It's a 1 star only because the two ladies serving know nothing about customer service. I'm left feeling because I'm black and American, they've made up their mind that there's no point to being kind to us as we never tip. I do however see Ethiopian patrons greeted properly. When I asked one of the young ladies working for a menu, She gave them to me but didn't let me know she wasn't the server. When I asked to order after sitting with the menu for 10 minutes, she said yes but didn't take my order...didn't bother to tell me she wasn't the bartender. So I waited... Shortly after sitting down, the radio started blaring a song full of words that would get me banned from yelp were I to include. Okay, okay, that was one off, and surely the next one... no, no, the refrain to that includes the refrain -- nope, not typing that one either, but I'll never be able to drink a juice box again. Okay, I had ordered at this point, and though I kinda wanted to just leave... the food was coming. I had ordered a smokehouse burger. It was actually pretty good, and came with a side of fries. Both burger and fries make heavy use of old bay, which is nice. For two sandwiches and a drink, though, the bill came to over fifty bucks. While the burger was good, it was nowhere near worth that. Service be hit or miss but today takes the cake. My home girl and I came in. A bartender came up to us and we told her we wanted to sit at the bar. I asked for 2 waters to start. It's 90 degrees outside today lol. So, we received the menu and we both decided we were going to order 2 side Cesar salads. The bartender put it in. Then another bartender later came to us and said it will be 18.00. I said huh? I was confused, then she walked out. We never received our food, why are we paying? I can understand if we placed a takeout order.But we didn't. So, 20 minutes later no food. It was about 6/7 other people in the restaurant. Then our bartender came back and said we have to pay. Why are we paying for our food now that we didn't receive? I mentioned, that I have dined here before and I never had to do that especially when dining in? So what changed? Is it a walkout thing? She is constantly accommodating and makes sure patrons are served with a smile. Enjoyed a NFL gameday Sunday afternoon here. It wasn't crowded at all which I thought was odd for a large sports bar. I was accompanied by a group of friends and they all described delicious dishes. I ordered the Miami Mojito, chicken wings and crab quesadilla. Even though the chicken wings were sauced they had a nice slight crisp on the exterior and were tender on the inside. The quesadilla was incredibly soft and flavorful. The crab meat really made the difference. All were really good! So good I ordered the quesadilla and their hottest chicken wings to-go. I hadn't been here in a long time and was excited to go back. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. I think ownership changed and the place had a very different feel. Service was very slow. When food came out, only some people got their orders and others had to wait even longer. The pizza was very bland with very little sauce. Salads were ok and came in very generous portions. Some others in our party had been given wrong orders which had to be corrected. I've been to fire station 1 times before for gogo (DC original music) and I've never ordered anything on the menu. I'm so glad I decided to take a chance with the food and get something to eat. My boo & I decided to brave the snow and go to see one of the local DC bands play. I was starving by the time we got there so I decided to get some wings. I love bar wings. The bartenders were super nice and very helpful when I decided to make my order. I got the Cajun wings and a margarita. My drink was made quickly and it was super tasty. My wings came out about 15 minutes later. They were hot and I could tell they were well seasoned. As I took my first bite I knew I was in heaven. They were juicy & crispy at the same time. Today began as just another "blah" day, so I decided to change that! Stopping in at Fire Station 1, and yeah, it was early (10:30 in the morning) but they were open and oh so ready to make my first ever visit my best experience of the day! Devon met met me at the door and helped me get settled in, then Crystal stepped in to provide a cheery delightful service that warmed my heart and made me think "I could spend the day here!" I was so fortunate to meet the manager Amy and oh what a wonderful engaging person! Just like Crystal, she was totally committed to ensuring my experience was a wonderful one. Now, let me talk about the food... Starting out with the 5 Alarm Chili (I asked Crystal for onions to kind of add a flavor on top of what I hoped was to be great flavor already there). I was NOT disappointed! Now, Fear not.. 5 Alarm is still very manageable for the heat-squeamish...it was 5 Alarm and a "fireworks display" of flavor! Next on the agenda was the Mushroom and Swiss Burger (oh yeah, I asked for raw onion on this, too) and it was a party in my mouth! A side of fire house fries just topped off a great brunch! Sipping on my fresh brew coffee, I enjoyed the down time post brunch to make sure that everyone who reads this is ASSURED!! Until today, I haven't been here in about four or five years and last time I went before that I noticed it went downhill from the time before. I had to use the men's bathroom and stall door wouldn't shut and toilet flush lever was not working. I was worried about the safety of the food here with the bathroom being unsafe but may have ordered a drink. The waitress was serving other tables menus but not ours. Not sure if it was because she could overhear me complaining and talk to my wife about leaving or we choose to wear masks except eating and drinking due to us being high risk or if it was that we aren't their regular customers. After about several minutes of not being served and other tables being served, my wife and I chose to walk out and try La Bamba down the street. Very disappointed this place has gone downhill to the point of having to leave before ordering and having to give this place a 1 star review. read more

So I can finally cross the Fire Station off my list. I always hear about people coming here but I hadn't been myself. Ten years ago I would have been more eager to eat at a place like this but after my first time having Chicken Satay, tofu and the like, wings and whatnot really haven't been appealing to me. This time, I was with friends and this is what they voted for so along I went. Let me say that I saw and should have order the Honey Fried Chicken and Waffles. They were on the brunch menu and they sounded good but I didn't want to swagger jack my friend so I order Mumbo Wings and Seasoned Wedges. When the food came out, the Chicken and Waffles looked as good as they sounded. The presentation was impeccable I must say. My food looked good but let me tell you. The wings didn't taste like what I was expecting. I recently did a review for MLK Deli and they do the same wings way better. The Wedges were cut like fries. The wedges looked like fries but tasted like salt. Not like seasoning(s) more like I imagine those salt licks for pet rabbits taste. At carryouts I always ask for my fries without salt and I should have done that here. On top of that, they came out cold. And the restaurant, wasn't even packed. I should be glad they didn't microwave them I guess. Other than that I will say that the place was clean and the décor was cool. I think that the service was good. The food just didn't leave me wanting to return but I do believe I will return for the Chicken and Waffles. Hopefully they'll still be on the menu because it'll be awhile. After several restaurants in passing were closed for Memorial Day, we stopped at this place on a Monday night for dinner. It was our lucky day, because on Mondays, burgers are half-price! (On Tuesdays, pizzas are half-price.) Their burgers are massive - half-pounders! They had multiple sports channels on and 90's music was playing in the background. Obviously Fire Station 1 gets cool points for being an old fire department building, but I was expecting a little more for both food and service. I ordered the Rise & Shine Burger (your choice of cheese, bacon, and a sunny-side up egg). Per the menu, all burgers are served on a brioche roll, garnished with lettuce, tomato, crispy onion straws, and wedge fries. I'm not picky about the cheese on my cheeseburger, so I didn't specify and the kitchen just plopped on whatever cheese they felt like serving me. The burger was good - but it's nice to be asked, and it demonstrates the server's knowledge of the menu. But maybe I'm just being high maintenance. While placing my order, the waitress did ask me if I was good with fries as my side and what temperature I wanted the burger cooked. I asked for medium and it came out medium. While we did order seven burgers, it felt like an above-average wait time, and the place was by no means busy. I get that this isn't the type of restaurant with bread service, but chips or peanuts to snack on would make the long wait less noticeable. We debated ordering chicken wings as an appetizer, but I'm guessing that would also take a while to be served since it requires actual cooking time. When the food was brought out, everyone received their burgers topped with the lettuce-tomato-onion straws - except for me. I asked the waitress where my toppings were, since the menu said all burgers came with them. The waitress advised that all the burgers were served with them - *except* for the Rise & Shine Burger because most people don't like the lettuce and egg combo. She offered to take my burger back and get it with the toppings. I asked for the toppings on the side, and she came back with the lettuce and tomato (no crispy onion straws :(). I get where they're coming from, but my recommendation is to either ask if customers want the toppings upfront, while ordering, or just serve it on the side instead of serving assumptions. Again, it's nice to be asked, but this place seems to operate more under the "ask and you shall receive" style of service. Regarding the food, the flavor of the meat itself is good; it's actually one of the more flavorful burgers I've had. That being said, the burgers could benefit from some condiments. While the dish is served with a side of ketchup for the fries, the burgers have no mayo, ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, etc., and no condiments were provided on the table. I'm sure condiments would have been provided if we asked the server for some, but other than refilling our drinks, service was lacking and you really had to flag them down if you wanted something extra. I do wish there were more options in terms of choosing the size of the burger, ie. 1/4 lb. and/or 1/3 lb. offerings, because 1/2 lb. was way too much meat for me (and I already had a lot of protein from the bacon and egg!). I did like my burger and overall it was an A-OK experience, but I can't find any particular reason to come back. Fire Station 1's lack of attention to detail is what gets them. read more

Our server was attentive and our water glasses were refilled without asking repeatedly. Southwestern egg rolls- they were actually good but for the price... It was 2 small egg rolls cut in half. I found it odd that they're food portions are generous yet they skimp on apps that people share. Reuben- delicious, good quality bread and generous portions. The chips were perfectly crisp. So I went to take a poll, since the manager disagreed on the importance of the commercials, and he agreed to the idea. After taking the poll I realized a large portion didn't care (even though some did), since the proportion wasn't in my favor I went to dropt it. Literally, as I had almost finished sitting in my seat, the manager goes (paraphrasing, but close) "Yeah, why don't you just go ahead and and sit down." This is on my top list of disrespect in a public establishment, it's honestly surprising that a manager of a restaurant would be so immiture to antagonize a patron after they made a request and then dropped it. You would think after a customer dropped it, the manager could hold their immature, condescending remarks. Great location, huge building, walking distance to all of Downtown Silver Spring...but it misses the mark every time I have ever been there. 1) I have NEVER seen a friendly bartender there. Ever! And from my experience, bartenders are cool and friendly. These bartenders are inattentive, cold, uninterested and not willing to really even TRY the whole customer service thing. I can only assume they all hate their jobs? 2) The food is weak. You can almost taste how cheap all of the ingredients are. Scraping the bottom of the barrel to save a buck I guess. I am sure the cook can probably prepare a decent meal...but if all you have to work with is garbage, all that comes out is garbage. The prices are OUTRAGEOUS for the quality of food. My comment is simple. They closed during the college football championship and forced a Paying customer (me) to leave during the game, because of low turnout. The time they closed was even earlier than their posted hours on the door. This was my second time there, I wasn't happy with the food the first time, but thought it would be a great place to watch the game. The food was still bad, I didn't eat most of my food. The bartender was nice and talked to all customers with kindness. She messed up my order and it almost appeared on purpose because she asked me 3 times and still put in a full rack order when I ordered a half rack of ribs. Pretty cool place to watch Football! Came in to watch the Eagles Vikings game. Plenty of tv's and surround sound. Our waiter was attentive and nice. We started with southwest eggrolls, they were fresh and crispy. Would order again. I followed that up with super spicy 5 alarm wings. So delicious! Through the burn, the sauce flavor was spot on. Just moved to the Silver Spring area and decided to give Fire Station a try despite the low rating. I now see that the low rating, based on food alone, is much-deserved. The only reason I gave three stars is because the service wasn't bad and lucked up and came on a night where there was a live DJ playing some great music. I ordered the fish and chips off of the lunch menu even though it was dinner time and my friend ordered the meatloaf with a baked potato and spinach. EVERYTHING was bland. Not an understatement.. the meatloaf looked like pre-packaged hospital food and was so disgusting. The fish was fried differently than I'm used to and has zero taste. Much better second review of this spot. Had a college friend & wanted her to enjoy some good burgers. They've made some changes here. Not as crowded simply due to some seating changes. Customer service could be improved, however, waitress was extremely polite. I'm thinking that the live band may have performed later in the evening. The drinks were perfect. read more

I went last night for a party , party was excellent had a great time I ordered two Top shelf tequila margaritas at $17 a pop I tipped my bartender the change plus a extra five for every drink I was served So let's get into it I ordered two Patron margaritas for $17 I gave her $20 she gave me back $3 I tipped her another $5.
