We were greeted from the moment we opened the door. Immediately, a gentleman was grabbing our bags and stowing them for us. They had our room ready 3 hours early. They have 22 rooms. The dining room is located on the top floor and caters to guests first. They offer breakfast from 0800-1030. Lunch and tea times during the day as well as dinner in the evenings. Breakfast is included in your stay and is only available to in house guests. All meals here are very exclusive and I do recommend making reservations. You can sit inside the dining room or on the deck. They have some high seating areas to block the wind. The seagulls will try to get your food. Just be aware.
They have an extensive cocktail menu and they are artfully creative with each drink. I love the dry ice machine they use to chill and frost the glasses.
They encourage you to walk around and see the ship. They even offer to go with you if you'd like some extra information. The bottom floor os the engine room. They have truly made even it beautiful. Glass floors and walls allow you to see everything.
The ballroom and bar are gorgeous. Each of their 22 rooms is named after a lighthouse that this ship maintained prior to being decommissioned. They are tastefully and beautifully decorated. There are surprisingly, charging outlets everywhere. A large armoire and plenty of desk space. There is a fully stocked mini fridge. Coffee pot with pod choices, tea pot with tea choices, tooth brushes, scrubbing pad, upscale shampoo, conditioner, 2 body washes (different scents) and a body hydrate. Robes, slippers. They have truly thought of everything.
Oh, do let me add, the mattresses are from the Queen's recommendation. They are firm, but oh so comfy. Best night sleep.
Staff is constantly cleaning. Smudges don't last long on the brass or glass.
The location of this hotel is in Leith. Just outside of Edinburgh's Royal mile. About 2.3 miles. We got here on Aug 12. The peak of the Fringe Festival and Tattoo events. We walked into that area daily, but were grateful not to have to stay down there during that time.
The rooms can be pricey. But I do recommend getting an upgrade with walk out access or 2 levels. It's a unique experience. read more
