She wanted a sandwich. I asked Yelp and it pointed us to Newk's Eatery, and I remembered a having a good experience at one ten years ago in Panama City Florida so it felt like a safe bet. A full parking lot meant the lunch rush was in full swing but the line moved quickly and we were ordering in short order, her choosing a veggie sandwich with pimento cheese plus potato salad on the side while I stayed keto with a Cobb salad and no croutons. Despite the crowd, it didn't take long before we were seated and dining. Everything was fresh and satisfying, the kind of simple lunch that hits exactly right when you're on the road and just need good food without any fuss. Mrs. K. was fed and happy which is always the goal. My salad was generous and well balanced, her sandwich was exactly what she wanted, and the whole stop felt easy and pleasant. If you're not keto, those breadsticks are a great snack too. But for us, this was a quick, delicious lunch that kept the day moving smoothly and we were back on the road quickly. I also got a side of oatmeal, thinking it was going to be a little cup, and it was a nice bowl. Brought over half of it back to eat later. Coffees: we orders the lavender love and cafe Leo. When visiting Jonesboro, we decided to grab lunch at this cute cafe in the entertainment district…read moredowntown. The inside decor was very eclectic with art, paper stars hanging from the ceiling, and mix-matched furniture. It felt very fun. We chose to sit in a booth by the window around 1:00. There was only one other table of patrons when we arrived. It was very cold inside, but it looked clean. I ordered a ham sandwich with chips. My mom ordered a pick two with half BLT and a half cup of chicken and wild rice soup. The wait was slow for some cold sandwiches and premade soup. My sandwich was good but it just tasted like regular deli meat on white sandwich bread. The chips came from a basket with two different types of sun chips, which were not my favorite. My mom's soup did not have any chicken or meat in it, just the broth and lots of beans. It was also very spicy, which unfortunately didn't work with her dietary restriction. She wasn't able to eat much of it. We both got drinks, as well, but never refills. Our waitress didn't come back to check on us. Together the bill was in the mid $30s + tax and a tip. It just felt overpriced for mediocre food and service. Cute place, but I probably won't go back.

On a…read morewhim I just jumped on 555 and headed out west of Jonesboro to an ever growing area of Bono(Beau No not the singer). It seemed as though I had been hearing about a place on into town, so I wanted to explore the food scene in this little community a little more. As I was coming into town I noticed a little yellow unmarked food truck, not because there was a crowd really, but because there was a county cop and I didn't really want a ticket. A little further up the road I see this very sad site of a packed out Subway location like they were a delicacy or something. It was so sad to me in fact that I turned around in their parking lot to go back to that little yellow unmarked food truck just to give them some support since the locals seemed to want to feast on big chain Subway. HOLY SMOKES am I soooooo grateful I decided to turn back!!! This little joy bus was exactly what I've been looking for in this little corner of the state! As you can see in the pics, I went w/my usual first time visit order of the double bacon cheeseburger. Ordered it up and went to chill in the Bronco since the wind was so crazy today. After about 15 min I went back up to the window just to see if maybe I'd not heard my name called. This is where it got sideways. The customer before me had snagged my order. Completely not the fault of the sweet ladies hard at work, but the boss lady refused to let me pay and remade the order. It was ready in a flash and I opened it up to see one of the most beautiful DBCB I have ever seen! Again, it was so windy outside I couldn't enjoy it there, and I just knew I was gonna end up wearing this thing if I ate it in my ride. Short trip back to town to the house and to unwrap and dive in. The first bite sent chills down my spine! It was like I had struck gold!!!! My first thought was "I finally found it!!!" Then my next thought was about all those suckers who had to choke down a Subway sandwich when a stones throw away was the BEST BURGER in the Jonesboro area! Everything about this burger was exactly what I want it to be like. THICK hand made patties, fresh condiments, and the absolute best bacon ever put on a burger! The bacon alone made me want to drive back for a BLT, which might happen next week when I can get back over there. Before I walked away I tucked $20 in their tip jar, because I knew if it tasted as good as it looked I would lose sleep thinking I got that dream burger for free. They can mess up an order every time & I'll still wait in line to eat there again!!! Stop by and see those sweet ladies at Donya's Country Kitchen LLC (yellow food truck) in Bono & treat them like gold! They have officially taken over the #2 spot for burgers in Arkansas for me. That is some pretty high praise if you even know me a little.
