I've traveled to Thailand and fallen in love with the food and culture there, and eating here instantly warped me right back. We stopped in for lunch and ordered the Thai Basil (Pad Ka-Pow) with ground chicken, Garlic Delight with beef, and the Yellow Curry with chicken. Every dish delivered genuine, authentic flavor cooked to perfection. Beyond the food, the service was wonderful--our waitress's warm, welcoming smile immediately reminded me of the kindness and hospitality I experienced across Thailand. I was given the yogurt drink instead of the normal side of yogurt cucumber sauce for the meat, and was warned by Ali that some people don't like it since it's a yogurt drink with salt, but honestly it was great and was essentially a yogurt mint sauce I expect from other Mediterranean/Middle Eastern type places but more watery. So admittedly I just took sips of this while taking bites of the kebab and rice and it was pretty much the flavors I was looking for, but an extra step. Beef Mantu was another source of confusion since there are regular and homemade versions (I didn't realize). They made me the homemade version without confirming with me on the phone; no problem. It was filled with lightly seasoned beef and topped with interesting spices. Overall not bad not great, definitely needs sauce / salt. Too light in my opinion. And for $25 I wouldn't get again not worth it. The customer service from Ali was great. This was one of the biggest disappointments. It tasted like regular coffee with some crushed pistachios thrown in, yet they're charging $8 for a 16 oz cup. I've had plenty of specialty coffee at Starbucks that costs less, tastes better, and is consistently made. To make matters worse, the woman at the register told me they were missing the base for the coffee I ordered. If you're charging $8 for a drink, I expect it to be made correctly, taste good, and be consistent. The biggest issue with Mankish is value. For around $30, I can feed two people at In-N-Out.
