This ride is classic nostalgic Disneyland. The line cue is outdoors. Not too much shelter on a rainy day , some shade on a hot sunny day. It can be a longer wait as this is a slower ride. You have to climb a few steps down in to the submarine. It's not good for those with mobility issues or for people who do not like enclosed spaces. The ride is fun and good for all ages. It has Mr Ray and Dory, just vibrant for the most part. There is only one park when they are in the darkest part of the ocean and see an angler fish. After you are die. With the ride there are other rides like autopia, the Disneyland railroad , and the monorail. There are restrooms close as well. read more

I'll be honest, this ride just didn't do it for me. We hadn't been on it in years and decided to give it a try for old times' sake, but it ended up being a bit of a letdown. The Finding Nemo theme is cute, and I can see how it might appeal to younger kids, but overall it just wasn't very exciting. On the plus side, it wasn't crowded at all, so we had an entire row to ourselves, which was super nice. It also worked as a good spot to sit and rest for a bit during a long park day. Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage is located at the Tomorrowland area of Disneyland. It originally opened as Submarine Voyage on June 14, 1959 and then was reopened as Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage on June 11, 2007. You ride in a submarine and go under water through the journey of Finding Nemo. Like an actual submarine, the spaces are tight so you're shoulder to shoulder with the people next to you. We were both falling asleep pretty much from the start to the end of the ride. It was about a 13 minute ride but it felt like way longer. We had a chance to ride the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage ride. The wait time was less than 15 minutes, and it was the first time that my husband ever rode the Nemo ride! Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage doesn't have a lightning lane option either. The wait can get relatively hot, especially during the summer. This ride is for any height. It's slow, dark, and is considered a water ride. The attraction is located in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park. When boarding the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, be careful! The steps are really small! You can also hit your head going down or coming out of the submarine. The seating is relatively small. If you're claustrophobic, I highly recommend not riding this ride. The ride is really small, and it can get hot pretty quickly in the submarine! You'll get to see a slightly different view depending on which side of the submarine you sit at! You'll see Dory, Marlin, Bruce the Shark, Nemo, Bubbles, and so much more on the submarine voyage! You may even see some scuba divers and artifacts of an ancient civilization! This has always been one of those rides at Disneyland that I only go on if there is no line. Even when they renovated it with the "Finding Nemo" theme, I felt they could have done more with it. I do love the Nemo movies, but you are basically watching highlights of the movie through a porthole. Going through the waterfall is probably the most exciting part. Submarine Voyage opened not too long after Disneyland opened back in the 1950's. It is located in the Tomorrowland area. I like when you walk up to the ride and hear the seagulls say "Mine, Mine, Mine". You might want to avoid this ride if you are claustrophobic or don't like sitting right next to strangers. Since the last time I've been on the Finding Nemo ride, I believe they refurbished and updated it since I enjoyed it much more recently than from what I remember. However, I still do preface that anything over a 15-20 minute wait may really be pushing it. You wait to board on the yellow submarine as you go down into the waters of the Great Barrier Reef. It starts off fairly educational and then when you dive deeper you get to meet the beloved characters from the Finding Nemo series and see what their up to, along with some familiar lines from the movie as well. The glass isn't as dulled and scratched up and the bubbles aren't so obscuring either. Definitely much easier to peer through and gaze out into the water. Fairly simple "ride" that honestly works more like a moving aquarium "show". It does still get a bit stuffy in there and may not be the best for someone who is claustrophobic, but not bad overall. read more

It's been years since I had been on the submarines at Disneyland and I briefly had gone on them after Disney rethemed it to Finding Nemo. And ever since COVID, getting into one of those submarines was really LOW on my priority list. However, my husband told me he had never been on it so we made it a point to wait in line and get on it. We did ride it and shuffled on and sat down in the claustrophobic seats next to quite a few strangers. We watched as the watery depths changed and saw the different little scenes from the original ride move into introducing characters from Finding Nemo. You see Nemo, Dory, Marlin, and even Squirt as you float by. This is definitely for the kids if you want to be contained in a small yellow submarine for what feels like forever. This ride needs a refurb STAT as we saw some of the barnacles knocked off and the bolts underneath peeking out. Interesting ride as it slowly moves you through a lagoon while you sit in a decent size "submarine ". The boat doesn't fully submerge but the windows allow a view of underwater activity. Finding Nemo Submarines is not one of my favorite rides. We would have skipped it if my youngest hadn't seen the ride. One look, and he was super excited about the ability to ride in a submarine. His excitement coupled with a 15 min. wait means we rode the ride. Ride transitions from fake sea creatures to projections of Nemo and friends. It is the idea that riders stumbled upon Nemo and his friend, and that new technology gives us the ability to hear what they are saying. After the ride, I asked him if he liked it. He is old enough to know that the projections of characters are fake, but did think the corals were real. One of my older children commented that it was hard to see the scenes through all the bubbles. Really young children will get the most from this ride. It is very tight inside the submarines. The Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage traumatized my child, and it wasn't especially fun for the rest of us. I have vague memories of going on this ride as a child. Was there maybe a non-Ariel mermaid down there? I don't know, but in any case, I was basically going in fresh when we visited Disneyland last month. The submarine was one of a handful of attractions we could ride with both our sons, who are three and one, so we decided to check it out. We were warned going in that there would be some steep stairs, and that we would spend the duration of the ride in an enclosed space. We found our way down into the cabin of the submarine, where we sat in a row of small seats fronting individual portholes that served as screens for the voyage. My three-year-old Leo B. was very interested in the barnacles and starfish and bubbles, and would have been happy if we hadn't seen anything else the whole ride. Instead, we went on a journey with Nemo and friends, which was well done and reasonably entertaining. I appreciated the animation while also knowing this would be a skip if I weren't with my children. Unfortunately, the one-two punch of the naval mine explosion and the anglerfish terrified Leo, who crawled onto my lap and started crying that he wanted to get out of the submarine. This was, of course, impossible, and it did not help matters when we were swallowed by a whale. I will say, though, this ride has stayed with him more than any other part of Disneyland. Many times over the last month, he's said, apropos of nothing, "I want to talk about the submarine," and I've had to go through the whole sequence of events with him--the explosion, the scary fish, the whale. It was definitely a notable experience for him, though not one we'll go out of our way to repeat. read more

This updated version of 20,000 leagues under the sea is really not much better than its original story. Instead of Captain Nemo, now you are on a journey with Nemo the fish. You still get into a submarine that appears to be descending underneath the water. You pass my a Mickey snorkling and see a coral reef. From there you enter a dark cave where you encounter Nemo in search of an active volcano. Along the way you meet some of Nemo's friends including Dory and Bruce. There really isn't any plot line to it. You sit in a tight submerged submarine from the start and you end up at the same place where you have started once you make your ascent from the cave. Personally I miss the giant squid from the former movie. Do be careful when getting in or out of the sub. It is a winding staircase and you need to hold on. On a positive note the subs look nice from the outside and you can get good pictures of the Matterhorn from the boarding area. Interesting enough the Magic Kingdom did away with the submarine ride years ago in order to set up Be our Guest restaurant, Gaston's tavern, the 7 dwarfs mine train, and the journey of the little Mermaid. Great for kids looking for a little immersive show and not a thrill ride. I remember the previous non-Nemo version of this ride and it's a lot better now. Great use of projectors and props to make it seem like you're in the ocean. Wait is usually medium on the Disney scale as well. In the outpost you see the same thing you'd see in the sub without walking down the stairs. This is a great attraction for kids who are familiar with Nemo and friends. I remember taking my older one to this so many years back. We recently took my younger one here. I will start with the most atrocious part of this attraction - the wait time. Anything but 45 min - 1 hour, even at 8pm when we finally decided to take it. It's a nice immersive experience. You have to climb down the steps and not much space in that cute little sub. It started well with a feel of diving deep to the ocean and then the show begins. You get to meet Nemo & friends. Let's explore. People ask me all the time how deep a USN submarine can go? Answer: all the way to the ocean bottom. You just have to make sure it comes back up. At least with this thing, we're taking maybe 20 feet deep. Another question is how many windows are in a USN submarine? Answer: two and one is the washing machine. At least with this thing, both sides of the sub have rows of windows. Passengers don't have to lean over each others shoulder for a view. Another question is do I get seasick? Answer: only when the sub is on the surface during high sea states. At least with this thing, it's all calm seas. Just imagine riding an airplane without the turbulence. Another question is do I get claustrophobic? Answer: no but if you do, then don't get on board because it's cramp and dark. It's a nice little ride to find hidden treasure just below the water's surface. And there are live fish in the water. It's is cold on board so wear a jacket and if near the hatch be aware it's not completely water tight so water will come in. JK a few drops. Overall four stars. If you have any types of claustrophobia than this ride isn't for you. You go into this submarine that has very steep steps that are scary going down. You go straight back where you sit and wait for the ride to get full with people. You sit super close to people and have a small hole that you look out where you go through the finding Nemo movie. It was clammy inside the submarine where the glass was getting fogged up even without you close to the glass. They don't wipe after each ride so it's like sitting in germs because people are all up in the window to look out and no thank you not for me. Once the ride ends which goes for awhile they don't open the hatch to let you out immediately it's like your sitting there for an extra 5-7 minutes. All I can think of is zombie apocalypse brakes out and we are stuck in this hole and we aren't getting out. Lol read more

It's a cool ride you enter into a submarine and the adventure begins it starts of like you're in a submarine then about halfway through the adventure they do a Nemo skit which is ok it's definitely fun for the kids. The downside for me is getting into the sub it's very narrow and seats are very close to each other you don't have elbow room. So if you are claustrophobic this ride could be a problem for you cause it's very tight space inside the sub. This is officially my least favorite ride at Disneyland or Disney World of all time. Do you remember being a kid and laying down in the bath, under the water, goggles on so you could see the water drifting back and forth over your face? Nemo Submarines are like that except there are 40 other people in your bath, the goggles are dirty, the unpleasant scent of mold fills the air, and there is a fun element of mild claustrophobic panic that you can't seem to shake. You might be picturing this ride to have that wistful feeling of old-world Disney, but no. The best part is, you just waited in line for 45 minutes to experience this anxiety activating attraction. The least invasive way to enjoy this ride is to walk around it and watch it from above. If I could never ride this one again, I would be totally ok with that and even give a little inner 'hoorah' at the thought. Oh my. Having rode a submarine before, I found this submarine ride unamusing. If you're a kid, who has ridden a submarine before, or has gone diving and has seen real sea life, you may be disappointed in the Finding Nemo Submarine Adventure ride. The line moved pretty quickly and we were at the front of the line before the estimated 45-minute wait. There are two rows of seats, each facing the outside of the submarine. The sub takes you around a manmade sea world with fake fishes, seaweed, jellyfish, and so forth. There's narration, sound effects, and lighting effects, but like I said, unamusing if you know what real sea life looks like. Oh well, at least my 2-year-old enjoyed the ride. Once upon a time, as the Voyage into Liquid Space (and the legendary 20,000 Leagues version at WDW), this ride would have warranted six stars, but unfortunately, Disney's ill-informed idea of rebranding some of its best ideas to make them more marketable to the short attention spans of today's masses almost makes me want to cry. The subs are fantastic, the ride mechanics are still super clever, and there are even enough heartbreakingly modified remnants of the original ride storyline to make it worth riding.... but I can't help but feel cheated by riding by underwater cartoons just because people can't be entertained for entertainment's sake without some kind of promotional character attached to it. read more

You have to step down into this "submarine" where it is super humid and musty smelling. Then you have to get your face close to the port hole to view the underwater features. It was uncomfortable because of the smell. Only get in this attraction if you have very young children who cannot participate in better rides at Disney. The seat bottoms rise when you stand up to allow space for people to walk through. Towards the end of the ride a man sat up and then immediately and abruptly tried sitting down which caused his back to hit the partially raised seat. The infrastructure of the old submarine ride in Tomorrowland really did fit perfectly for a revamp with the characters of Finding Nemo. Yes, the wait time can be a bit long due to the inefficient loading and unloading of the submarines - there's not really a way to get around that though. Still, if the waits not too long, it's a great ride for small kids. Of course the submarines don't actually submerge or change depth but instead it's an illusion done with the audio track, lights and Bubbles! You start off seeing more traditional animatronic elements in the beginning portion of the ride that is well lit and then as you "dive" into deeper waters there are animated screens that show the cast of Finding Nemo in their adventures it makes it much more whimsical and fun than just the animatronic fare of the Submarine ride of my childhood. My little 3 year old niece absolutely loved it - looking through the portholes and imagining she was really on a submarine. Quite possible the highlight of her first Disneyland experience! read more
