Oregon…read more The name of the store beckoned me to come in and check out all of its unique, scary, creepy and dark merchandise. This isn't a store for all as some of the items may turn a stomach or two. Lots of antique and vintage skulls, sculptures, lots of Victorian period items, weird medical devices that were used somewhere at sometime. My mouth did drop open a time or two while browsing. I understand that they make their own candles which made the store smell delightful. Pricing is fair for most items. I did end up with a couple of prized possessions. I saw that they perform tarot readings in the back of the store for a fee. Service was friendly and helpful. If I lived here I know I would probably be a regular shopper here.

While I am still pretty clueless about most of the items they sell, I have continue to learn a lot by going in and asking about any/every interesting thing I see. It's incredibly fascinating and I learn something new every time. Their friendliness and willingness to talk/teach while not being judgemental or condescending is so very appreciated. They seem to genuinely enjoy what they do and talking with visitors. I have finally bought some things too, instead of just going in and aimlessly looking around and asking silly questions. I have picked up two dream books and have my eye on a couple of others that I would love to purchase if they are still available when I come back. I've also grabbed a couple of the smaller (and less expensive) geodes that I just thought were beautiful, and probably some other small pieces that I can't remember at the moment. This last time I went in, I finally asked about this red Lucky Cat bank I have been eyeing for months (a year??) now. I went in with my boyfriend and he bought it for me. I know it's silly but I spent a lot of time thinking about that Lucky Cat and I am so happy nobody else bought it before us because it makes me really happy to have it now. Sometimes it's just the little things :) And with their range of items, something is bound to stand out to you like that too. I have absolutely no complaints and wouldn't change a single thing about this shop, but I know that some people might have a problem with the "mess". I don't know if I even feel comfortable calling it a "mess", I think they just have a lot going on, and they've mentioned that they are always working on reorganizing and going through new things. I personally think it adds to the appeal though a little bit. Another reviewer says it's like a treasure hunt, and I absolutely agree! If you've made it this far in my review, it probably already goes without saying that this is one of my favorite little shops in Waldport, I'm so grateful it's here, and I am always looking forward to my next visit!

My partner and I were walking around the store with about 8 other patrons and we noticed that three different customers tried to interact with the owner (?), a man who was searching on his phone the whole time. Two ladies were trying to talk to him about the store pup, while another guy was trying to make chit-chat and both either received a few grumbles or an inaudible response. He didn't ever look up from his phone. This type of service bums us out and we decided to return our handfuls of specimens that we carefully picked out while walking through their well-stocked store.

I would give this store 0 stars if possible. The owner has the worst customer service ever! Yes,…read morethe OWNER! When we were looking around, a lady tried to come into the store with a motorized scooter. The woman got maybe 2 feet into the door when the owner starting telling the woman there was no room for her in the store and kept telling her to not break anything. She repeatedly said "my store is not made for people with scooters". We should of left then because it only got worse. Then, when my mom and I were looking at anklets, I was trying them on my moms ankle to see if they would fit. The owner asked us if we were looking for something as is we were trying to steal it in the most condescending manner. We moved on to another part of the store brushing it off. Then the owner walked past us and bent down right in front of us and looked directly at my moms ankle to see if she was wearing an anklet. The audacity! Then when we were checking out, we had two items a sign and an anklet, the owner stated "oh this anklet should work for bigger ankles like yours" to my mother. She lost definitely lost our business. We used to visit this shop every year as it is unique. We will NEVER be back! I have never been so shell shocked and appalled by ones behavior. As someone who works in customer service myself, you always want to be accommodating to a customer. Even if she had the only shop in Depoe bay, I still would not shop here.
