Mary's Half Chicken and Miso Glazed Halibut

Excellent food and attentive staff. The architecture of the building is lovely and there is a great view. We had the Mary's half chicken and the miso glazed halibut. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious.

My family have eaten at Fifty44 many times over the last couple of years and we are always extremely satisfied! Chef Brooke is amazing and changes the menu seasonally. The flavor combinations are sooooo good! The deck is the perfect place to unwind your day, take in the beautiful views and listen to live music (on Fridays, in peak season). Outstanding food - check Stunning views - check Friendly people - check Family time - check We always leave Nakoma with full bellies and a happy heart.

    Short rib ragu.

We started off with the bison carpaccio and Chilean sea bass ceviche and then my wife had the half chicken with lemon and thyme and I had the short rib ragu and all were absolutely delicious. Then she had the orange and lavender creme brule for dessert while I had the chocolate mousse cake. Again, amazing! And the highlight was our server, Emma. She was such sweet, genuine person that she really made our experience great. Can't wait to come back again!

Came for a Sunday night dinner, great food, service and best views in the sierras! We got the clams, short rib ragu, elk, and cobbler and enjoyed them all.

Short getaway from Reno to this little gem of a place (well Nakoma Lodge... which i can't seem to find on Yelp but I found the restaurant we ate at so here goes a little of both). The lodge where we stayed is across the street and down the hill from the restaurant and bar. The spa and pro shop are also in the same building as the restaurant. The view out back is awesome. Has a nice size deck with seating in the warmer months. You can see the golf course and abundance of trees, if you like that sort of thing. I'm no tree hugger, but I like this view of trees. So pretty, see accompanying photos. The bar area is comfortable. There is a couch and chairs along with a nice clean bar, friendly bartender Frank. I ordered wine and my mansicle ordered a coke because he was driving, and Frank gave that to us on the house, which was a nice touch. We then went into the dining room which is open to a giant fireplace in the middle, it's definitely a Native American feel and the natural rocks and wood are very pretty. Dinner itself was good, but we were disappointed with the appetizer we chose, which was the calamari. I felt like I couldn't taste the calamari at all, that it was solely the breading on the outside. It did come mixed with red and green bell peppers that were also breaded. For dinner, I ordered the half chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies. The size of this meal was double what I could eat. It wasn't the best thing ever, but i felt like it was definitely above average for the price and size. Mansicle got stuffed pork loin with fennel, onions, spinach and topped with feta cheese, happened to have the same sides as me. He liked it. He is a man of few words. He also had leftovers and he is 6/3 240 pounds so he can eat. We decided to order dessert, even though we didn't really have room, but there was a creme brûlée trio on the menu that we could not pass up. It came in three small but deep dishes in flavors of peach, strawberry and vanilla. Vanilla and peach were along the lines of some of the best creme brûlée Ive ever had (which is a lot because it's our favorite) I could have lived without the strawberry, but we still finished that anyway. Overall satisfied with the restaurant and surroundings and we will return. The service was attentive and our water glasses were filled as soon as they appeared anyone had drank out of them. Granted there were only a couple other couples in the restaurant, as it was a Wednesday night. The lodge is cozy, very nice rooms, continental breakfast. I wouldn't go as far as to say I would pay full price for a room though cause they are pricey in peak season.

We appreciate the new owners for keeping the restaurant very much like Chris and Randi left it. It still has the home town vibe, great food, fair pricing and l look forward to a summer full of great food and fun times.

Solid choice for dinner if you find yourself in the Portola/Blairsden/Graeagle area. I met a couple…read morehigh school friends to catch up a little bit. I've only been here a few times since I now live out of town... but every time I visit, I appreciate the interior - I really like the look! We started with spinach / artichoke dip as an appetizer... thumbs up all around the table on that one. There are actually several appetizers on the menu that look good - it's always tough for me to choose - but if you just wanted to drop by for a happy hour nibble, I'd say most people would be covered. It'd be fair to say that apps are one of their strengths. I had a caesar salad, and it was good! Pretty standard caesar, but I'm amazed that many restaurants manage to screw it up by drowning it in dressing or whatever. None of the common mistakes here - nice fresh, crisp lettuce... good dressing and imo the right amount - not too heavy, not too light. Just right. One of my friends had the Chicken Parm and the other had Shrimp Scampi - both reported goodness! The dishes looked great, but I behaved this time and kept my fork to myself. I had the salmon - one of my "go to" dishes - and it was good as well. Yes... we had dessert! There were several good options, but we decided to share the cookie "mess". Good balance with all ingredients... and for something described as a "mess," it was plated quite well! Definitely high on my list of possibilities when I'm in the area!
