5/3rd owns Mercury/Vantiv, so...
UPDATE: Vantive/5/3rd had now taken $295 from my business checking account as an early termination fee (the term box is empty and there is no language in the contract about a term or an early termination fee. A 3-year term would have been a non-starter for me. And the tone of their email is cocky.)
I wish there were negative stars. I HATE, HATE, HATE Vantiv. Vantiv is horrible. It is glitchy, mostly it freezes and you have to reboot everything. Vantiv blames it on LightSpeed, but the same issue doesn't occur using Cayan and LighSpeed, so it has to be a Vantiv issue. When they call you, say no thanks, I've read your 1 Star reviews. Their sales force is relentless. Tyler Storie, a sales person at Vantiv/Mercury would not leave me a lone. I finally acquiesced and talked to him and agreed to change from Cayan to Vantiv because of their great rates. From the moment we set up the Vantiv credit card processing equipment, our POS started to freeze and we weren't able to process transactions. We called their customer service number for help and stayed on hold with no help while customers who couldn't wait left (that is revenue I'll never get back). We couldn't figure out a work around with a line full of customers and no help from Vantiv's customer service because we were still on hold so we decided our best move was to reinstall our Cayan equipment, and everything worked beautifully after that. Thank goodness we hadn't cancelled Cayan or sent anything back yet (always wait a few days to make sure all is working well). I called Vantiv to tell them I wanted to cancel my account and was escalated to someone who said I have a 3 year contract (I was told there was no contract by Mr. Storie and am not finding any term language in my agreement, a 3-year contract would have been a non-starter for me when Mr Storie started calling me every week for months.) She then came up with a few hundred dollar price I could pay to get out of the contract. I find this absolutely ridiculous. If their equipment freezes up and they don't understand that in retail sales every customer is critical right now (they don't want to wait 30 minutes or longer for a technical issue to be resolved especially when they know we aren't being helped, we are waiting on hold) and they can't even get out of the gate with a new customer, it is their failure, not mine for not wanting to now spend the time with someone in customer service who is now willing to dedicate time to resolving the issue. Where was this help when I needed it? They say I didn't try hard enough to get help. Vantiv is a horrible company with horrible customer service.
I just received a statement from Vantiv since I've cancelled my account and they are charging me a CHARGEBACK FEE of $7.50, a couple of other small fees and a VISA MISUSE FEE of 9 cents. I know this is nickel and dime stuff, but I have NEVER in my 4 years as a merchant had a chargeback, and for them to charge me a chargeback fee when I never ran anything through them because I could not get the customer service to help me with my issues when we were trying to get set up and then to charge me a misuse fee, what the HECK!! read more
