Firepower Inc. is just what the doctor ordered. The staff was friendly and helpful. We went to shoot at the range and were impressed at the selection for only $5 each. Upon surrendering our NY driver's licences (Nooo York Citay!), the guy behind the counter did pull a pop quiz on my wife with regards to safe handling for the weapon. He was friendly, and I thought it was prudent. (Plus, my wife made me proud.) I did get the feeling that if she mishandled the pistol, they would have refused to let us shoot. I can respect that. The selection for sale is impressive as well. The store doesn't look like much on the outside. But why should it. I also respect the fact that they a a second range for law enforcement and patrons who pass their qualifying test. I look forward to taking classes here when I move to Charlotte. read more

The worst customer service ever,don't even waste your time or money because they act as if they don't want either.They have a nice selection of guns but they act as if they don't care to sell any of them.Its also disappointing that you can't shoot high powered rifles at this so called range.They can keep their attitudes and at best mediocre shooting range.I took my money to Point Blank which is right around the corner and it is a nicer facility with a more professional staff. read more

The shooting range here is DANGEROUS. I felt extremely uncomfortable as other shooters (with seemingly very little firearm experience) practiced terrible firearm safety. There was not an employee or RSO supervising the range there to advise them how to act and what not to do. Other people were walking around with loaded firearms as the had to reload in the back and then walk to their shooting station. I would have felt much safer if each shooting station had a tray where you could load your magazines instead of walking to the back and doing it at the table. I also did not like leaving all my stuff back there unattended. In the storefront the staff was friendly and knowledgable. This an excellent store & range, with one drawback. The range is poorly cooled & gets very hot in the summer. OK, that's out of the way. In all other aspects I really like this place. They don't try to skin you alive on prices like some stores do, & the staff is first rate. I have found them to be very helpful. They do not suffer fools lightly; some people don't like this but I see it as a big plus! Condescending? Thats putting it mildly. My wife, son (28yrs), and I attempted to practice our shooting at Firepower two fridays ago. We were degraded, humiliated, and basically made to feel as though we were not welcome. I was there to practice, my wife was there to try out her new 380 since switching from her 38 revolver. My son was going to work with her on the differences. The 3 of us have concealed training, experience shooting, and a appreciation for guns. Well we were told our training was of no value since the classes in Meck. County are useless. They went on to say the trainers who provide the instruction are incompetent. We were told only one lane would be available to us since my wife hesitated when quizzed on her ability after having been humiliated. I guess if you don't fit their shooters profile than you are discounted. Poor excuse for a business. read more

Good place to shoot. Rented a lane for 30 minutes in a practically empty range and was five minutes or so over and they charged us extra. It was ok but I'll be going back to Eagle Guns in Concord for my range of choice. read more

Great place to shoot. I've been going to Firepower for the last several months to shoot and have been very satisfied every time. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable as well as willing to guide beginning shooters. They have a good selection of hand guns for rent as well as plenty of weapons for sale in the showroom. If they had a rifle range the rating would be a 5. All in all, I'll keep going back for a long time. Very satisfied. read more

My CCW class reserved the range for the qualifications. The moment we walked through the door we were treated like crap. Our instructor was treated rudely, aggressively, and like an idiot. Our instructor is one of the most respected instructors in NC . He had all of the documents needed but that wasn't enough for them. I stopped in there a few times to look at their stock and prices. I also wanted to get the feel for the character of the staff. I learned that if you are cool with them they will be the same with you and explain anything you don't understand. I got some great advice on a small lightweight backup pistol, which I ended up buying and got some free range time with it. I am going back for a 45 when my savings builds back up. It is easy to drop a grand on a good piece and the accessories that you need with it. I found the staff to be very helpful and knowledgable, don't get hung up on their appearance they seems to be a nice bunch of guys some hippie looking and some para military looking. I bet they have a broad range of experience with firearms and people between them. read more

I am a regular customer of Firepower. They might not have as big an inventory as the biggest dealer in Charlotte, but it's very good and I my thought is you can find just about anything you are looking for there. Last handgun I was looking for they had in stock. Moreover, their prices are VERY good and very competitive. The staff is excellent, with nice personalities and very helpful. I enjoy going there for that as well. When you go there to shoot, they check out your equipment and ammo just to make sure everything is acceptable. They also check YOU out to make sure you know what you are doing. They will allow an inexperienced shooter on the range, but ONLY if they are "under the wing" of someone they know to be competent. They have two shooting ranges. Both are great except for one issue. (See below) The main one behind the main counter has a big window. There, they can check to make sure you are not doing anything you shouldn't, like shooting off rounds too quickly. The folks are also quick to help, in case there is a problem with a gun, like a jam, etc. Of course, you have to have hearing and eye protection to shoot, and they will rent you that, along with any of a large assortment of handguns, etc. if you need one. The second is pretty private, and you have to qualify with a demonstration of your handling and shooting skills for them to let you use it at all. The ONLY downside with both ranges is that they are not air conditioned, of course, and on a very hot day, it can get pretty warm in there. Mel read more

Great place. Very knowledgeable staff. They have always been very friendly to me, even when they were pretty busy. Summer time gets pretty hot in the range, but it's OK for 30-45 minutes at a time. Prices are some of the best in the area. read more

Firepower is a very well-stocked, compact gun shop and range. I've been here many times and always been treated well. The staff is very knowledgeable and are quick to admit that one of them specializes in a certain type of weapon than the other and they'll jump in to assist (1911/AR15/bolt action). The range is small and a bit sensitive to outdoor temperature changes, but the staff keeps a good eye on it and you feel safe. $5/gun rentals is a great deal. They have about 50 handguns (many late-model) that you can rent. It's a cheap, easy way ($5 +ammo) to see if you like a certain gun. read more

I went into Firepower with cash in hand to buy a present for my boyfriend, as a girl walking in there alone I immediately felt like they didn't think I knew what I wanted. I walked in knowing the specs of what I was looking for but then they didn't know what I was speaking about. I put money down on the gun I was purchasing and said I'd come back with my boyfriend so he could fill out the paperwork. When we came back the staff was just plain rude! We had all the money and the paperwork filled out and some of the staff just made fun of me and didn't know some of the parts on the gun we were buying. If you are selling a product make sure you know it inside and out. We ended up getting our money back and going to check out Hyatt where they are friendly, helpful and have knowledge of what they are selling. read more

I purchased a gun and shot it and didn't work. It was a simple manufacturing defect so I took it back to firepower and a guy called "hippie" was disrespectful to me about returning the gun. He has no professional experience and should not work as a sales person. I will never return to firepower just because of the idiot I had to deal with. He has no respect and its pretty sad that I had to call the manager. They should make "hippie" a janitor if he wants to continue working at firepower but I sincerely doubt he could use a broom without making more of a mess. The manager was helpfull in resolving my problem while "hippie" was still eating pizza while trying to "help" me. Hippie is a white male with glasses and a dirty long beard. Not to be confused with the man who sold me my pistol with a all white beard he was actually a professional. Hope this helps someone out there to avoid a bad experience. read more

I will not be back. Went in to buy a mag, second individual in the door and could not get customer service. They catered to the individuals going to the fireing range above everyone else. And when i finally recieved service, the gentleman that helped me was very rude and, quite frankly, insulted my intelligence by questioning my mag choice (in a manner as if i was oblivious to firearms). I will not recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

So I really wish someone else in Charlotte would open a shooting range. Im really starting to lose faith in firepower. I go in today to shoot and use my range card and purchase 2 $0.75 paper targets. All goes well and I enjoy my time until I come out to pay and go on my way.... I go to checkout and my hour range time card was going to be forfeited for only 30 min in the range. This is fine no big deal. THEN he rings up the targets and the total is $1.61. I pull out a debit card and he then tells me I cant use the card on such a small charge, which is pretty understandable. So I then check to see how much cash i have. Turns out I have $1.59 exactly. He then tells me that that just wont do... So he then tells me what i'll HAVE to do is purchase $10 more of stuff from them to be able to pay. This is just pitiful and sad that a family owned business really feels that its necessary to bend me over and piss me off over 2 cents. After the amount of money I have spent there and the people i've brought in what im gathering from this is that as a returning customer im not worth 2 pennies to them. Yeah its my fault for not having the 2 pennies technically but SERIOUSLY..... sometimes people need to take a step back and remember whos paying their pay checks. It may be 2 pennies but I can assure you that i will take my 2 pennies somewhere else that appreciates my business from now on. And they can be SURE that i will share this with as many people as i can that plan on visiting this place. They may have their 2 cents today but I promise i will talk some people out of making any big purchases there in the future. Horrible customer service is their business. I have been to Firepower NC on multiple occasions and on all occasions have never received good service. On a recent sunday afternoon I decided I wanted to go to the gun range and called Firepower NC at 2pm. I spoke with a member of the staff and asked if they were open since it was Sunday and I also asked if they were busy. The staff member replied that they were open until 5pm and were not busy, so I told him I would come in about a half an hour to which he acknowledged and said was fine since their ranges didn't stop until 4pm. I got in my car and drove a half an hour down to Firepower NC. When I got there the gates to the parking lot were locked shut, so I stopped outside of the gates and walked inside. There were 2 staff members there behind the counter and neither one bothered to acknowledge me, then the staff member that I spoke with walked into their showroom and said they were closing because they weren't busy. I told that staff member that I had just called 30 minutes earlier and said I would be coming in and his response was simply that it wasn't busy enough and they were closing. He didn't bother to apologize or acknowledge our conversation over the phone, simply that they were closing. That was the last straw for me, in the past I just thought their staff was rude and didn't care about helping customers, but I will never be going back to firepower nc. I am in the market for a new handgun as well, and they will definitely not be getting my business. There are other gun ranges in NC that I have been to and have had much better service and much nicer facilities. Firepower NC gives shooting ranges a bad name and they have some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in any type of retail establishment. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a shooting range and I personally will never be going back to this poor excuse for a gun shop, range and business. read more

Recently went into this store to pick up a firearm transfer that had been mailed there. I had been here a few times before sometimes with a good experience others just hit or miss. Within seconds of walking into the store I was treated like an idiot for not knowing their particular method of storing mailed firearms. The man behind the counter was so rude to me that I thought he may have been joking at first, after talking to him further I quickly realized that he was just condescending and a complete asshole. Once I began filling out the paperwork so I could just get out of there with my gun he abruptly shoved his hand in my face to make me stop filling it out so her could finish his portion of the paperwork. I have never been treated so rudely in any gun store in my life, and by no means am I an idiot when it comes to firearms or am I easily insulted, being that I come from a special operations background. I will never be visiting this store/range again and will advise everyone I know to stay away from it. read more
