They were transparent with what kind of work needed to get done, basically. We bought both of our kids' bikes here. They are pretty nice bikes. One outgrew her kiddie bike and the other still needs training wheels. Prices were fair to market value plus we liked their selections. Just to clarify. The tune ups and the purchases for the bikes were separate occasions. Different teammates helped us but same excellent service. They also carry snowboarding/skiing gear and have off season sales! I ended up with the Atomic Hawx Prime 100x. They were molded to my foot in store and they are fantastic!! All the while Nick and I were chatting about hiking and skiing, and the conversation was great!! I then stood up and started looking at skis. Nick showed me which ones were good and which to avoid. The Volkl Revolt 95 caught my eye, but they are freestyle skis. Nick told me they are one of the best all-mountain skis he has seen for the price. He has a set and so do a couple other people in the store. He was very reassuring and had a lot of info and there was zero pressure. Looked at a couple of reviews online and the Volkl were the first skis I every bought for myself. Picked the Tyrolia Attack 11 bindings and they got to work setting them up. Kept talking with the staff and the great conversation made time fly by. Picked a helmet and some poles and away I went. The following Monday I went to Blue Mountain. I was nervous but it was great to just pick up my pass and ski, not having to get worn out rental skis. These skis are FANTASTIC. It upped my ability 10 fold. Cut nice, quick when I wanted it and easy to bite in to slow down when Needed it. I had the best day of skiing I've had in my 49 years. I went on trails I would have never went on before. But when It's your gear it is just an extension of yourself. All the years I skied I finally felt like a real skier. Thanks Ski Bum for an amazing day and setting me up with awesome skis and boots. It didn't even hurt when I paid I was so happy. I've lived in South Jersey and Delaware my entire life and always heard the name The Ski Bum. It is now my go to even though I now live an hour away. When I called ahead, the employee I spoke with couldn't answer my questions without repeatedly asking a colleague. They charge about $45 to mount the bindings (discounted from $115), even though both the skis and bindings were purchased there. In my experience, most shops mount bindings for free when both items are bought from them. The skis also had to be sent out (understandable) but then I would be paying for a service and unable to ski for about a week or so. I went to Blue Mountain and found their services to be cheaper and faster. The employees were friendly and knowledgeable--unlike my experience at Buckman's. I'll be going there from now on.

I let this slide since I only go once or twice a year. But since I am going on a three day ski trip this year I figured I owed it to my feet to get some work done on my boots. Even after many years the staff at Ski Bum still punched out my boots for me free of charge because all of their boots are sold with a fit guarantee! (You definitely won't get this type of service if you shop online for boots!) They do not work on your boots straight away so bring them in a week before your next ski trip.
