The fact that I can take a class at any time is extremely convenient. You book your class through the app and it does show you if someone else is already booked. Three people can fit into each sauna so you could potentially get the sauna to yourself. I think most people don't book if they see someone is already in a sauna. I've always been by myself which is nice. The place is always super clean. I've never had any sound, light or heat issues with any of the saunas. The small free weight area is always clean and organized. The place isn't always staffed but when it is the workers have always been really friendly. It's $79 a month for me but my membership only allows me to workout at this location. I didn't opt into the other one because this is the most convenient for me. Overall this place has what I need and I'll continue to go here for my workouts!

I have been attending this gym for a few months now and I will say outright that if there was an…read moreoption to give additional stars I would give this place 10/ 5 stars. I have been an athlete for 17 years, and I have been working with coaches and trainers for the majority of my life. I can confidently say that this gym, it's staff, and the clients that it attracts are truly exceptional. It is so refreshing to find a gym that promotes the union of functional movement, strength, and playfulness. In the current fitness scene, I have found there to be an unsustainable focus on repetition instead of form and pain instead of play. I had been trained repeatedly with a one-size-fits-all ideology about technique, but at Bodytribe, the staff embrace the diversity of body types, proportions, and relative strengths that exist in the human form. I have NEVER found a gym that more successfully balanced concentration on form in functional strength training with playful fun and a community that feels like family. The only hiccup in my integration into the gym was it's accessibility; since the website is still being updated, I had to go to the Facebook page to contact the staff to get the updated information and schedule. Since then, I have been working with Kyle Winchell primarily. Kyle is a master in the art of movement. He helped me to understand the individual mechanics of my body in order to best execute powerlifts as well as bodyweight plyometrics. He is dedicated to helping each individual re-wire movement patters to unlock their power potential. My deadlifts and squats have both significantly improved in power and form, my hips have increased mobility, and heck, I am well on my way towards doing legitimate pull-ups instead of kipping my way over the bar. I leave every class satisfied, sweaty, and excited to return. I am relocating to the bay for graduate school soon, and I am going to commute back to Sacramento to continue to study with Kyle at Bodytribe.

Body Tribe changed my body and the way I think about fitness. You can get a pretty good idea of…read moretheir general attitude by checking out their website http://physicalsubculture.com/, but of course everyone has their own unique experience and for me I cannot say enough good things about the style of exercise, philosophy and spirit of this gym. I was a fairly competitive athlete as a youth but after high school for me (and I imagine many young athletes like me), the focus on exercise really became weight loss because I wasn't playing a game or practicing for anything, and had never really been all that outdoorsy or athletic beyond softball. The only reason for me to do something physical became to lose weight / keep weight off. This mentality doesn't really work, or didn't really work for me, and I had not felt like I had my weight under control since high school. I think this mentality is ultimately problematic for a lot of reasons, but I think the biggest reason is that it is unsustainable. You burn out because you are not really enjoying what you are doing, and you are not connecting the physical exertion to anything more than a superficial goal. Body Tribe really changed my mentality and I feel like with the new perspective I have that I will never fall into an inactive rut again. I started going there when my friend Courtney became a training intern. I had been working out at 24 Hour Fitness a lot for about 3 months and had lost about 10 pounds by doing mainly cardio. I was feeling pretty happy with myself because I was being quite diligent and feeling good, even running a couple miles a week, but I knew I needed to step it up a notch. On my first workout at Body Tribe I was blown away by how different it was than any other workout I had done. Crossfit is a lot of plyometrics and activities that feel natural to actually working or doing manual labor. Now, that may not sound completely desirable but ultimately it makes more sense for building strength and working out all aspects of your body, rather than isolating one muscle. When you are done working out, you feel like you actually built something. I believe that "something" is your spirit. Everyone that works there is amazing, and they all have a different style. My body is completely different than it has ever been. I am strong enough to run 5 miles now, and went from a size 12 to a 6, not even losing that much weight but building muscle. More than anything though, I don't look at the gym as a chore anymore. I genuinely enjoy the challenges Body Tribe presents to me. If you have a New Year's Resolution to change your body or maybe your just curious, you should really check them out. They have really reasonable rates and terms, and lots of introductory workshops / new member orientations.

The coaching…read moreis excellent and the workouts push you in a way that leaves you feeling like you accomplished something rather than feeling defeated. The workouts can be scaled to different levels so that you can push yourself when necessary or dial it back if needed to. The culture is very supportive and the workouts are often fun (I have heard it referred to as recess for grown up's). What I like the most about it is that I really just have to show up and not think about what to do. There is a set workout that everyone does for the same class time. For a non gym rat like me that is the golden ticket. The workout is laid out in a very easy to follow format of warmup, stretches, strength, then the main workout (Merton). The workouts vary to keep it interesting and fun plus you get the feeling of that you're in it together with other people. Make no mistake you will work hard and definitely sweat but I promise you that will leave feeling better then when you walked in the door. There is a definite lack of judgement which permeates everywhere. I have had injuries, job changes, and various life events that have kept me from going as often as I would like (or should), but upon coming back to the gym I am always greeted positively rather than scorned. The social aspect of it for me at Aquila is huge, even if it's just saying hi to someone on any given day. Final thought: if you go, definitely take advantage of the coaches' knowledge. I ask them questions often and get their opinions on things all the time. Justin, Travis, and Angie really know their stuff and are happy to share information that might help you out.

You can tell Brian and the staff put a lot of thought into this place. Almost every single piece of equipment is brand new and purchased from a high quality brand like Rogue. The dumbbells, barbell, weight plates and kettlebell I used for the 5pm Tuesday upper body workout seemed to be in immaculate condition. I stupidly didn't use weight clips for a warmup bench set and for the first time in my life actually dropped plates on the floor because they were so smooth on the bar they slid off when I was slightly uneven. Don't be dumb like me! They have some unusual equipment like a couple rolling tank style push sleds for legs. I saw dumbells through 100lbs and enough 45lb plates to max out any standard barbell. Even some large trap bars. Definitely stop by this place and check out a class it's worth the membership. The official launch is coming up soon based on what the trainers told me.
