This place sells all kinds of beads, my achilles heel right there in Yachats. The place sparkles with pretty glass colored beads as well as jewelry and other craft items hanging around. There's all kinds of crystals hanging in the window. Now that I discovered that this is not some sort of place that sells dusty old religious Virgin Mary statues this will be a normal stop for me.

The diamonds were irregularly spaced, tilted at different angles, set at irregular heights and they snagged on everything. The ring is too embarrassing to wear. They were unwilling to make any corrections without charging me and offered no compensation of any kind for my deep disappointment and expense. They blamed the problem on the varied sizes of the diamonds. If that were the problem, they should have told me they could only make an ugly ring with them.  They displayed no pride in their craft or responsibility for their sale. I took the ugly ring to Richard Gretz Goldsmith who is redesigning it from scratch with my diamonds at less than what Jordans charged me. And Gretz offers a guarantee that if I dislike the ring for any reason I get my money back. I wish I had seen the other woman's review before I took my diamonds to Jordan's.

My partner and I were walking around the store with about 8 other patrons and we noticed that three different customers tried to interact with the owner (?), a man who was searching on his phone the whole time. Two ladies were trying to talk to him about the store pup, while another guy was trying to make chit-chat and both either received a few grumbles or an inaudible response. He didn't ever look up from his phone. This type of service bums us out and we decided to return our handfuls of specimens that we carefully picked out while walking through their well-stocked store.

I had a great experience with Olufson Designs. I wandered in one day with questions about having my…read morering sized differently. They took detailed photos of the ring before, which were included on the estimate and receipt, and gave a clear estimate of what to expect. This is after we dropped it off at a different shop in Albany to have two bands soldered together, where photos were not taken of the ring at drop off and he felt overall uneasy about that experience. I really felt like everyone was friendly and helpful!

About a year ago, I brought a ring in to Olufson to inquire about having it appraised. The sales…read moreassociate was nice, told me they don't do appraisals, and that they generally don't recommend an appraisal them unless you are planning on selling the ring (strange advice if you ask me. I wanted to have it appraised for insurance). I don't think she knew that I brought the ring in a year or two earlier to have the gem identified (it was an inherited ring and we didn't know what the gem was). And I was told at the time that it was a high quality gem with high quality diamonds on it. She offered to buy it on the spot for $388. I politely declined knowing that the ring was likely worth a lot more. I finally had it appraised and the replacement value is off the charts. I know that replacement/insurance value is not equal to a purchase/selling price AT ALL, but the gold alone is worth 10x what they offered me. So shady. I would never go back to Olufson after this. Moral of the story: Always ALWAYS get a second opinion. Never sell jewelry on the spot. And maybe avoid Olufson.
