My daughter made an appointment with a braider at this location. She previously had her hair braided with this same stylist at a different location and wanted to book with her again. She made the appointment and paid the depost. We get to the appt and she sits in the chair and I sit on a nearby bench and start setting up my laptop because I'm still working.
The braider asks if I planned on waiting for her and I said, yes.
To which she says, "No extra guests". I was floored, baffled and confused, my daughter is 14.
I don't know you, I don't know this neighborhood and I'm not leaving my child in an unfamiliar environment. So I said, "I'm her mother." She moved on and so did I.
A few moments later, the young woman who opened the door approached meet and I realized I was sitting near the dryer. Turns out she's the owner.
So I said, 'Your client needs to sit here? Let me move.
She turns to the braider and asks, did you tell her no extra guests? She said yes.
Owner: Well, I don't want to get into your money but we have rules.
I had moved to the other end of the bench.
I said, I'm not an extra guest, I'm her mother.
And she says, you really wouldn't have anywhere to sit. There's only five us in the suite, it's a nice size and I'm still trying to understand what's going on.
So I said, you really just want me to leave my daughter here? She's a minor.
Owner: The other mother left her daughter. If she couldn't stay, neither can
you.
Mom: I have nothing to do with that.
Owner: There are no extra guests. You didn't read the website when you booked the appt.
Mom: She booked the appointment, so no I didn't read it. (She used this braider before, I checked the location, the cost and the validity of the salon).
Owner: It's on the website. You let a minor book her own appt?
How are going back and forth with me in my establishment?
Mom: Yes, she books it after checking with me first.
She's still telling the braider, I don't want to mess with your money but..
As if the braider is going to get me together.
You trying to go back and forth with somone much younger than you.
Ar this point, I had to restrain myself, verbally and otherwise.
I told the owner, I had enough and would just wait in my vehicle. I told the braider, she just lost a client.
I get the safety concern about individuals being around children rhey don't know but wouldn't thsy fall under the responsibility of the parents?
The audacity of this business owner to implement this type of rule. What about my parental concern?
I was literally shaking and in shock as I went to my vehicle.
I have NEVER had an issue waiting in the building waiting for my daughter getting anything of service. It's not like I'm one of her friends hanging out with her for the day. I am her mother!
What would be your liability had something happened to my daughter in your establishment young lady? When did a parent become an extra guest?
The disrespect. The audacity. The lack of professionalism and customer service has me shook.
I went to her Instagram account and there was nothing postes on the booking page but in the posts from Oct 2024, there were some notes about the rules of the salon.
This must be a new generation type of thing where you send your children into a building with strangers. Just like you have to shampoo and condition your own hair before you go to the salon.
