I've visited the Biscuit Factory two years in a row for their ESAF exhibition, as the site is one of the festival's biggest sponsors each year. I have to say that it's a perfect venue for contemporary art exhibitions because of the building's unique industrial look and feel. Last year's ESAF launch, in particular, was stunning, making good use of the building's big spaces which beautifully showcases the festival's diverse programme. This year's festival has just recently concluded and it is a equal fest for the eyes! A lot of the pieces featured projection work which worked well in the spaces, both in the building's stunning skylight level as well as the lofty ceilinged ground floor which still retains the original white tiles from when the building were one of Crawford Biscuits four Biscuit factories in Leith!
It's easy to see how the Biscuit Factory can be a popular space for the younger crowd but I've received a lot of private invitations to this year's events which shows that a lot of work has gone in the building's programming showing there's something for everyone! So sad I wasn't able to attend their birthday party last week as I heard a lot of good things from the private event last week, and the pictures really showed how much the spaces have vastly improved. Can't wait for their events this coming summer, especially the Edinburgh Craft Beer Festival which will surely transform the space and I hear the line-up is amazing!
Facilities are standard and easily accessible, depending on which floor you are on. Staff is great but the best part is their hot bartenders! read more
