The burger patty itself was okay but the mushrooms tasted rubbery, as if they were canned or way over cooked. And there weren't any condiments on the burger, which made it dry as hell. I added ketchup but that still left it wanting. The sweet potato fries were soft, not crunchy. When I bake frozen sweet potato fries at home they come out better than this. It's a no frills hotel restaurant so don't expect a ton regarding ambiance, but clean and comfortable. Service was quick. read more

Inside the Hilton San Francisco Airport Hotel. THIS is the hotel's restaurant and they do a pretty good job, located just off of the lobby. We did dinner and a lunch here, as going anywhere else needs a car. It is a busy, bar-like setup. Seems tight, but there is plenty of room. Wait staff is just great, used to people in a hurry, and they are very helpful. And there is a full bar adjacent to the restaurant area and the bar does a great job. The menu is straight forward with a little of everything and an excellent selection of offerings. Starters are calamari, sliders, poke (!), crab cakes and wings. Prices from $10 - 19. Nice stuff, also. Plenty of salads and soups. Their clam chowder is excellent and can be a meal coupled with a salad or starter. Try it in a bead bowl and that IS your meal. And there is usually a soup of the day. Prices $10 - 22 and the soups are cups and bowls (bread also) at $4 - 10. Sandwiches are listed separate from bun-whiches. $14 - 20 with the Ahi sandwich being the most expensive. The burgers are all $18 and I think they were half-pounders, but do not know for sure. They are hearty and very yummy. Entrees are salmon, beef and chicken. There was one pasta dish at the time we were there. Good sides, Cous Cous and Cauliflower Puree. Not bad for a place that looks small and bar-ish. So convenient and is restaurant quality when you might expect bar food. A-OK, no complaints and you can put it on your room. We had to drop our daughter off at the Hilton for rehearsal before her college graduation at the hotel so we decided to get some lunch in the hotel restaurant . Initially the ambience was nice and peaceful so we could eat our lunch and not rush. We ordered the fried calamari and steamed asparagus and cheesesteak sandwich. Service was good but the prices for lunch are a bit high but that is to be expected in a hotel restaurant. As we were enjoying our meal, a group of youth sports team members were eating bagels and cheese on the other side of our booth and were pretty loud so Dude had a hard time enjoying his meal. Due to a flight cancellation, I was spending an unexpected night at the Hilton, and this restaurant off the lobby was perfect! I was dining solo and felt totally comfortable, and the service and food were fantastic. The salmon entree was one of the best I've ever had--the garlic mashed potatoes super yummy, steamed asparagus perfect, and and salad added nice acidic element. Great chef! The waitstaff were excellent too, and it was super busy. An older woman (with a slight limp) was amazing, handling a lot of tables so attentively. She and the busboy (man) should be given raises because they worked very hard keeping tabs on everyone. Thanks--I'll be back next time I have to spend a night near SFO! read more

When the ahi tuna sandwich tastes as plain as a rice cracker, that's a bad sign, especially when that sandwich is $20. It always confuses me when restaurants can't make decent basic things. Thankfully, my buddy and I split the sandwich and the ribs platter. But since he seemed to like the plain dry ahi more, I gave him my sandwich and ate his ribs. Good late night dinner meal, I had the Ahi tuna sandwich with fries and a manhattan up... Manhattan was a bit dry for my tastes, but still very good. Wife had the Porchini Mushroom Ravioli with a ample glass of house merlot, which she said-"I don't even miss the need for any fresh parmesan cheese." That's high praise, folks. Daughter had the mac n cheese with bacon in it, which she said was quite good too. She had a full portion, so the wife finished it off, saying it was quite good too. Total price, $87. Not bad for an airport hotel in SFO. Service was also very good, so bonus points there too. Hint: Prices and food are the same for room service, which is a total steal! Just off the front door, inside the Hilton Hotel, is a quiet little restaurant with a great menu. As you walk in, you are greeted by the bartender. Because it's in the hotel, it is not too busy. I stopped in here one evening for a couple of brews - Pale 31 Pale Ale (Firestone-Walker Brewing Co., Paso Robles, CA) and some food. Ordered a cup of the San Francisco clam chowder and an order of the crab cakes. The chowder came out first. I requested black pepper and hot sauce. What I got was a standard pepper shaker and Tabasco sauce - which is disappointing. I'm not sure what is so hard about keeping a pepper mill around for freshly cracked black pepper - and I'd love to start seeing restaurants offer some more interesting hot sauce options - other than Tabasco and Cholulu sauces. Boring. The clam chowder was delicious. Nice brininess to it and very creamy. The crab cakes were not bad, but they needed a larger side of Aioli - what I received was a rather pal Nice modern bar and restaurant. Lots of large, flat panel HD TVs. Terrible service and couldn't get a hold of anyone. I was transferred to the kitchen several times from front desk. Only to be told by the chef that he can't take orders and j have to keep trying to call the cashier (she was at the bar) finally front desk walked over after I complained about communication issues. Finally get to order a clam chowder. Cashier told me to come down anytime. Which I did 30 mins later, i was told she cancelled my order because I didn't pick it up sooner and worse I cant order because the kitchen is closed. Terrible!!! There's a 24hr cafe next door. The cheesesteak, and I hesitate to use the term, was simply revolting. It wasn't slices grilled meat like a cheesesteak, more like clumps across the grain of braised meat. It had about 3/4th of a slice of pathetic American cheese. (Where did the other 1/4th go?) It was on a hamburger bun. WTF? And it came with BBQ sauce -- don't think it said that on the menu. Horrific. Worst I've ever had. If I had to describe it, I'd say "pathetic BBQ beef sandwich." I checked in on yelp and received a deal ($5 off on brunch for adults). Live music was provided (a man singing and playing guitar). The singer/musician brighten my day when he sang and played one of my favorites by Eric Clapton - "You look wonderful tonight." The food preparation ranged from average to a notch above average. I enjoyed the smoked salmon, shrimp cocktail, salad & fruit bar, waffles, roasted veggies and rack of lamb. The oysters were average and some were not meaty. Parking structure provided. read more

IHOP? they are not even as half as good as the waffles here at the Windows On The Bay. outside of the waffles is delightfully crunchy while the inside is very soft. I always rate hotel bars/restaurants different from other places. As a frequent business traveler, I'm looking for different things when I have to eat/drink at a hotel. Is the service good? Do they have a decent selection of choices? Can they execute cooking them? Do they have TV's where I can watch sports? Are the bartenders knowledgeable enough about sports so they can find my game? In all of the aspects above, Fire/Vine delivers. Hotel restaurant/bar menus are usually limited, and I'm fine with that as long as there are selections of each category that can be prepared well. The clam chowder and daily soup options here are good, the appetizers feature crab cakes (very good) and chicken wings, there are sandwich and burger options (burgers are great), and some limited steak/seafood/poultry/pasta options as well. They also have a very good selection of beers on tap, some nice wine options, and of course all of the mixed drink choices anyone would want. Service is professional and friendly, the bartenders are great (especially Oscar). This place also scores points with me as they have multiple HD large screen TV's and sports is the focus, especially if you are a SF Giant, GS Warrior, and SF 49er fan. Bartenders know where to find the games. So if you are staying at the Hilton SF Airport Bayfront, staying right there to eat/drink/watch games in Fire/Vine is a good choice. read more

Was looking for a nice place to have a birthday dinner for my boyfriend - this was not it. I booked a reservation for 9 people on a Sunday night. The restaurant was practically empty, yet our service was ridiculously slow. 2 hours for a 1 course meal. Our food took so long to arrive, and it was COLD. Not lukewarm. Cold. We went without water and drink refills for quite a while, and our 2nd round didn't arrive until after everyone had finished their meal... Our waiter was rarely seen, and I had to hunt down the manager to ask for the check as well as have someone pick it up. Overall very disappointing and will not be coming back. read more

One word: disappointed. My family has been coming here for years since we were little. We always loved the Belgian waffle. The light, airy melt in your mouth waffle. That was not what we received today. Breakfast ends at 11am and I called in at 930am to preorder the famous waffles because we weren't going to make it before breakfast ends. When my sister and I arrived, they started cooking the waffles and have us two glasses of orange juice. We were looking forward to this and waited quite a long time. Our server sets the plates down and I'm thinking to myself "these are NOT the waffles." I added the butter and poured the syrup on. Im not generally into hotel restaurants but sometimes you find some secrets hidden in plain sight. In the crazy hotel row that is outer Burlingame. Windows is surrounded by water. The views from the window seats are actually quite nice on the right day, and for the most part the place is never seemingly crowded. The food selection is kind of deranged as it's all over the world map. Decent NY steak though since it's in a hotel the prices are kinda high. The service is very nice and attentive. Perhaps a better place to just go get a drink and look out into the water. 3.5 stars read more

This place is okay in terms of food. Nothing is spectacular about their prime rib and shrimp scampi. The bread isn't served warm and toasty for the butter to melt in your mouth. If you're lucky to sit by the large screen windows, you'll get a great view of airplanes flying by. However, I think there are more scenic restaurants elsewhere. read more

The service was almost perfect... They filled the water repeatedly. They asked if we wanted more bread right away.... The salad and soup came up pretty quick... Both were good. We had their Easter buffet here today. For what it was, it was actually very good. I liked that is was small and not flooded with people. We usually go to the Garden Court in The Palace Hotel in San Francisco or similar large fancy buffets but my son was flying out at 1:30 so we wanted to be near the airport. And though the bigger venues have more food, there are way too many people on holidays stuffed in. Here they had all the basics. Omelets made to order, Belgium waffles, pancakes, sausage, smoked salmon, eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce etc. The carving station had great prime rib. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, so good! I was surprised at how fresh the oysters were too. Usually at such buffets they have been opened too long just sitting there. These were so good. Lots of other food too, more than you could ever eat. Plus great salads including a fruit salad. YUM! My only negative was the lamb chops. They were delicious but too fatty. The service was amazingly good too. Constant but unobtrusive. I had so many orange juice refills. I asked for a different kind of tea, and within a minute it was there. My son wanted ketchup for his omelet and a new bottle was immediately brought. Used plates quickly taken away. All with big smiles from the plentiful staff. We would definitely come back here. I actually preferred it to the bigger, fancier places.
