    I am disappointed with my experience at Huntington…read more I opened an account online, via an Instagram link, with a promise of a $400 checking bonus after receiving at least $500 per month in direct deposits over 90 days. After I opened the account, I never received any confirmation that the offer code had been applied. I called several Huntington branches to ensure the code had been applied correctly, and finally, one answered. The lady told me there was not a way for them to check if the offer code had been applied, and that I just had to wait and see if the bonus showed up after 90 days. She said a banker would call me back, but I did not receive a call back. I then stopped into my local branch a few days later, and asked a banker if the offer code had been applied correctly. He assured me it was applied correctly and that I would, in fact, receive my bonus offer. After 3 months of successfully depositing $1,000 per month in direct deposits, I never received my $400 bonus offer. I called customer service this time. They tell me an offer code was never applied to my account. So why couldn't any of the branch employees tell me that in the beginning? I then cancel my direct deposit and transfer my remaining funds out of the account. Then, a few days later, I notice my account is overdrawn. I received a $10 monthly service charge due to not having an active direct deposit. I went to another local branch to see if after all the trouble I'd been through with the account, they could waive it for me. I planned on closing the account anyway. The lady working told me she could only reverse the fee if it were an error she made, not a mistake someone else made. So, I ended up paying the fee and closing the account. The entire experience was a waste of my time. I am a banker at 53, and I am appalled at the lack of knowledge the branch representatives have at Huntington. At 53, fee reversals are given graciously, and bankers are trained to look up if offer codes have been applied correctly or not.
