Let's face it...the Italians know how to eat. And eat well! Angelo's is located behind the James…read moreStreet precinct and it a treasure trove of Italian eats to help people cook authentic Italian cuisine at home. Everything from sauces, to pastas made fresh in their factory, to olive oil, to grissini, Angelo's has everything you could possibly need. When I popped in the staff were lovely and we had a good chat about the benefits of using first press olive oil. They were knowledgeable and clearly passionate about giving advice to novices like me. The pre-prepared cannelloni, tortellini and ravioli could potentially make me look like a half-decent cook next time I'm entertaining! What a revelation! For a bit of Italia in your life, Angelo's provides fresh, delicious produce available to everyone from their retail centre. I know where I'll be going next time I have people over for dinner!

When I've had a hell day at work or if I randomly have people over, Angelo's saves me. My favourite Angelo's product is their ravioli. Apart from their frozen pastas and ready meals, they also sell fresh pasta, dry pasta, and frozen pizzas. Their boutique pastas are an extra special treat and some of the flavours are unusual and amazing (I'm looking at you, beetroot fettuccine!). The parsley fettuccine is a revelation and my friends think I'm a culinary genius when I serve it up with nothing but some olive oil, lemon juice, and a little pecorino cheese on top. Angelo's has been making people look like amazing Italian cooks in their own home since 1968 apparently, and I'd be lying if I've never taken credit for one of their lasagnes myself.

The fitout comprises of exposed bricks, dark leather, lots of wood and mood lighting. It is essentially a trattoria with a focus on food sharing, good music and winning beverages. Plenty of these little funky venues around to compete with these days, so I hope they maintain their point of differences which are their service, food quality and consistency. This time, i believe they ticked all those boxes for us. Service was friendly, with a knowledgeable team. Food was delicious - get the homemade spanner crab lasagna! They serve wicked cocktails with a reasonable price tag. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Happy to sing high praises for this new kid on the Petrie Terrace block!

We discovered this gorgeous place last week and we went twice in three days it was so good!…read more Let's start with the decor, because it has a great vibe. A delightful crackling fireplace, booths of dark tufted leather, beautiful wooden tables, rustic exposed brick walls, high ceilings and very quirky and trendy paintings and wall decorations. Very cool, very well thought-out. Paired with great music, the atmosphere is sophisticated, old-word and welcoming. Now to the food. Fantastic. Great range. It is Italian, so meatballs, woodfired pizza, calamari, caprese salad, but also a fantastic steak. We loved the food. Also, they do $15 pizza on Mondays... To the wine! Delicious. They also do a great happy hour with $10 Negronis between 4-6pm. I think this is one of Brisbane hidden gems and it is our new favourite Brisbane restaurant!

Went here for a special anniversary dinner with my loved one and was certainly not disappointed. A wonderful little surprise dessert as a special gift from the owners was a lovely touch. Bella Cosi is a nice little restaurant located on one of Chermside's quieter side streets, although…read moreduring peak shopping times these streets tend to get overcrowded and a bit hectic. Paid parking now being instituted at Westfield Chermside has caused a lot of the traffic to spill out over into the streets, which unfortunately can limit your parking choices for Bella Cosi. The place itself however is really quite lovely, with the choice of both outdoor and indoor seating. It oozes Italian charm, with red, black, and white seats and furnishings and an Italian street scene occupying an entire wall that gives you itchy feet and makes you want to travel. There's even the odd vespa outside, which only adds more Italian charm to the place. The tea they serve is made from real leaves, no fake tea here, and their coffee is strong and smooth, just what I love and expect from a true Italian restaurant. Breakfast is a treat here, with fluffy berry pancakes served with ice cream and excellent scrambled eggs. They also crisp the bacon if you request it. Breakfast isn't a busy time at Bella Cosi, so it's a really nice place to sit back and enjoy the Italian aura without excess noise or worries. Getting in early has its benefits, including easier parking and less of a crowd.
