I went on a Thursday for a boot fitting. Wanted to get boots and use rentals until next season…read more Nick assisted me in measuring my foot and then we went through a few pair to find ones that I liked. I ended up with the Atomic Hawx Prime 100x. They were molded to my foot in store and they are fantastic!! All the while Nick and I were chatting about hiking and skiing, and the conversation was great!! I then stood up and started looking at skis. Nick showed me which ones were good and which to avoid. The Volkl Revolt 95 caught my eye, but they are freestyle skis. Nick told me they are one of the best all-mountain skis he has seen for the price. He has a set and so do a couple other people in the store. He was very reassuring and had a lot of info and there was zero pressure. Looked at a couple of reviews online and the Volkl were the first skis I every bought for myself. Picked the Tyrolia Attack 11 bindings and they got to work setting them up. Kept talking with the staff and the great conversation made time fly by. Picked a helmet and some poles and away I went. The following Monday I went to Blue Mountain. I was nervous but it was great to just pick up my pass and ski, not having to get worn out rental skis. These skis are FANTASTIC. It upped my ability 10 fold. Cut nice, quick when I wanted it and easy to bite in to slow down when Needed it. I had the best day of skiing I've had in my 49 years. I went on trails I would have never went on before. But when It's your gear it is just an extension of yourself. All the years I skied I finally felt like a real skier. Thanks Ski Bum for an amazing day and setting me up with awesome skis and boots. It didn't even hurt when I paid I was so happy. I've lived in South Jersey and Delaware my entire life and always heard the name The Ski Bum. It is now my go to even though I now live an hour away. Even just to stop in and say hi.

Recently found this little gem of a place in Haddonfield, NJ that focuses on girls and women's…read moresports. Stopped in because we were going to be down in the area anyway and my daughter needed a new field hockey stick-and had a great experience. The owner was there to help us out and we were able to spend quality time with her to determine the best stick for my daughter. We were there about an hour and never once did we get the 'upsell' for a more expensive stick...she took her time with my daughter and, like Olivander in Harry Potter, let the stick choose the girl! We were also able to pick up additional items and were given a discount for what seemed like no other reason than she was an amazing person who really cares about girls and women's sports. The only unfortunate thing for us is that her place is SO far out of our way it would be difficult to make this a regular shopping site for us. My sales pitch??? If you live anywhere near Haddonfield, NJ and need sports gear/apparel for your field hockey, lacrosse, soccer or basketball playing daughter-this is the spot!
