I don't think you can go wrong with any Firehouse locations, except for Echo Lane in Houston, but that's another review (and I have, so check it out before going). This location (Westheimer) is not my "home" location, but it was worth my trip. The dining area is large and spacious, the service is great, and the sandwiches are tasty. I gave 5 star because they wowed me. I ordered 2 sandwiches for my aunt and myself. Hers was basic, but mine, well let's just say I am very picky. My home store knows me by name when I walk in and they know my order by heart. I order different meats, but my toppings/alterations are usually the same. Whether it's the Italian, the Hook 'n Ladder or the Club On A Sub, I have specifications that could annoy some order takers. The service at this location was on top of it and took my order with a big smile. I even forgot my big alteration, meat and cheese cold, but they pleasantly changed it mid making for me. I've been wanting some Firehouse Subs for quite some time now. So I decided to try this location out 30 minutes ago, and it really didn't disappoint. First off, there were only 2 people working at this location in the early evening hours. I ended up getting 2 sandwiches ( 1 of them was a combo) and an extra bag of chips for my son. The 1st sandwich I got was the Smokehouse Cheddar and Beef Brisket. It was tender and delicious with flavor. The bread was soft like a good sandwich should. The BBQ sauce was sweet with a bit of tangy. This was a combo, so I got Salt and Vinegar Chips and a cherry Mellow Yellow at first, but the drink tasted flat. So I ended up getting a Shirley Temple (a cherry Sprite for anyone who doesn't know what it is)... much better. The 2nd sandwich I got was my favorite sandwich ever, the New York Steamer. Just like the other sandwich, the meat was tender and full of flavor, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the bread was soft. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The service, despite only 2 workers working this evening, was really exceptional. 1 of them was taking the orders, and 1 is making the sandwiches. The wait wasn't really too long, about 15 to 20 minutes depends on what you order. The ambiance is like a modern sandwich shop. The only downfall with all Firehouse Subs is that there aren't any sauces on the counter like it used to be when they first opened... bring that back, please!! First time eating at Firehouse subs and when we first walked in the place is big and well decorated with different paintings and items that firefighters would have. We got our son a kid's turkey combo toast which he ate all. For me I got a small smoke house brisket combo wheat bread, chips and a pickle spear, the sandwich was maybe 2or 3inches smaller than 6 inch bread from subway, brisket was soft and easy to chew a bit to greasy and bbq was just slapped in the meat but besides that I got full. My husband got the large fire house cap club combo, he said the quality of the chicken was excellent not thin like subway we will visit again but different location, they have different type of hot sauces. The Bible warned of Firehouse and Brimstone, and it came half true with this excellent sandwich shop. They have some of the better chain sandwiches in Houston, wayyyy better than Subway. Across the street from my gym, you will find this Firehouse Subs which we go to from time to time, with decent service, as well as a lot of other good businesses located in a string of five shops across from the main part of the strip mall, and the rent is good and there's plenty of parking in this Plaza, unlike the one across the street. Sadly there are businesses here that have closed up and shuttered and moved out, as well as some other stuff that clings to life and does just enough business to survive. It's important that you give them your business because so many have already packed up and gone. Lots of businesses have come and gone from this location, but it's still a good location with decent rent and one which we come to your regularly first location here in Westchase. read more

The desserts in a sandwich shop are mainly cookies and brownies and happen to usually be an impulse buy and the brownie I purchased was stale and had to be tossed. The chip assortment was pretty good. They have different flavors but I always make a beeline to the salt and vinegar chips. They are delicious on a deli sandwich! The tart and crunch goes great. I am never disappointed in the food quality or the amount of time it takes me to get my order. I recently ordered to me boss Adams and a tuna on wheat with the side of pickle and chips. I thought I'd go ask for my drink while I wait. There was a lady sitting in her phone at the register. I said hello & was not acknowledged. A different worker walked by, I asked if I could just grab my drink since the lady didn't even look up at me? He said "idk talk to her" I had to raise my voice, she finally looked up and asked me what I needed. I said I was picking up a Togo order and needed my drink. She asked to see my confirmation email, I got it up on my phone and handed it to her. She grabbed my phone and DROPPED it, no apologies or NOTHING. She gave me back my phone and handed my drink. I was too much in a rush to even bother with her. I sat down while my food was "being made" only to have a nice lady making the sandwiches ask for my name. I love Firehouse Subs so much but this store may have changed that. The lady who works the front (presumably the manager/owner) doesn't know how to interact with customers. I'm not the type of person to have crazy expectations but i can't believe some of the stuff I've seen at this place. Here's my experiences: The rushing of customers is so over the top and in your face. Before you even get a chance to put your card in your wallet after ordering, the lady at the register is demanding the person behind you start ordering. She told me to order TWICE (like i didn't hear her the first time) today as the customer in front of me was still fiddling with his money. Like expected me to rudely yell in his ear. Its freaking awkward and rude - stop doing that. I saw her rudely turn her back to a customer today who made a mistake while ordering (she didn't know i noticed this interaction). The lady refused to help her out, because "they don't do that". Do what?? Resolve issues with customers? I don't know many places where they flat out refuse to accommodate?? She could have done something, she just didn't want to A few weeks ago, she was taking orders/handing out food while using the back of her hand as a tissue. Either not realizing or not caring that she was handling literal food. Of course i was a little put off but i mostly forgot about it until my experience today made realize how little she cares about interacting with customers positively. There's no concern for how she comes across, just trying to get as many orders in as possible. Lastly my sandwich today had what i presume to be a pebble/rock/gravel in it. Like yea. A pebble. Whatever it was, it wasn't edible. I'm not so pressed about this, but it was a little gross and i got the impression the store itself is grimier than i realized before. Firehouse Subs in general is one of the best sandwich chains in Houston. Sadly, this location has terrible service and just fails to live up to its counterparts around town. The food-- when you can actually get it-- is generally on par with other Firehouse offerings, but they constantly seem to be out of a lot of types of chips, the fountain machine is out of various flavors of sodas, and the ice tea dispensers seem to be perpetually empty. My girlfriend and I swung by here for lunch last week. We were literally the only people in the store aside from one lady intently on her phone in the corner. The two employees ignored us for about five minutes (par for the course with this location), then informed us that they just received a large phone order and that we would have to wait about half an hour for service. We promptly went elsewhere. I notified Firehouse about how terrible the service was but haven't heard back. I'm not sure I'm ever going to give this location another chance. read more

The firehouse decor makes you feel like you are actually there at the firehouse. The service at this location was very fast and friendly. I chose to get the Engineer fully involved. Smoked turkey breast, melted Swiss, and sautéed mushrooms, loaded complete with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a dill pickle spear on the side. So delicious!! The most exciting part about this restaurant is the drink machine. One machine with a wide variety of sodas, teas, and waters that you can customize with your own choice of flavors such as peach, vanilla, and cherry. I spent almost 10 minutes customizing my drink! I hadn't eaten at a Firehouse Sub in forever! Since my San Antonio days. Suprprise, surprise there's one right by our place. I've been meaning to go but always forgot it was there. I got home from work one afternoon and my husband said he wanted to go. The place is fire fighter/house themed. The inside is cool with fire fighter jackets and boots on display. They even have fire fighter plastic hats for the kiddos. I ordered the Italian Sub with Genoa salami, pepperoni, ham, melted provolone, Italian dressing, and seasonings. It's a hot sub that's so yummy. The meats are all great, melty cheese and nicely toasted bread. Even with a car ride home it was good. My husband got the meatlball sub with talian meatballs, melted provolone, zesty marinara, and Italian seasonings. These subs were packed with goodness. Oh and holy crap let's not forget the soda fountain. It was the first time I had seen the soda machines with million combinations...I got coke zero cherry vanilla. Not to shabby.
