This review is long overdue. My car broke down on the way from Sacramento to the Bay area about a month ago. I had my car towed from my location to the nearest repair shop I could find which ended up being at Fremont Auto Center and boy did I luck out on my experience. The guys here were very kind and courteous and upfront with me about the damages and what I should do. Due to how quick they were to give me the diagnosis (there was some type of explosion in the engine that left a 6-inch hole, reason for the explosion still unknown) and the transparency on cost and time to repair (I live in Sacramento at the moment) I knew I wouldn't make it back home in time for work and the cost to repair was more than what I had paid for the car used a few years back. I decided to purchase a new car while dealing with the stressful process they helped me the whole way in the process of donating my old Nissan. This was a huge relief from my shoulders and they can be sure that If I ever move back to the bay area they will be my go-to auto repair center. read more

I gave them a call and Saul said, just bring your car over for a quick scan to see if anything we need to take care of, and upon the quick scan, we scheduled an actual appointment the next day. Everything went very smoothly, Saul is friendly and professional! I was able to get everything checked and serviced all within a few hours. The best thing about the service they provide is everything is pretty much online and notifications will be sent to your email/phone to let you know the latest status (appointments, estimates, results, ready to pick up, payment). Had a very easy, professional, and efficient service with Fremont Auto Center to get my 2005 Mercedes looked at and fixed. They definitely have their act together. I was searching for a place that may be able to diagnose and ensure that I needed to fix my car's battery and water pump. I used Yelp to try to find such place and Fremont Auto Center's glowing reviews just pulled me in. It also wasn't too shabby that it was relatively close, so I gave them a call. Sal is a hoot! I like someone who can be straight forward with no gimmicks or BS as well as joke around a bit but you know he knows his stuff. I asked for a price quote for a replacement battery online and he was able to give me a range, but I needed to figure out exact numbers, so he kindly let me know that he could see me the same day to diagnose and give me more concrete numbers. Fremont Auto Center is located off of Mowry relatively close to Mission Blvd. So not really easy to get to from a freeway, but if you're close to Mission Blvd, hey it's close! It's in a building with various other body shops. Parking can be a bit tricky since they do all work on cars, so I just found a spot in front of another car that looked ok to park in front of. Sal was there to greet us. He took a look at my car and said that the car's battery is definitely in need of a change, but found no issue with my water pump as of yet, so I shouldn't worry about it. He was very upfront of the price he quoted. Apparently MINI just has a lot of hoops when it comes to batteries. This is why I'm one step away from selling it... Although I ended up not going to Sal for my battery replacement, I ended up going with the dealership since luckily I found a coupon/deal the same day for ~$100 less (a rarity when it comes to dealership work!). I was really impressed in how much care and knowledge he was sharing with us and you knew he really loved cars. I know I'll need to change my water pump pulley at one point and I'm ready to call Sal when that time comes or heck even my next oil change. Definitely give Fremont Auto Center a chance! Martin and the team have been very helpful, patient, professional, and honest and I would like to share my experience to let people know they are truly a hidden gem. Here is what happened - It started with the engine light came on and I went to the first auto repair shop before Fremont Auto Center. The first auto repair shop did a diagnosis and said ALL 3 components need to be replaced and that's $5K. I decided to ask around and my friend recommended Fremont Auto Center so I called them. Martin spent 25 minutes on the phone with me patiently listening to my description and asking follow-up questions. I decided to have them to do diagnosis. The day I arrived, Martin had a error code reader with him and did the diagnosis and then right away he showed me the error codes and after his discussion with the team, they noticed all error messages are mentioning voltage. After all, they were able to only need to replace the battery and have the car fixed and that's a VERY BIG cost saving for me comparing to the other auto repair shop (less than $600 vs. $5K). Also Fremont Auto Center was able to show me a full report with detailed information. I just want to thank Martin and the team for their honesty and willing to dig into the root cause of the issue. I will recommend them to all my friends and definitely go to them for all my car moving forward. Good luck with your car, and definitely have Fremont Auto Center to be on your auto repair shop list. day 1 : my concern is noise when brake from the back and full service , but the noise still there because they changed only front day 2: come again because my car many time turn off and engine light was on ( is it coincidence ?? before come there my car was totally fine) and and they found rear brake need to change ( why you didnt do when 1st time come) , engine light they just reset day 3: come back for engine light on again, they just changed air filter and cabin filter ( wasted money for 3rd time) day 4: engine light still on, they just realized the problem was MAF sensor . ( wasted money for 4th time. my purposed just want to change break but i have to do 2 kind of service that i dont need earlier. and total i spend was $2750 read more

Scammy place. Years ago, I took my car here for a routine oil change. As far as I know, they did the oil change. When finished, they called and tried to up sell me by telling me the steering wheel shook when applying break, which is a classic symptom of warped brake rotor. I insisted that's not happening and refused the service. When I went to pick the car up, the owner told me the mechanist test driven my car on bumpy roads and mistakenly thought that vibrations were from the brake rotor. Which, I read: "you caught me trying to lie to you, let me blame my employee. " About 3 months after that, my service reminder came up. My car's service schedule should be 10k/12mo. They somehow managed to change that to go off every 3k miles. Not sure how they got such high reviews, but my personal experience with them definitely didn't agree with the 5 star reviews. read more

Not happy about their service. One of the windows of my 2005 X3 was stuck halfway and couldn't close. They said they are going to charge $189 to open up and check. I told them the car was old and don't want to spend a fortune on it. I also told them if the regulator needs replacement and if the cost is too high, I just want them to pop the window up, disconnect the wire, etc. They kept the car overnight and told me the following day replacing the regulator was going to be $800. I told them no thanks, just help me close the window and they told me it is going to be $230+. A minute later, they called me back saying that they couldn't do it, but still wanted to charge me $120 for doing nothing which i paid and got my car back. Well, their shop is located in one of the many auto shops. So, I went next door (literally) and got the window fixed (with a new regulator) for $350 + tax on the same day. There are many auto shops next to them, ask around before making your decision. read more

There's definitely a reason why this place is 5 stars and I got to experience it first-hand. The starter on my 2004 Lexus went out while I was working in Fremont. I live in Dublin and was going to be unable to make it home without a starter replacement. It was near lunchtime which is late in the day when it comes to car maintenance. Two other shops even though I explained my situation would not even consider taking a look at my car. The guys at Fremont Auto Center not only took pity on my situation but decided to do the repair for a respectable price This made my month in all honesty.
