Excellent service! I have bought, and had them install a fireplace for me. Mark (the owner) is more…read moreknowledgeable than any other person I've contacted. (Including a few stores I've called) I had received a few different bids from other companies, and his was substantially less for what I had done. I had this done approximately 3 years ago, and wanted to write this sooner, but there was not a website at that time. If I had a question he had answer for any question or concern I had. He also took the time to explain questions I had that I didn't even think to ask, but would have wondered about In the future. After the projected was completed, it looked phenomenal! I also had a problem with an older gas fireplace in my basement last winter so I called him, and left him a message. I received a call back the next day, and referred me to his son who has a service based business. At this point I had already talked to a few other people/places just to get an idea of what it might cost to fix, and was told by most of them they would not be able to get anyone there to come take a look for at least a month+. so I gave his son a call, not only was around $25.00-$30.00 cheaper than anyone I had talked he said he'd be able to schedule me in two days later! he let me know there is hour window that I needed to be there, and explained to me that certain service calls require more time than others. he also asked me a few general questions concerning what the fireplace was doing or wasn't doing. Two days later he showed up, and was there 5 minutes early. He looked pretty young, (which kind of surprised me) he was very polite when he arrived. I showed him to my problematic fireplace. he took a closer look at the fireplace, and then proceeded to ask me a few questions. he said he was almost positive he knew which part was causing the problem, and gave me a brief explanation as to why he thought that. (I didn't know what to think, he had not even touched the fireplace at this point......) he started taking it apart, and pointed out this sensor and explained how it worked, and why this could be causing the problem. All the time we were making small talk, and joking around. he ran a few tests on it, after trying to light it. The tests confirmed what he had Initially thought was in fact the issue. he replaced the sensor, and it fired right up. He even cleaned the fireplace, and while he was doing so he gave me a easy to understand version off how my particular fireplace operated, and seemed confident, and knowledgeable about the information he was giving me. he answered all off my questions. he also gave me some basic maintenance tips. These guys know their stuff, there is no doubt about that. I have recommended both to friends of mine, and all of them have had very professional, and pleasant experiences working with both of them. I will definitely continue to give their names out! Matt is the one that fixed my broken fireplace this is his website. www.midwestfireplaceservice.com

I chose this company after many people on the Nextdoor app recommended them and I did my research…read more We have never owned a home with a working fireplace before. Ours is a gas, direct vent fireplace. So we wanted piece of mind knowing that our home is completely safe and how to use the fireplace. I checked with the BBB, Facebook posts and their awesome website. Their website is a must to check out!! They have multiple videos for the work that they do on which type of fireplace you have. Ron walks you through what they do and how it benefits your family and your home. We had James Yoshida over as the technician. We have two boys (4 & 2) that were also home and very interested in who he was and what he was doing. James laid down blankets to protect our floor from any mess. He took things apart and serviced the fireplace. Vacuumed the logs, replaced the embers, cleaned the glass and painted the inside to look new. He made sure before he painted that no one was allergic to paint fumes. Which I thought was a great question to ask as you never know. My children were all up in his business asking questions and James had the patience to answer them. (They has good questions) James even blew up a glove for the kiddos to share. It was refreshing to invite a stranger into your home and have them leave as a friend would. I highly recommend the company. I also wanted to mention Ron as each time I called, he took the time to answer my questions. At first when I told him I was gathering quotes, I hung up from him thinking that was nice to not feel pressured to have to set up an appointment right away or make a split decision. I called back after the service was performed to gather more clarification and Ron nailed my questions. Finally, we have a digital copy of the service performed along with photos of before, during and after. We will see them again next Winter.

Disappointed that they charge us more than quoted, without acknowledging why. I can't help but assume they have no fee schedule, and make it up as they go along. Also when they arrived, they neglected to tell us they did not have caps, but had to order one in. So we had to pay a second service charge to have the cap installed and ordered. Since we were dealing with animals, and they knew that, I expected them to tell me on the phone they did not have the ability to cap the same day (as I had requested this on the call). Overall way more expensive than it needed to be, since they were less than forthcoming.

Well, I was pretty stoked about the wood-burning stove in our house. I decided to schedule a maintenance/chimney sweep for the stove, and had heard good things about Top Hat. It takes a little bit of patience to make initial contact with Top Hat. I didn't use their online tool for contact but rather called Steven and left a voicemail. It took him a few days to get back to me, which is understandable for a small business serving such a big area. Since I didn't use the online contact tool, I don't know if they would be quicker or not. Additionally, I'm sure this time of year is exceptionally busy with people preparing for winter. Scheduling an appointment for an inspection was incredibly easy. Top Hat was able to provide a 1-hour time slot for when they would arrive. Such a minimal time limit is exceptionally rare for any kind of contract/maintenance/repair work. Heck, even the cable and internet companies require about 4 hours of availability. Steven and his assistant were very professional, and worked quickly. Steven answered all of my questions, even though I know some of them were ignorant concerning fireplaces/stoves. Even though our wood stove is not up to code, I feel confident that Top Hat would do a fantastic job renovating the area (check their website for photos). He even provided a loose estimate of what kind of repairs we would need. Price for service was exactly as stated on the phone, and if/when we decide to make changes to our wood stove, we will be contacting Top Hat.
