Fire & Ice has the ambiance of a restaurant I'd expect in an 80's arcade with bright primary colors, long booths, and a bit of a garish decor. That said, it is absolutely perfect for families looking to spend a reasonable price while being a tourist on the waterfront. I was with a friend and we just wanted drinks. I ordered an espresso martini while my friend bounced between a few drinks. Was it a strong drink? No, but it drank like adult chocolate milk and I was in love. Seriously, I thought I could not beat the price point and the delicious cocktail. And honestly I am glad it didn't pack a punch because I could drink a couple of these reasonably priced cocktails (by what I am accustomed to) and still walk around feeling relaxed and amiable. Our server initially seemed uncertain and perhaps a little exhausted. Once we explained we were here to get off our feet and drink he immediately relaxed and seemed much more open to us. A bright smile would flash across his face as he came by asking us how we were versus the downcast head he had initially. Considering the table behind us looked like a toddler decided to recreate a Jackson Pollock painting with ketchup and mustard I can only guess what happened earlier. He was lovely. I enjoyed it and while I wouldn't search it out I would t protest going back! read more

Save your money and walk a few blocks to Supreme Crab instead. For around the same price, they offer AYCE Cajun seafood with crab legs, crawfish, garlic noodles, and a lot more variety. That's actually where we originally wanted to go, but unfortunately, they were closed that night. Came here for dinner on a Monday night with 2 adults and 2 kids. Most of the tables were empty, although the bar area was a little busier. I honestly don't understand how this place has such a high rating. I had been wanting to try it after seeing it all over Instagram, but unfortunately, I won't be back. Pros: Beautiful view, decent service, they cook the food right in front of you, and the concept itself is fun. Cons: The price and lack of variety. AYCE is $35 per adult and $19 per kid, which I think is outrageous for what you actually get. The options were basically a bunch of noodles, hot dogs, burger meat, shrimp, clams, and a sauce bar. For seafood, shrimp and clams were pretty much it. I really wish they offered more options because that would at least help justify the price. The noodles were also really bland. It would've been nice to have things like cheese, salad, or more toppings and proteins to make different combinations. Look at the pictures... our bill was around $130 for the four of us, and we basically ended up with four plates of noodles, hot dogs, and clams. Paying that much for what felt like mostly noodles just wasn't worth it to me. The concept has potential, but for $35 AYCE, there needs to be a lot more variety. read more

Listen. I don't know what Danielle is getting paid, but it's not enough. Danielle doesn't make drinks -- she creates liquid masterpieces. You order a cocktail and five minutes later she slides something across the bar that looks like it belongs in the damn Louvre. I almost felt disrespectful drinking it. Almost. The drinks are PERFECT, the presentation is ridiculous, and somehow she manages to be hilarious, friendly, attentive, and actually make you feel like she's happy you're there -- which is apparently a superpower in 2026. At one point I genuinely started wondering if Danielle was a bartender or some kind of alcohol wizard. ‍ Like ma'am, I asked for a drink, not a spiritual experience. Service? 10/10. Drinks? 10/10. Presentation? Picasso with a liquor license. Danielle? Protect her at all costs. Would I recommend this place? 1,000,000 × YES. Seriously, if you come here, ASK FOR DANIELLE. Fire + Ice - The best margarita I've ever had!!!!!!!!! - Comfort Food Near Me - San Francisco, California

My guy and I stopped here for dinner while visiting pier 39. We were looking for a good AYCE spot and were so happy to spot a Mongolian BBQ. The restaurant was very clean, with a gorgeous view, and we had high expectations. Upon walking in, a few staff members told us our dog was not welcome. He is a trained, ADA compliant, service dog and we explained this when the first few of people stopped us. When we were finally seated, yet another staff member came over and began questioning us, but this time insinuated that they were looking out for the safety of children and staff (which isn't an issue), and wanted to make sure he wasn't dangerous. But our trained, desensitized to humans, animals, busy establishment, and at-work dog had not made a sound, lunged, or done anything but sit quietly while doing his job. At this point, we felt pretty uncomfortable, and hadn't even been greeted by our waiter yet, so we made the decision to leave. This is really upsetting because the view was gorgeous, the inside was beautiful, and I was hoping to leave an honest food review. Instead I'm left feeling like this establishment needs to brush up on their knowledge of service animals as well as the appropriate way to handle customers with alternative needs. read more

We had such a great experience at Fire & Ice during our getaway to San Francisco from Vegas! Danielle was AMAZING! She was professional, attentive, friendly, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we sat down. She had great conversation with us, made some really good drinks , kept checking on us, and did an incredible job keeping the energy and vibes flowing throughout our visit. Danielle is definitely a bartender who knows how to create a great atmosphere not just serve drinks. We truly enjoyed ourselves and will absolutely be back the next time we're in San Francisco! I'd love to tell you how the food is at Fire and Ice. Unfortunately, I never got that far. First, I'll give credit where it's due: the restaurant itself is beautiful, the atmosphere is great, and the location on Pier 39 gives it an excellent view and a lot of potential for a really enjoyable dining experience. Honestly, I was looking forward to it. I showed up with my PTSD service dog, a purebred American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT). He's extremely well-trained, polite, and completely desensitized to children, people, and other animals. He was quietly doing his job and causing absolutely no problem. Apparently, his breed was the problem. Before we could even get settled, I had four different employees, one after another, question and confront me about my service dog. By the fourth employee, I honestly felt like we were getting more attention than the food probably does. The concerns went from basic questions to comments about staff and children potentially being in danger. I was polite with the door staff and bartender and tried to explain the ADA rules regarding service animals. Unfortunately, it became pretty obvious that the staff weren't exactly up to speed on the subject--and didn't seem particularly interested in becoming up to speed either. Cause the person I spoke with just responded by saying " I don't know!" ‍ To be clear, I have no issue with a restaurant caring about the safety of its customers and employees. That's reasonable. What isn't reasonable is repeatedly treating a well-behaved service dog differently because of what breed he happens to be. My dog wasn't barking, lunging, bothering customers, or causing a disturbance. He was literally just sitting there being a service dog. After being approached by the fourth employee, we decided we'd had enough. We left without ordering a single thing. So, unfortunately, I can't review the food. I can, however, review the hospitality: four employees managed to make sure I never got the opportunity to become a customer. Which is a shame, because the restaurant really does have a beautiful atmosphere and a great location. I came in expecting to enjoy the view, have a good meal, and hopefully leave with a great review. Instead, I left without ever getting to see the menu. Maybe next time, spend a little less time judging the dog by his breed and a little more time judging him by his behavior. The food may be fantastic. I'll never know. Fire and Ice staff made sure of that. read more

Wasn't this place previously Neptunes Table and then Chart House ? Is it owned by the same people ? The view is great. San Francisco Bay. The food ? Just as crappy as Neptune and Chart House. Rude management and employees as well. Wait a while, they'll piss off enough customers and close down. It's a shame they never learn. The Bay area forced extra fees are a joke. And then they want tips for bad service and lousy food? Get off your cell phones and stop taking selfies and posting on social media. The ultimate blame rests on Management. There's no such thing as a junk crew, it's junk management. read more

We popped in for a drink and a redbull as we were walking the pier. Danielle was our bartender. As we sat at the bar, she ended up helping the couple sitting next to us to find a hotel. The couple was struggling with booking a nearby hotel, so we heard Danielle take the initiative to call for pricing and availability to help them. She checked on everyone before doing so (without stating why, we just knew cause were next to the couple) and ensuring every server and order that came through was taken care of without delay. Absolutely amazing care as a human being and hilarious conversation. That said, the menus that the front desk gave us were sticky. Danielle was so amazing, I would come despite the sticky menus being a personal ick. read more

Fire + Ice - Danielle shaking the view - Comfort Food Near Me - San Francisco, California

This restaurant sits at the very end of Pier 39, which means you'll need to make your way through a stretch of tourist chaos to get there--but the reward is worth it. The views are incredible, with clear views of the bay and "The Rock" Alcatraz. The concept of Fire + Ice is fun and interactive, though during peak hours, expect long lines both to fill your somewhat small bowls and to get them cooked. The selection of proteins was a bit odd--ranging from scallops and steak to hot dogs and hamburgers--which may not suit all tastes. The flavor sauce section is also overwhelming, with dozens of options and little guidance, making it difficult to know what pairs well. The bar staff was very friendly and welcoming, which helped balance the experience. However, the cooks at the grill seemed rushed and not particularly approachable. Cleanliness could also use a little attention. Despite the quirks, the location and views give this place strong potential. With a few adjustments, it could become a much more enjoyable spot for both tourists and locals alike. read more

Okay, so I had settled on a 4 star review of the restaurant, but bumped this up to a 5 star after my interaction with the wonderful staff. Going in, we were familiar with and fans of the Fire & Ice dining concept having previously visited the Anaheim & S. Lake Tahoe locations. Mongolian-grill type restaurants are 1 of my absolute favorites! Here in S.F., there were some minor unforseen hiccups, but this was more than compensated for overall. It's a bit of a task and maze getting here dodging throngs of tourists and making it to the restaurant entrance from the opposite end of Pier 39 alongside the Embarcadero. However, once here, diners are rewarded with "ooh-ahh" priceless views of San Francisco Bay during the meal. A jaw-dropping backdrop, in short. Another smaller issue fairly mentioned is the cut-off time policy between lunch & dinner pricing transparency. And a wonky, work-in-progress Rewards sign-up that we weren't able to launch during the visit. On-duty restaurant manager Ken, an East-coast native was a gem of a fellow who introduced himself and a great interaction followed. Equal praise for server Luka, a native of Serbia...and a sweetheart of a hostess whose name I didn't get. They, along with the great, fresh food really aced this 1st time visit. Speaking of the food, they've got offerings you won't find at most any other Mongolian grill. Such as sirloin steak, fresh seafood like prawns/shrimp and overall much higher quality choices than at similar places. And it's AYCE (all you can eat)! Just use a fresh bowl everytime cave people (jk). An inviting bar area where single diners can nosh is a plus too. The bathrooms were very clean and kept up nicely. All things considered: the million dollar views of the Bay, the wonderful food, staff hospitality and the notorious affordability of the S.F. area in general...and Fire & Ice delivers one heckuva' dining value here @ Pier 39 in my humble opinion. The builders really aced it with this one. Give them a try and I don't think you'll be disappointed. Great job staff. You created an unforgettable dining experience. read more

not going to lie I was super excited about coming here because of all the Instagram videos I've seen my friends wanted to come here so we came with my bbf one night we waited about 10 minutes outside. There was another group in front of us and we were seated in the booth in the corner. The set up was OK, but I was expecting a lot more when it came to the bars we spoke with the bartender and we pretty much asked him like how was your day stuff and like that it was not taken well at all. He didn't suggest no drinks we weren't really greeted. However, we had a great server. He was super fantastic and the only reason why I gave this place a three stars he answered a lot of questions and everything that we wanted to know was right there when we needed service but the host and the bartender should've been nicer this is definitely a sports bar/club kind of vibe the lighting was very club like and this def a hibachi style noodles we went there around dec for timeline reference read more

This was an absolute blast. Really simple concept: you fill a bowl with your choice from a very diverse mix of proteins, starches, and veggies, then choose from one of a dozen sauces. You hand them to the chef behind a huge round grill and he preps them as you watch. After surveying the ingredients I chose, he made some perceptive suggestions as to what else would complement the dish and then grilled it all up. My only suggestion to a first-new customer is to not fill the bowl on your first time through. It's all you can eat, so start with a small portion so you don't immediately fill up. That way you can explore the almost infinite variety of dishes you can create. There are "recipes" available via QR code and the chef recommended, for my second pass, a veggie heavy chicken dish with garlic, ginger and pineapple which turned out beautifully. Fun for families and very affordable. Plus a killer view of the SF Bay and Alcatraz. Highly recommended. read more

I hadn't been to a Mongolian style grill experience in close to 25 years. The 10 year old had been given the assignment of picking a restaurant for after we went whale watching. The 10 year old loves a good choose your own adventure dining experience and this fit the bill. We went for lunch on a Friday, weekday lunch prices ate $25/adults and $13/children 4-11. Per staff you can go back as many times as you would like for two hours. They have a lot veggie, pasta/grain and meat options. Proteins for non-meat either included two kinds of beans, protein pasta and tofu. They have an abundance of sauces which are well labeled in terms of Vegan, Vegetarian and GF. Because it is a buffet-type set up cross contamination does occur, so would likely not be great fit for severe allergies. Food is also cooked all on the same giant grill. However, they do clean it after each round of cooking, and likely would be open to cleaning it prior to cooking your food should you be concerned about cross contamination. Staff were friendly. Would say, it was a bit hard to find staff at times, however, not an excessive wait. Restaurant was clean as well as bathrooms. We had a blast. It's a great option for groups as everyone can pick their own items. Oh, and good views if you get seated by a window. read more

The waiter was incredibly friendly and great (Nikhil). He was apologetic that they weren't able to offer any mixed drinks at the bar since apparently the bartender left (this was at 6:45pm). They still offered beer and wine. Ambiance was fun and you couldn't ask for a better view. Stunning. Food was good. It is kind of like a buffet of uncooked stuff that you fill a bowl with and then bring it to the cook. One downside is there is only one giant skillet so if your vegetarian, your food might be cooked 5 inches away from a pile of seafood or steak and the cook uses the same utensils to handle all food (we asked if he was able to use a non-seafood covered spatula for the vegetarian with us and he said no). A few of the ingredients from my concoction did end up getting mixed into my wife's food. Overall it is a fun experience and my kids LOVED it. I wish I could have gotten a few margaritas to enjoy with the view but alas, maybe next time. read more

Came on the weekend, we were asked if we had reservation, which we didn't, but they sat us right away. Place was probably 40% occupied. Service was slow, we saw our server 2x: when he picked up the dirty dishes from the table and when he brought the check. The host was the one we saw the most. After getting seated and waiting a few minutes, we decided to just get up to the food bar, we've been to similar places so you can figure out what to do. Food was ok, the bowls were tiny so you had to go in at least 3x for food. The line at the grill moves slow, and even though they take a lot of people's bowls it goes by slow. Some parts of the food bar was messy or out. When we were onto our 2nd trip to the bar, host brought us the waters. Again, no waiter until then. The table next to us also got their waters from the host. Overall, service was not great, food was just ok, and would probably not go back. read more

It wasn't a good experience. The service was nominal and one cook wouldn't "interact" at all. It was our first time visiting and the ordering method was not clear at all. Very confusing. And beware of the pricing structure; especially with people who don't eat a lot. They also automatically add a surcharge for tip. On average, we were charged about $45/person. Not worth that. read more

I really wanted to like this place because of the location at Pier 39, but it was a massive disappointment. There is absolutely no value in the food for the price they charge--nearly $36 for dinner just for the buffet. The food was not fresh; the selection of ingredients at the "interactive" bar looked like they had been sitting out way too long, and the quality was middling at best. To make matters worse, the tip was preset at a staggering 25% on the handheld terminal, which feels like a total shakedown for tourists. Between the lukewarm, uninspired food and the aggressive "suggested" tipping, this place is the definition of a tourist trap. There are much better ways to spend $40+ per person in San Francisco. Skip this one. read more

Came here after a night tour of Alcatraz. I was worried we'd be turned away because we came within an hour of closing and reservations were closed online but the hostess was warm and welcomed us in, no problem. Upon being sat we were walked through the experience but I was too hungry to follow along because I missed the memo on sauce in a separate container and my husband missed the memo on pack the bowl. Needless to say our first round was mediocre at best, but that may have been our fault. The second round we learned from our mistakes and were both more satisfied with our second plate. Still, overall I don't think I would go out of my way to come back despite the social media appeal. Pros, staff is friendly. All you can eat is all you can eat, even after closing which was a big bonus. Cons, the build your bowl stations are a bit of a mess in terms of sloppy and bottle necks. The cooks can be hard to communicate with, my friend had her order messed up by a cook using another patron's sauce which soured our whole experience. Tips, if you're hungry, a bowl of veggies and seafood will cook quicker and may result in a shorter wait time. I can't imagine the wait during a busy time, so maybe come during off peaks. Go surf and turf only if you're a fan of well done meat. Also do not come here with allergies as this place screams cross-contamination hazard. I was really looking forward to this place because the closest Mongolian BBQ spot near me was shut down with the latest closure of your old school malls. I thought this would fill a void for me but the truth is that it didn't because it was Mongolian and then some... Italian, Mexican, and American. Not for me but may be for diverse groups of folks craving different cuisines. read more

Something that made this place stand out from the usual dinner spots was that you could choose what you wanted to include in your meal. For mine, I picked out a combination of shrimp, noodles, vegetables, and sauces, which was really cool to watch cook on the large grill. The ingredients seemed fresh and the shrimp stayed juicy. The staff was on it when it came to keeping the plates clean and the area organized, which just added to the upbeat time. Fire & Ice is an amazing "All U can eat" place right at Pier 39 in San Francisco. We visited this restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday and man it was nice. Great views of Pier, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, lots of ferries and boats passing, etc. We visited on Sunday in the afternoon around 2:30PM and it wasn't that busy at all. We tried different variances of sauces and pasta/veggies combination every time we got up to get seconds. Being a strict vegetarian it was very important for us to not get our food mixed up with meats and loved how they have separate sections for pasta/noodles/rice, veggies, meats, seafood, sauces and spices to make sure it doesn't get mixed with each other. We requested our food to be cooked separately and the two gentleman at the grill were more than happy to accommodate it and cleaned a quarter section (for 5 of us) for our food to be cooked. Because of not so busy times, there were only 2-3 servers and it took some time to get our drinks served. If they are busy or if you strict Vegetarian or Vegan like us, you can also request your food to be cooked inside the kitchen as they have a separate grill or something they can cook your meals separately. One suggestion to keep in mind: I called in and made a reservation for Sunday afternoon on Friday and I was give a verbal confirmation, but when I called in on Sunday morning on our way to the restaurant, I was surprised to hear that there was no reservation for us. I talked to Jerry and he saved our day by making another reservation and immediately received a confirmation text as well as email. So please make sure you receive a written confirmation if you make a reservation. Shout Out to JERRY & Chelsey for accommodating us and going over and above to make our experience enjoyable and comfortable. Parking: There is a parking garage right across from Pier 39 and also there are many other street parking, other garages, etc options around the restaurant. Location: Great location (all the way at the end/back of Pier 39). You'll have to make your way through tourists, but per our experience, it's worth the efforts. Dietary Restrictions: Good place for Vegetarians & Vegans alike. Please request to have to food cooked separately to avoid cross contamination. Coupons or other offers: We're a VIP members for this restaurant and were suppose to receive a Birthday Discount since we were celebrating my wife's birthday, but were told by our server and manager that this location does not accept or honor and coupons or offers.
