I drove 20 minutes south just to go here. The owner was talking with an older couple while I looked at some bowls. She said, "Those two are sold," and I thought she was talking to the couple she had been speaking to. Then, she walks right behind me and says loudly, "Those two are sold! I'll put them back." She was very rude. We quickly left and won't return. I'm not sure why you wouldn't keep sold pieces in the back, or at least be polite when someone is looking at them. As a small business owner, a decent demeanor is important. If you like to support artists, this is a great spot. I guess just hope the owner is in a good mood?

"She's worked hard to create a shop with high standards of art, health and customer service. In 1993, Bonnie Jean was a member of the first class on disease prevention given by the Alliance of Professional Tattooists, a trade group for tattooists which is focused on prevention of disease transmission." I took that right off her page. This lovely ocean village gets to be graced now by her talent as she works out of her lovely and homey studio. Her equipment is the best, Lexus style as Diane the artist working on my tattoo told me. There are 2 shops, one in Eugene called Tattoo by Design and this one in Yachats. Diane works between both places and I was lucky she happened to be here when I just had to finally get a new tattoo. This one was on my bucket list because I recently moved into the town and planned on having my tat here to celebrate my life here. Of course it had to be a mermaid. I went looking online and found my perfect girl. Diane captured her perfectly in one session complete with color. The time was not too long and the price was not either. Looking forward to getting to know my mermaid more and the next time I get the craving I won't need to go far to this fab tattoo shop.

Do NOT go to this shop. We ended up getting kicked out of the shop and yelled at because we changed…read moreour minds about renting. The owner (Russel) is very rude, angry, and aggressive. My partner and I went to rent boards from him and check out his shop. He payed little attention to us and was passive aggressive when answering questions. We were inquiring about renting wetsuits and boards from him, so he took our credit card information and charged our card. While going through the rental process we quickly realized we did not want to rent from this guy because of his attitude and we generally just felt off. My partner simply asked him if he could refund his card because changed our minds, and the owner started yelling at him. He said that we waisted an hour of his time and yelled at us to get out of his shop and said that my partner "got in his face". He then proceeded to aggressively get in my partners face and tell us how rude we are. He slammed his shop door and told us he wasn't giving us our money back. Since then, we have spoken to people in the Newport community that have heard similar stories and the he is not a good member of the south beach community. They have urged us to leave reviews because Russel apparently has been threatening people by text/email to take down any bad reviews. Please do not go to this shop and give him business.
