To be clear this review is of their scheduling and reservation management, not the actual cruise as my sailing adventure was cancelled 3 hours prior to the start. The cancellation was not due to bad weather, but poor management as the ship wasn't even in the water. I was extremely disappointed that the cancellation was so last minute and the staff would have known several days in advance as it takes several days to prepare a sailboat to be put in. A couple weeks prior to the date, I reserved the full sailboat cruise and was told the ship wasn't in the water yet to call back closer to the date. Three days in advance of the cruise, I called back and confirmed the time, date, and location. Everything was in order. As I'm preparing to leave the house, I receive a phone call that our reservation was cancelled. The gentleman I spoke with did give me the option of other cruises that were leaving at similar times, however there was no sailboat option and after the late notice cancellation I had no desire to venture out on the water with the company. read more

Had a great time. Did the lighthouse tour one day and the lobster tour the next. Boats were clean and comfortable, crew was pleasant as can be (Bill on the lighthouse tour is one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet). The lighthouse tour is an hour and a half. We had semi-rough conditions so one needs to be prepared for ocean weather. Saw lots of millionaire mansions along the coast, the Cliff House, harbor seals (we saw plenty of them), porpoises (I'm sure they were out there, but I didn't see any), and of course the lighthouse. Drinks are available on the boat, which is also equipped with a head. The lobster tour is a short 50 minute tour. Smaller boat - no drinks, no head. We had delightful weather (what a difference a day makes). We hoisted one trap, which had an egg-bearing female (an "eggah" in Maine-speak). Made for a great impromptu biology lesson. Also learned about Maine's conscientious efforts to preserve its lobster fisheries (we threw Ms. Eggah back in the drink after notching her tail to tell others to do the same). Great time for kids. Get to see and hold a lobster and the Captain invited all the youngsters to help him steer the boat back to port. Great fun for everyone. read more

Full disclosure - I used to work for Finestkind Cruises years ago. I recently got married in Ogunquit and of course wanted to include Finestkind in my wedding festivities. We ended up doing a small bachelorette party on their 5:45 Cocktail Cruise. We also booked the 7:00 Cocktail Cruise for our rehearsal dinner. It was a great experience. The crew is so helpful and accommodating but more importantly fun! I highly recommend using them for your next event. We had many people visiting from out of town for our wedding and they were blown away by the scenery and sunset. Fantastic experience. Went on their cocktail cruise; staff was very pleasant and professional. The trip was about an hour, and included a guided tour of the shoreline and then went farther out to sea for a bit. There we saw dolphins which was nice There was an option of drinks on board; most mixed drinks ran about $8. There was also an option of beer, 12 or 16oz but not sure of the price as no one in our party had. The rum punch was very good!!! I would recommend making reservations a few days ahead if you are going in peak season. You do not need to pay in advance. Price of the ticket for the cocktail cruise was $17. Quintessential tourist experience when visiting Ogunquit and Perkins Cove. Our tour guide (Bill) was entertaining, informative and helpful. This is hands down the best way to see Nubble Lighthouse. Perfect Sunday evening activity. Seasonal hours. Call ahead. Went on the 5:45 pm (be there by 5:30) Sunday Cocktail cruise (only box wine available). But, they do have decent beer and mixed drinks (but no pina colada). Nothing too fancy. Get tickets at Perkins Cove and the small boat leaves from same spot. Worst Fourth of July cruise ever! We were supposed to see the fireworks on Ogunquit Beach but the driver decides to try and squeeze in another set of fireworks down at another beach and we didn't get back in time for the Ogunquit Beach fireworks on time and when he did get back he didn't even park close enough. A waste of $200 and some very disappointed kids. Also the captain of the boat pushed everyone aside in the line to get to the front with three girlfriends of which he flirted with the whole time and also let one of his girlfriends drive the boat. Tough to review. 1 1/2 hours was more than enough, seeing the lighthouse was definitely fun. The ride was much choppier and rough than I had expected, and when I asked the woman at the desk, if it was rough , she replied haven't had any complaints today, but you can look at the water if you want. Hmmm, would have thought after numerous cruises during the day that they would know it wasn't that calm there. Was a sunny day when we went, so was surprised. Probably worth doing the 50 minute lobster trip instead if you go. read more

For $24 per person you can take a nice boat tour to Nubble Light and back, close enough to the shore to check things out and if you're new to the area you can also see all the lobster traps in the water. The guide was a little new to the job, but still informative enough. Two things I learned on the trip--Perkins Cove was originally dredged in 1925 (probably by rum-runners I'm guessing) and later by the Coast Guard, and the little drawbridge over the cove to allow tall boats in is operated by nearby pedestrians pressing a button-- so if someone dear to you is standing on that bridge do not press that button cos you may lose them. read more

I have been on all of the cruises they have to offer and these cruises are the best you can get in Ogunquit, just make sure you reserve a spot a day or two before you want to go because seats go fast. Choose from several different types of cruises suck as the nubble light cruise or a cocktail cruise at various times. Every cruise has fantastic staff that give you a history lesson through the intercom about the shoreline of Ogunquit/York. Don't forget your camera because you will want to snap some pictures of the breath taking coast and the captains sometimes let the little one drive the boat. The only complaint I have is that it can get a little pricey. read more

We took the lighthouse cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our guide was pleasant and informative. The boat was clean and comfortabe The staff was very helpful. My hat blew off as I was boarding the boat and someone fetched it out of the water, cleaned it off and created a makeship strap from rope so it wouldn't blow off again. The tour itself was great, the guides were very knowledgeable and engaging. I went with my whole extended family of 12 people including 6 kids and they all enjoyed it. We had made a reservation and had no problem when we got there. I informed them we were all there and made sure they knew who was in my party. After getting off the boat I noticed 2 voicemails from them, being very rude and unprofessional. Apparently they thought we had not shown up. It is understanding that that that is upsetting but they should get facts straight and should still be professional when handling these issues. I informed the person who was at the booth, she told me it was her boss that called. She apologized but no apology came from him. read more

Must do the Cricket! We had a fabulous afternoon sail with Grant, the Captain, and another couple. We were a little hesitant with the size of the boat, but it was perfect. Outstanding group of people! We went on their lighthouse tour today and were all blown away at the level of attention and knowledge we received on our excursion. My son (almost 4) and I took the lobstering boat tour from Finestkind today. What a fun, informative and beautiful tour! It's 50 minutes. The guide tells you about the history of the area, while you motor out of Perkins Cove. You watch as the Captain hauls up lobster traps, explains the process, explains how lobsters are selected, and how they are conserved, how they band them, and how they rebait the trap to go back down. Everyone gets a chance to hold the lobsters, and there is also a container of sea urchins, spider crabs, hermit crabs and dog welks that kids can touch and hold as well. You get to see the coast from just past the Cliff house, to just past the Ogunquit River. Gorgeous views of a beautiful coast. It was a great way to see the coast, understand lobstering and conservancy, and get some interesting history. We will be back and I highly recommend this tour for any age! We also tipped the Captain at the end of the tour. read more

I took the lobster trip. It's a little bit over an hour long. They take you out into the bay, give you some history of the area and tell you a lot about lobsters. The boat captain/tour guide pulled up 4 or 5 lobster traps and we were able to see quite a few lobsters and what they look for and how they know which ones to keep. The price was very reasonable - $13.00 for adults. I would recommend this for school-age kids and adults. Finest Kind also has breakfast cruises, sunset cruises and lighthouse cruises. read more

Planned a 50th birthday cruise. Booked back in April for end of August. This company is the most unorganized business I have ever dealt with. I called earlier int he week to reconfirm and they called me in a panic the morning of saying they had not heard from me. When we arrived at the boat they had a different boat than I booked - larger boat. I was not told why but when we came in after the cruise I was told it would cost me $300 more than we agreed because of the larger boat. I was treated very rudely at this point. Finally they agreed to my rate. The actual cruise and the staff on the boat were great but the people who made the reservation and then were on hand for collect the $$$ the day of were very unprofessional and made for a very poor experience. read more
