Fabulous sandwiches fresh made in deli. Nice clean market, small and good selection. Will go again

After thirty plus years of shopping at Fircrest Market I have realized I will need to find a different grocery store. Fircrest has ALWAYS carried everything I needed to stock my kitchen, but with the new owners, all that has changed. When the twins took over from Ken and Jane, the store remained mostly the same and they added even more items. But now, the twins' footprint has totally been erased and along with it, the necessary items needed to make this a usable grocery store as opposed to a place where people just stop in for the occasional specialty item. I hope this message comes through loud and clear to the new owners: I've been a loyal customer, as have many people in my neighborhood and community, for decades, but the current stock and store arrangement is causing us to have to search elsewhere to keep our pantries stocked. We don't need a specialty items store with exotic off-brand odds and ends. Before the change in ownership, I could buy all sorts of wonderful things from the English import section and STILL get Oscar Meyer bacon. This side of Sebastopol needs a reliable grocery store that sustains the needs if its community. Please do better in stocking the day-to-day essentials that we live off of. read more

Their deli is fantastic, they make wonderful sandwiches and at a reasonable price. Plenty of fillings and are of good quality. I order ahead and the sandwiches are wrapped and have napkins with them. The staff are helpful and very nice. Great place read more

Good prices. Staff friendly and say they are kinda happy with new owner. But I really wish there was more organic veg and fruit. Andy's improved with increasing amount of organic choices and I'm sure it brings more people in. So Fiesta should step up too. read more

I do not like the attitude of ONE worker and I believe her name is Isabella. It's years and years of micro aggression. The adolescence of a late teen/twenty something year old is extremely pernicious to say the least. I'm still enjoying life amongst the cold stare of a youth. this is purely for the customer service. we are visiting town this week and come to support local businesses. this place has everything you need and the produce is super fresh. so the store itself is 5 stars. reason for the one star: We were about to check out. This old lady at the register gestured my husband to give her the basket. He handed her the basket, she grabbed it, and he let the basket go (as a normal person would?). THEN, she started to yell at my husband, we were so confused. After she yelled a few times and realized she was saying "don't let go!" Okay...then why did she grab the basket? i was in shocked/surprised/WTF while my husband is getting the groceries scanned and ready to pay. We let her know that we have our own shopping bag but she just put our groceries in the paper bag. Not really complaining but it just seems like a waste. i wonder if this is her first day on the job, I hope the management will give her a proper training of how to communicate with customers. read more

This is in reference to the young white blonde short woman. (Seniors, middle aged people and or people of color. Be on the lookout) I was just there this week. And as the only non white person I was stared down by said young blonde white woman. I have been shopping there for 5 years. I am always disappointed in the young people who are employed there. There is always one young person who wants negative attention by staring with a bad attitude. Most customers are 20 plus years older than said worker wants the whole room to stop and coddle them. Absolutely not. No amount of a stare down by a child is acceptable. I do hope to run into said person again because I'd like have the whole staff hold this one singular person accountable read more

Fantastic locally owned market. I shop at Fircrest Market several times per week. They feature fresh fish, locally sourced meats and sausages and an outstanding deli department. The market has all the basics in addition to lots of options for gourmet and organic products. Local produce and cheeses from Sonoma County Farmers and baked goods from local bakeries like Costeaux Bakery. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and always have a smile. Things have changed! Watch the "use by" dates on products you buy. The wine I like is $3 or more than other "upscale" markets in surrounding communities, They are not selling ground meat by the pound - if you want a pound of ground beef - the butcher "can't" give you that. It's one and a half pounds or less then a pound - which is a scam as far as I'm concerned - if you need a pound you have to pay for more. I could go on! Wish they had kept the same business model of the previous owners! Giving it 2 stars - because the staff are still amazing as is the deli - they are actually 5 stars! I've been an unwavering customer for 30 years - but shopping elsewhere now! Hope they see this review and rethink their model - there are too many options close to them! read more

The way I miss this place don't live nearby anymore but I swear this deli has the most unmatched prosciutto sandwich I've ever had and I crave it so hard some days. Tgr quality and amount of cured pork on it, whatever bakery they get their bread from (probably Franco American); been craving y'all's sandwiches forever read more

Very disappointing and a huge waste of time. 5/15/23 at 4.30pm, I just spent 30 mins carefully selecting (and looking forward to) some local beers and wines, but was told at check-out that they wouldn't accept my out-of-state (Colorado) driver's license. They also won't accept a US passport. Neither were expired. I'm all for being pro-local, but to not even sell to anyone from out of state?? Seems a bit odd for such a touristy destination. It was extra shocking because they sold me beer yesterday and it wasn't a problem then. If you're visiting the area from out of state, don't waste your time here and shop somewhere you can buy both food and drink at the same time. read more

Management: please don't let your customer service go downhill. I love to support this store and appreciate that you hire young kids for the experience. But you have to teach them good customer service. The last three times I have shopped, I have gotten 3 different workers, not one has any idea of customer service. No hello, or thank you. One kid was letting another worker know he was closing his line so he could pee. Customer service is all a reflection of management and training. It's hard to leave stores disgusted by the price of everything now, but to leave without a friendly thank you just makes it that much worse read more

Special thanks to the great staff at this store. Christmas Eve, as I was getting ready to cook for the next day, I realize that I had forgotten the main ingredient for the desert I promise to bring to the family gathering the next day. Total panic! I rushed down to this market, and they were closing, and sweetly escorting the last of the customers to their cars. As I ran up to the door the manager had just locked the door, and the lights were being turned off. I was desperate because my family was expecting my special treats! Not only did the manager open up the store for me, they escorted me through the isles with a flashlight while I found my chocolate, and then opened up a register to ring me up . I have never experienced such compassion at a grocery store in my life! These people are absolutely fantastic. Every time I've been in there, I received kind smiles and great service. Sept 8 - New Fircrest - not off to a good start. All the prices were raised. the don't sell BREAD or CAKE flour, but they do stock expensive and exotic flours that no one uses. Deli - all the good people are gone, and the new ones are super slow. Is it growing pains? Hopefully. I'll remove this review if they get BREAD flour (and CAKE flour in the pink box). Some of the cashiers are snarkly, but hopefully they will be gone shortly. read more

This is one of the few groceries in Sebastopol and it's location makes it the only place for a certain distance. Hence the prices can be high unless they are on sale. They have a diversity of inventory but you're paying for it. The best things are the $$$ fresh orange Juice in front of the store and their meat tends to be fresh. The butchers are happy to take requests and you can even call in and pick up later in the day. Some of their bone in pork chops were cut very unevenly though, with the thickest part being the bone and a half inch less thick at the outer edges. This would definitely not cook evenly. It would also be nice to see thicker cuts of steak, chops, etc. And what happened to the organic chicken liver? It was delicious!the staff is always nice. read more

Love these people who are all about the community they serve. Hard to believe some people found a way to criticize the help. In the 9 years I've been coming here, I've never met friendlier people. They have nearly everything, the produce is fresh, fish and meats are top quality and handled with care, but maybe the best part of Fircrest is the deli. Their sandwiches are just the best. At least they toast the bread good ratio of meat to sauerkraut and I went with light sauce I hate it when my Reuben taste like thousand Island over load! I have been a customer here for many years and I'm not so happy about a recent visit. While I was with my young in training service dog he was vocal while waiting for me. We were kicked out of the store. This is very upsetting and he has every right to be with me while he is learning. I know I could file a discrimination compliant but I will let it go this time. Even though the market is small compared to large chain grocery stores, I always call them first when I am looking for an unusual ingredient. Several times they have been the only store in town that carries the item. The person looking for the item may have to look carefully for what I want, but they do and often find it. This market is iconic. Growing up in Sebastopol, we came here at least weekly. The deli sandwiches are super yummy, the produce is always fresh, the staff is friendly and helpful, tons of local items, and the meat/seafood are delicious. Mediocre and overpriced. Sebastopol is a small town, and has a Safeway, Whole Foods, community market, Fircrest market, pacific market (formerly fiesta) and if I am being honest, whole Foods and Safeway are on top, and the rest is the rest. There's certainly nothing exceptional about these places. At least Safeway and Whole Foods have higher standards, so maybe corporate is not a bad thing? read more
