What a gem! Brought my dad and boyfriend here, and we had a great meal. My dad ordered the pre fixed menu which came with three courses: cauliflower appetizer, lamb ragu main, and then a panna cotta dessert, and he loved all three dishes. Other highlights that we ordered included the Spanish octopus (so tender with a flavorful sauce) and panna cotta (the caramel sauce and nuts on top complimented the panna cotta perfectly). I think, next time we'd skip out on the chocolate cake as it was very dense and felt a little dry. It felt like the food came out a tad bit slow, but our server was wonderful and took her time to explain the menu and each dish. We were able to get a table for two as walk-ins on a Saturday night, which was amazing. We were able to sit outside on a perfect evening. The ambiance is romantic, yet casual and the service is impressive. Our server Andrew really knew the menu and was able to make excellent suggestions. The courses came out in a timely manner, plates were cleared between courses. We had the grilled octopus, Caesar salad, scallops, crème brûlée and affogato. All dishes were fresh and delicious. Overall amazing experience!! My girlfriend and I dined here the other weekend and we were blown away. Started with the bone marrow...melted in my mouth. Then had the beef bourguignon for our entree. There were so many flavors and paired nicely with our wine...highly recommend. We ended the night with a crème brûlée, can't go wrong with this. Props to the chefs Cameron and Gage!! This little gem just keeps getting better. Went on a recent night for a mom's night out, one of the few places around with cute outdoor seating, complete with a fire pit and bistro lights. The fall menu meatball appetizers were juicy and so packed with flavor, the poached pair and Gorgonzola salad is something special and the braised short ribs over celery root purée was both elegant and hearty. Oh and the pork belly carbonara! Pork was crispy and the pasta was perfection. For dessert, the butter cake, with a twist of little fig nugget bites. Came here last Saturday night for a birthday dinner with a friend. We didn't have reservations but were seated immediately. The server was courteous and in addition to the regular menu presented a special menu offered 5-7 course meal. We opted for the regular menu. We each ordered a cocktail, side of house bread w/ fig butter, and two entrees, braised short ribs and Chilean sea bass. The drinks came out promptly, the bread came out about 15mins later, and then our entrees came out over an hour later. I almost walked out at the hour marker but decided to exercise a little more patience after the server assured us the food would be out shortly. When the entrees were served we jumped in right away. To say that I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. The braised ribs while perfectly cooked, lacked any seasoning at all. It was a bland piece of meat. The celery root puree, I'm embarrassed for the chef, tasted like dirty socks. That's not hyperbole. It had a foul taste also lacking in salt/seasoning. I've made braised short ribs many times and the flavors are always dynamite so this was extremely disappointing. The Chilean sea bass came in a broth with roasted cherry tomatoes and potato fingerlings. Again, the broth, fish, and potatoes had no salt, no seasoning. The roasted cherry tomatoes were decent. Every restaurant has it's off nights but this was beyond disappointing especially being my birthday. The server comp'd us a dessert but I won't be coming back here again. It was a very expensive meal which in hindsight we shouldn't have paid for. read more

I am writing this because I have been waiting for Anthony F's tirade. He threatened it as he left the restaurant. So here is my version, I had the pleasure of dining at FIG@313 the same evening as Anthony F--and was actually seated at the table right next to him. After reading his review, I feel compelled to offer a different perspective. While I can't speak to the exact doneness of his pork, I can speak to his behavior, which was an embarrassment to every patron present. There's a way to express dissatisfaction with a meal--and Anthony missed the mark completely. The servers remained professional and kind throughout, and the owner went out of his way to de-escalate and accommodate Anthony's concerns. To suggest that the owner "placed his hands on him" is, quite frankly, a mischaracterization. I witnessed the interaction--he gently placed a hand on Anthony's shoulder in a clear gesture of empathy and goodwill. Anthony may not have enjoyed his dish, but involving the entire restaurant in his outburst was unnecessary. Ironically, his dining companions didn't seem to share his disappointment--they left with three to-go boxes. As for us, our experience was wonderful. The food was superb, (we also had the pork and it was fabulous) the ambiance warm and welcoming, and our server Michael was outstanding. Thank you, FIG@313, for a lovely evening. my sister and her fiancé were in town so my husband and I treated them to a dinner at fig 313. The ambience is outstanding feel like in a fairytale or in a little restaurant in Carmel or some other charming place that you would normally go for vacation. The service was excellent. Eric took care of us and even shared some of his personal teabags from his mother with us. When we requested hot tea. We were delighted by the fig old-fashioned that were served in a beautiful decanter for two. The menu was everyone to choose a favorite and all four of us found our meals. Delicious! Food was below average, service was extremely poor, owner was very inappropriate on his behavior. They served me raw pork! You as the business owner decided to respond, and obviously have zero self awareness on the way you operate. This is quite embarrassing for you, but the pork was nowhere near 140, and the service beforehand was terrible. Also I ate maybe two potatoes off that disgusting dish, so nice try there. The owner is fortunate I didn't escalate further as he placed his hands on me. The pork was raw, the service horrible, and my other posts on your restaurant are receiving similar reviews. You should be ashamed you still can't take responsibility on your mistake. Also the meatball app was terrible as well and the other dinners marginal at best. I've been a San Clemente resident for the past 10 years (and counting), and I'm kicking myself for not having tried this place way back when! What a pleasant dining experience we had at this cozy and intimate resto, which also happens to be a historical SC landmark (great read on their website btw!). We arrived for a 5:30pm reservation, greeted with a beautiful smile (instant plus points right there!) and were promptly seated. They have ample seating outside (with heat lamps), but we had opted to sit inside. Adam was our awesome server who took excellent care of our small party of 3! Everything on their "winter menu" was tempting, so we decided to do family style and ordered a bunch of items from the menu to share. Our drink orders came out fast and filled to the brim (Yesss! Thank you, bartender!). Tried their Passion flower, Mission Mule, and a Fig Old Fashion! Super cool seeing the huge glass jar of fig infused whiskey, which they use for that drink. Our food order came out all together, which we wanted. Started with the Poached Pear Salad, and a side of scallops (great recommendations, thanks Adam!). Had to try their special that night...Wagyu Hanger (medium rare, please), which was perfectly prepared (Thank you, chef!). Also tried the trout, which normally is not my first choice of fish, but the chef did wonders and it tasted delicious! Also had to try the octopus, which was super tender, well-seasoned, and perfectly grilled. Our bellies were full and happy, but we couldn't leave without having dessert. The best fine dining in San Clemente (come at me, bro). Humor aside, this restaurant is a treat, all excellent fare while also equal parts casual and elegant. Service here is top notch; caring attentive, quick, helpful, knowledgeable, and a delight to have helping your evening. Chef and his kitchen make excellent dishes, superbly crafted (and another rarity - they're perfectly described on the menu). We've been parties small and large, many times, and when we're asked for the recommendations to the perfect, southern California fine dining experience in San Clemente, Fig313 is at the top of our list. Our recommendations: work with Adam, and ask him to pair wines with your dish. He will ask a number of questions, all to land on the best wine with any dish they're serving. And their wine list is very nice (as are their ports wines and cocktails). Sit outside during times of good weather. Enjoy yourself for an hour or so. read more

We were looking for a great place to eat at San Clemente and we found Fig 313. The food was incredible. We had everything from the octopus, bone marrow, olive and fig, short rib, scallops, fillet and pasta carbonara. The service was exceptional! Dinner for 2 on Thursday night, first time trying Fig 313 and we had a very good experience. We started with octopus which was good (maybe a bit overwhelmed by sauce), the bone marrow was excellent and perfectly seasoned with a nice herb blend. Entrees were short rib and stuffed chicken which were both excellent with very well balanced seasoning. Previous comments regarding service issues were not experienced by us. Our server Mike was great and very attentive. I'm sure weekends are busy but Thursday the service and pacing of the meal was perfect. As others have noted the space is very nice and they have plenty of heaters to allow you to enjoy the intimate outdoor seating, which we did. With so many options in San Clemente for dining I think Fig 313 should definitely be on your list to try as it is one of the better meals we have had in town recently.
