Called Walrath and left message after hours and they called Monday morning and were able to set appt. for Tuesday even though they were booked. Dan in Service was able to maneuver personnel to fit us into schedule and had unit repaired by Tuesday evening . Temperatures were up to 100 degrees these days and extremely uncomfortable for us including for our two year Granddaughter, especially at nap time. I want to alert the public to the unscrupulous actions of this Lakewood-based company…read more A year ago a serviceman from Walrath Heating and Air Conditioning alerted me that my 20 year-old furnace was on its last leg. He suggested that I plan to save $6000 to $7000 for a new one this fall. In November I met with a Walrath salesperson who evaluated where the furnace was located in my crawl space and advised that the price would be $8000. Two days later his written proposal came in at $10,000. When I asked him about the difference, he said that he had forgotten to add in how labor intensive my particular installation would be. He was certain it would go into a second day. I took him at his word. It took the workmen less than 6 hours to complete the job. The salesman and head of the company - now called Walrath Mechanical - refuse to talk to me about the $2000 extra I was charged for labor that was not required. This is a scam. I have since noted on Yelp that I am not the only reviewer of Walrath who trusted a grossly inflated bid. These guys are crooks. Homeowners like me and managers of commercial properties may have once appreciated this small company. Don't be fooled - they no longer care about you.

Reza didn't charge a show up fee like most companies requested to get me a quote which was very nice considering we didn't know the best route to take to solve the issue. Reza was very easy to communicate with via text and over the phone for several days on end trying to get a solution even outside of typical working hours. He was very professional to work with the entire time, even when I was juggling being a dad with two infants when he was onsite looking at my system. I ended up finding a bypass solution to my issue that I had the origial installers solve due to their issues the left me in, but Reza had worked very hard in finding an alternate way to solve it, that we were hours away of implementing. I would highly recommend using Caspian for your HVAC needs, I know I'll be contacting Reza the next time I need assistance.

I had a lengthy conversation with the owner Jared who actually had the nerve to say that well sometimes they will miss some spots. (See my photos and decide if that was "some spots.") Jared actually had the nerve to attempt to discredit our new Hvac company who is very reputable in the industry and around town when our AC went out completely after only being in our new home for 1 month by saying that we didn't need to replace the condenser like our new HVAC company had strongly suggested and another HVAC co that came out also said was necessary. The funny part about it was Jared had actually never been out to our house to even assess the broken down condenser and broken furnace part that our HVAC company said needed more than just repairs. Jared simply wanted to do a mickey mouse patch work job and then have us call him back in a year when the condenser and furnace would fail again because it was not replaced in the first place which would have been the proper way to handle it. Additionally, Jared became very defensive on the phone and when I asked him how can you say that the other HVAC company is wrong when you have never actually looked at our broken units? He stuttered and became silent. Very unethical company. Stay far far away. You will be sinking money trying to do little repairs that in the long run will cost you greatly.

I went with the Trane Run Tru 95% efficient furnace. This furnace has broken down every season. Each time the parts failed in it. I was sold on this was a Trane product and wouldn't have many issues. Well I have had an issue foe each of the 3 years i have had the furnace. Trane is good about replacing parts for the 1st 3 years but then you're on your own.. Matt got only gave a competitive price, but was the only one familiar with the Ecobee smart thermostat that I wanted to use to control the humidifier. When I hired Matt, he was extremely prompt, super reliable, and took great care with my installation. My Ecobee thermostat required an extra wire to trigger the humidifier and Matt spent an extra two hours just fishing a wire through my house without having to cut through any walls (which I was very much trying to avoid). It turned out to be a perfect installation and I was extremely impressed with his pride of handiwork. He even refused to bill me for the extra time to fish my new wire because he wanted to stick to his original quote so I wouldn't have an unexpected cost. Plus, on top of all that, he serviced both of my furnaces for free. I don't think it's common to tip service professionals, but needless to say he earned every bit of the tip I gave to compensate for the extra time and attention to detail. Even after the installation Matt was concerned about his customer and followed up with me on how the humidifier was performing. As it turned out, my water pressure was very high and every time the humidifier cycled it would make a big knock through the house. True to character, Matt showed up and installed a device on the water line that quiets the pressure changes as well as some pipe insulation to deaden any residual noise. And then he tried not to charge me! About eight months later we ended up moving for my job and the new home buyer wanted the HVAC certified to be in good order. I reached back out to Matt and asked if he could come by and take a look to certify there were no concerns. He did a full HVAC maintenance of both units and wrote up a letter for me to share with the buyer. And again, tried to say it was no charge. If you're looking for a trustworthy, reliable, honest, and knowledgeable HVAC professional, Matt is your number one choice! He even offered to help me with a virtual consultation after my move if I need it. Honestly, there are a few things I miss after moving out of state and Matt is one of them!
