My car (2013 VW Golf) was having a transmission problem that only appeared on long drives, and I'd…read morebrought it to 3 different places before bringing it here- 2 dealerships and one independent mechanic. Everyone previously would charge me over $200 for a diagnostic, find nothing, and state that they drove it around the block and didn't see any problems (duh). So I'd accepted it would never be fixed. Fast forward to now, it became an unavoidable issue so I reached out to multiple places to describe the issue and get some opinions. Jack was very responsive and immediately had a recommendation before even looking at my car. I brought it in for a $155 diagnostic, and if they couldn't fix it I wouldn't be charged. Unlike other places, they drove my car over 100 miles to try to replicate the issue! Although they still couldn't replicate it, they looked into my vehicle's service history and walked me through their recommendations. We went with Jack's original recommendation, there was a fast turnaround, and my car now been fine. He was spot-on before even looking at my car. I was super impressed and had a great experience here! Thanks to everyone at Fremont Auto :)

I made an appointment with Fremont Auto Center online through their website, unaware that they…read moreshared a garage with three other repair shops. I had a terrible time with the gentleman who owned the shop in front of theirs, who lied and told me I was in the right place, which wasn't corrected until I called Fremont Auto Center looking for an update. Jack personally went next door to check on my car, and offered me 10% off repairs. I was told I could drop my car off the next day without needing another appointment. I met Sal, who has such a wonderful and charming personality, and it was great to meet Jack in person, too. Within an hour, I had the full analysis and estimate, and around 2:30, a couple of hours before closed, I was called and told the car wouldn't be finished, and asked if I'd like to come pick it up for the weekend (which I declined, we didn't need it!). The prices were fair, and their system of telling you what absolutely needs work versus what they recommend to be worked on was so great in helping me understand what was wrong with the car. My experience with them made me tell my husband that I'd drive to them if we ever moved out of the area. I can't recommend this place enough (just make sure you drive all the way to the green building and dont let anyone stop you like I did!)

The best place to get your car fixed, they are the best in the area! My niece car had a puncture…read moreand no one in the area would fix it but they did for a reasonable price. Really great service and place to take your car

BEWARE -- DO NOT GO HERE!!…read more Horrible customer service, questionable diagnosis, and a very disappointing experience from start to finish. We took our work van to Stress Free Auto Care after finding them on Yelp. They were close to home and, more importantly, veteran-owned. As a company that supports veteran nonprofits, we were excited to support another veteran-owned business--even though their pricing was higher than other shops we considered. Our van had been having issues starting and randomly shutting off. They quickly diagnosed it and sent us an estimate for around $1,200, which we approved. We were told it would be ready by the end of the day and picked it up the following morning. The very next day, the van broke down multiple times on the freeway, nearly causing accidents. This was extremely dangerous and terrifying. We immediately contacted the shop and were told to bring it back. We had to leave the van at a jobsite and figure out how to get it back to San Jose, which created even more stress and disruption to our business. We dropped it off in the morning and heard nothing all day. The next morning, we had to follow up ourselves, only to be told they were still running diagnostics. We were then told there was now another issue that would cost even more to repair. If the original diagnosis was incorrect, I expected the shop to take some responsibility and offer a reasonable solution. Instead, the resolution offered was a "free" diagnostic--which is essentially already credited toward service anyway. There was no real effort to make things right, no empathy for the situation, and no meaningful resolution. We were basically told we could come pick up the van. Business owner to business owner: this is not how you take care of customers. When a customer spends over $1,200 based on your diagnosis and their vehicle breaks down immediately afterward, leaving them with a dangerous, non-operational work vehicle, you should be doing everything possible to make it right. This entire experience has been incredibly STRESSFUL. STRESS FREE AUTO CARE?! Yeah, right. Take your business elsewhere.
