While I am still pretty clueless about most of the items they sell, I have continue to learn a lot by going in and asking about any/every interesting thing I see. It's incredibly fascinating and I learn something new every time. Their friendliness and willingness to talk/teach while not being judgemental or condescending is so very appreciated. They seem to genuinely enjoy what they do and talking with visitors. I have finally bought some things too, instead of just going in and aimlessly looking around and asking silly questions. I have picked up two dream books and have my eye on a couple of others that I would love to purchase if they are still available when I come back. I've also grabbed a couple of the smaller (and less expensive) geodes that I just thought were beautiful, and probably some other small pieces that I can't remember at the moment. This last time I went in, I finally asked about this red Lucky Cat bank I have been eyeing for months (a year??) now. I went in with my boyfriend and he bought it for me. I know it's silly but I spent a lot of time thinking about that Lucky Cat and I am so happy nobody else bought it before us because it makes me really happy to have it now. Sometimes it's just the little things :) And with their range of items, something is bound to stand out to you like that too. I have absolutely no complaints and wouldn't change a single thing about this shop, but I know that some people might have a problem with the "mess". I don't know if I even feel comfortable calling it a "mess", I think they just have a lot going on, and they've mentioned that they are always working on reorganizing and going through new things. I personally think it adds to the appeal though a little bit. Another reviewer says it's like a treasure hunt, and I absolutely agree! If you've made it this far in my review, it probably already goes without saying that this is one of my favorite little shops in Waldport, I'm so grateful it's here, and I am always looking forward to my next visit!

Never been, I decided to check it out, especially as supporter of indie bookstores. The past four days I've stopped by bookstores in Bandon, Waldsport, Manzanita, and Lincoln City. It's always feels like a combo of adventure, treasure hunt, and spontaneity checking out the shelves. Made it up the stairs, opened the door gate, and greeted the presumed owner. She was very welcoming and offered assistance to any genre of interest in the bookstore. Always a good sign when others were also actively browsing. I always make a beeline to cookbooks. I found a particular title of interest, became giddy, and definitely will make the sale. To be fair, I did wander other sections too. Well arranged, well curated, and that bookstore scent. Looks like cash transactions are preferred over cards, just an fyi. Thankfully, my purchase was an even twenty bucks. Completed my purchase and wished the owner a good day. I wish I knew the journey of how this title and particular find found its way to Nye Beach Book House. I also wonder how folks with mobility limitations can visit this book store with stairs and its tight spots for maneuverbility. Me being a notorious klutz, I made sure to take care going up and down the stairs. A spontaneous visit and finding this title, I later discover it's worth over five to nearly seven times what was paid. This bookstore is quirky, unique, and definitely worth a visit for any bibliophile!

They have all kinds of books, comics, etc. I like some British mystery writers and they had several of their books which are not typically easy to find in a used book store. We stopped because the look of the place from the outside was intriguing -- the house is dolled up and looks like it may have been somebody's beach home at one tie -- and the second story may still be. Hard to tell. They have a very limited selection of mostly metaphysical books, though there are a few others in the mix. We didn't find anything we needed, but it's an interesting place. I suspect their selection is wider in the summer months when the area is full of visitors and shoppers.

In fact, the guy who was helping us had this really great conversation with my wife about all the Stephen King novels. She really enjoys his writings and I never quite got into a lot of his works so I'm sure she enjoyed that conversation, and I enjoyed it so much that I think I might start reading some of his novels. I just thoroughly enjoyed talking to that guy, and got some great books in the process. I would say that if you like history or fiction, this is definitely the store for you. By coincidence the day before while driving out to Cannon Beach from Depoe Bay, I caught an insightful NPR segment on the radio that discussed the history and future of indie bookstores. One of the panelists had their book on the non fiction shelf while at Bob's Beach Books, The Bookshop by Evan Friss.

Visiting them on a day they were open was my chance to see what they had. Unfortunately I couldn't check in here on Yelp because the cell service is not all that great down here, but I have pictures to prove that I visited. They have like every book and book accessory available, used and new. They are neatly organized by genre, which I truly appreciated. I picked up a novel by Michael Thomas Ford and a thumb thing for reading if I'm reading with one hand (whoever invented this thing is very smart and deserves a medal). I also got my mom a gardening journal as a possible Christmas present. My mom loves to garden so I think she'll love this. My boyfriend is a huge fan of Batman and One Piece and got himself some Batman comics and some One Piece manga books. The lady working the counter and who checked out books out was very nice and welcoming. She was also helping out a few people that needed assistance. With bookstores starting to become a thing of the past, Bob's is doing a great job staying in business and I hope they stay open for a very long time.
