After studying at Fire Shaper since January, I've got some additional insights: - The studio is still spotless but occasionally it smells if you head in immediately following another class. Some students also make bad decisions and refrain from using deodorant which does not help the matter. Either way, it's as clean and smell-less as you can hope for, I guess. - Most instructors are great. My favorite is Catherine, but she's only there every other Sunday afternoon. I've also had good classes with Diane, Dani G., and Katelyn. - The schedule kind of sucks. There's not a chance that I can make it to a Blaze (aka bikram) class during the week as they're only after 9 and before 5. I have been relegated to just weekends (preferably Sunday at 4pm, when the room is not overcrowded) and have begun to seek out a new studio with convenient week day hours. I still like Fire Shaper but unfortunately, it probably won't be my main studio now that I'm trying to deepen my practice beyond weekly classes (and also don't want to go broke...) read more

It's a fairly quiet/ clean studio and it depends if they have a groupon deal then you have a wave of students coming and going. Best to get there about 30 min before class to find parking/ relax before entering the hot room. At first you will not think it's THAT hot; Until you hit the 15 minute mark and start sweating and regreting your life decisions. Around the 30 minute mark you work with the fact that there is sweat covering every part of your body. At the end, release.you're dead but thank god for the resting part. It was worth it. Don't eat before coming here and drink water before. Only thing i have against the studio is the changing schedule (i love danny, the curly redhead instructor) it seems as if the yoga here is now more of fitness yoga that caters to those trying new things rather than people who want yoga, the art and form. read more

I've been going to fireshaper off and on for about a year now and love it! Only reason why it's "off and on" is due to the cost... 130.00/month if you do an auto renewal or 170.00\month to month. Originally I would just attend the Blaze class (Bikram) but just recently I started attending the ignite classes as well which is a great workout and a plus for anyone who tires of the standard repetition of Bikram yoga. Pros: There are several types of hot yoga classes at this studio not just the typical bikram style yoga. Katelyn's Blaze Class: Katelyn is great instructor and I try to make it to her Wednesday and Sunday classes as often as possible. She is great at encouraging the class to hold each posture even when you feel you can't stand another second. She is also very knowledgeable of the postures and the benefit each has to your mind, body and soul. Caryn's Ignite Class: I generally try to get to Caryn's Tuesday night class every week. This is a great way to start the beginning of the week! Caryn's positive energy and encouragement for all students truly fills the room each class. She is also very knowledgeable of the postures and the benefits of each. She really takes her time with all students and gives positive reinforcement. It's impossible to leave this class without a smile. Fireshaper really keeps their facility immaculate (including bathrooms/changing areas and most importantly the studio itself). The also carry anything that you may need for your class including water/mats/towels/ even a small collection of clothes (bum bum shorts/tanks and headbands) When they say "hot" yoga they really mean it I also enjoy the fact that everyone (students/instructors) are generally friendly and you have the sense that everyone comes to this studio for difference reasons but in general all just want a great experience. I took a class with Naomi and it was great! However, Angela, (who I believe to be the manager) is disgusting!!! She was so rude to me and had such an attitude about it being my first time there. They need nicer staff to make practicing yoga there a more enjoyable experience. read more

DO NOT GO HERE ---- AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL - ANGELA, THE MANAGER, IS THE WORST!!! She has zero customer service skills and is extremely rude. Let me start from the beginning. I've been practicing Yoga at Fireshaper for a few years. I HAVE SPENT HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS in this studio purchasing package after package. I purchased a 5 week unlimited package Labor Day weekend and went to class on Sept. 10. The receptionist told me she was unable to locate my package. I offered to show her my purchase on my App or my bank statement but she said not to worry and that they would straighten it out. She said someone would call me to clear up the issue. I took the class and NOTHING was said to me after. I left and waited for my call... which never came. I assumed my package had not been activated being that the young woman behind the desk told me she could not find it and someone would call to sort things out. Shortly after, I fell victim to medical issues that prevented me from returning to class for a few months. Yoga was the last thing on my mind during this time. It is now January and my doctor has cleared me to begin classes again. When I returned, I explained the situation to Danni D, who was lovely, and the receptionist the following evening, who was also very sweet and helpful. They said to speak to Angela regarding the issue because she is the only person with the authority to re-activate my account. Now Angela knows me quite well because we have spoken many, many times before. FIRESHAPER CHARGED ME TWICE FOR ANOTHER CLIENTS PACKAGE with the same name as me. I understand... mistakes happen. I was lovely, I was understanding and I extended her the courtesy that I hoped someone would extend me if the roles were reversed. I did not yell or scream or cry that an additional hundred and something dollars went missing from my checking account.... I simply asked for a refund and Angela did refund the money. Given the history, and the TWO times that this happened to me, I thought I deserved the same courtesy in return. When I called tonight to explain the current situation to her I honestly thought there would be no issue. There was an obvious miscommunication and misunderstanding between the receptionist, myself and Angela. I explained that I would NEVER PAY 125 FOR A PACKAGE AND PRACTICE JUST ONCE.... who would do that? Angela became very rude, impatient and condescending as she asked me if she is supposed to call every client when they activate an account. She wanted to know what I expected... a phone call just because I came to Yoga? WELL, OF COURSE NOT!!! ANGELA ASSURED ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE CALLED ME IF MY PACKAGE WASN"T FOUND AND I OWED THEM MONEY ... AND SINCE I DIDN'T HEAR FROM THEM (BECAUSE THEY WERE PAID) I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN.... I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THE MONEY......BUT I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THIS IS THE WAY SHE OPERATES AFTER MY WATER BOTTLE EXPERIENCE (SEE BELOW)....Anyhow, I was told my package didn't exist!!! So yes, it was confusing.... I guess it was too much to ask for a follow up call. In any event, tonight I asked for the COURTESY of REACTIVATING MY PACKAGE being that it was the fault of their employee that I thought it wasn't activated. I said I would pay the $22 for the class from September and then use the package now... I thought that FIRESHAPER and ANGELA MIGHT BE LOYAL TO A RETURN CUSTOMER WHO HAS SPENT OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS ---- BOY, WAS I WRONG.... after a long, heated debate, ANGELA said she would honor my package when I send the doctor's note. I WILL SEND HER THE NOTW and NEVER AGAIN RETURN TO FIRESHAPER..... as an active member in the community I WILL SHARE MY EXPERIENCES AND I AM DISGUSTED BY HOW I WAS TREATED. I BEGGED FOR A REFUND AND SHE SAID THEY DON'T DO THAT.... OF COURSE, WHY WOULD THEY? THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT AN UNHAPPY CUSTOMER ONLY THE MONEY!!!!!! Oh, one more thing.... ANGELA ONCE MADE ME GO TO MY CAR JUST MINUTES BEFORE THE CLASS STARTED TO GET ONE DOLLAR FOR ONE WATER THAT WAS ON MY ACCOUNT - MONEY HUNGRY AND DESPERATE!!!!!! Just wanted to tell anyone who might be sitting on the fence, about trying out Fire Shaper hot yoga, my suggestion as a 59 yr old male, is that playing sports and lifting weights my whole life, and use to be a avid runner, Hot Yoga now has replace them all. I will tell you , when I get done with a class with their very patience, pleasant instructors, I am saturated, like I just ran 10 mile, without all the wear and tear on my joints and back. I also love the endorphin high I get once the class is over. It is amazing. I would recommend Hot Yoga to anyone, whatever your age or sex, it is amazing. Had my son take some classes when he was home from spring break and he plays College Football and it did wonders for his flexibility. Just be careful it can be very addicting, which is a great thing, because when I am done I feel great, mentally, emotionally and spiritually . The staff couldn't be friendlier or more accommodating . (Angela, Andrea ) and the instructors I have had have all been awesome, they all slowly changing my life for a better way to live and I am in debt to the instructors ( Maria S, Nicole S, Diane Z. , Erika, ) . They also have great plans if you want to go to one of the other locations, because they seem to work so well and my favorite instructor does both Westwood and Nyack , so I get the best of both worlds. I just finished a class with Scott . I've been practicing this style of yoga for 8 years at various different studios. I'm a visitor at this studio and highly recommend it. The heating system is one if the best. It's immaculate and has great natural light. Scott is a gifted and fantastic teacher. Not only does he have an excellent knowledge of the postures , but he teaches with joy and enthusiasm which sometimes gets lost in this rigorous style of yoga. His attitude is contagious and encourages you to do your best without being critical of yourself. Plus he adds some humor which is appreciated while your working your tail off! He truly teaches in the spirit of the style! Rock on Scott, stay true to yourself because you are a gem. The benefits of the style are remarkable and continue to amaze me. Namaste read more
