This is a small non descript mexican place with lots of parking lots. We were attended to the moment we entered and seated. The place is homely and small. Hubby ordered a combination plate and I ordered pescado renello. Mine was essentially fish stuffed with seafood and vegetables breaded and fried. I have to mention that it was super super fresh. The chips we received were definitely made in house. Crispy and delicious. My pescado. It was delicious. I'm not sure I'd be able to find it anywhere else. While we were greeted immediately when we walked in, it went downhill from there. When asked if we would like something to drink we asked if they had margaritas and we're told yes we each ordered a margarita. A little while later, my friend asked if we could each have another shot of tequila because we couldn't taste any in the margarita. The server brought out a bottle of something and poured a healthy dose into our glasses. We ordered our food and sipped our margaritas. They were not good. Our food arrived. I ordered the shrimp stuffed with crab wrapped in bacon. The menu states it's crab with a C it's not it's fake crab and very little of it but the shrimp we're good. My friend had the tamales they were OK when our server returned to give us our check my friend said that the margaritas were not good. We had not touched them. She offered to take them off the bill and I asked what kind of tequila it was. We were then informed that it was agave not real tequila. She took the drinks came back with our check and said she gave us a discount on the margaritas. We should have told her we didn't like agave. Nowhere on the menu our beverages listed when we asked about the margaritas she said they had three flavors. She did not mention it being agave. She had quite a nasty attitude that we didn't like them. She charged us four dollars for the margaritas instead of 12, definitely one and done. read more

This is close to our house, and a sure value for a good meal. Extraordinary it is not, but consistent quality at an affordable price is a good way to stay in business. We have been going there for 8 years now, went through the pandemic and the space downsize, and we still enjoy it when we want our quick Mexican food fix without the drive and complexity. They have a dish though that I really like and that I have not seen on any other menu anywhere: pescado relleno. A crab and shrimp with fished fried in the traditional egg white batter of a chile relleno. The staff is welcoming and friendly, many regulars. My shrimp fajita was absolutely delicious as it looked and smelled. I enjoyed the salsa because it was not too hot spicy for me. The guacamole was super. The shrimp were large and cooked properly. The venue is not fancy and the staff were friendly and attentive. I will definitely dine at Fiesta Mexican again. (this was not my first visit) ... I go to Killer Pizza from Mars every few months, which is a hop skip and jump across from Fiesta Mexican. The drive of 11 miles is worth the trip. My only regret is that I had no leftovers 'cause I ate everything and left stuffed! Yum. read more

This place was good. The menudo had a different flavor to me. But I understand that different parts of Mexico season their menudo differently. It wasn't bad. But I like my menudo to have a stronger broth flavor. The best thing I ate was the TAMAL DE OAXACA! The mole had a good flavor. I love my mole to have a sweeter taste to it. And this tamale had it. I loved it. I would definitely go back and get his tamale. I would love to come back try their other dishes. read more

Not going to lie, I have a bit of a bias against Fiesta Mexicana going into this review. I mean, every review is going to be full of personal bias, it is my own tastes and choices that I'm sharing. But, in this case, there is a bit more in my mind tipping the scales of my personal experience here. First of all, I came here with a large group in the wake of a funeral for my uncle. There were a lot of us there that day, but we had reserved space ahead of time and because it was paid for in advance, the lunch selections were set to just a few items off of their menu. Second, two days after coming here, I contracted COVID and two days later, had passed it on to the rest of my family. Now, I'm not sure if I caught it from someone at the funeral itself or from someone working at this restaurant. But, either way, following a few years of constant mask wearing and careful pandemic isolation, it was bit infuriating to have my toddler daughter contract the disease the day she was first eligible to get herself vaccinated. Also, none of the rest of us were in a huge amount of trouble because of it, having been vaccinated ourselves and only being sick for half a day at most, it's just ... the principal of the thing! Anyway, with that in mind, our trip to Fiesta Mexicana kinda sucked. I had the Chicken Salad (pretty sure I was the only one in our 20+ group that did so). The chicken was warm, but rubbery and tough to eat. It had wilted some of the greens with its heat, making the salad a bit slimy with parts that needed to be avoided. And the ranch dressing on the side really felt like it had come out of a large, lukewarm tub, giving it a stale and unappealing flavor. It was only a shy bit north of barely edible. My wife had a combo plate with both a Chile Relleno and Carne Asada Taco. She enjoyed the relleno, but felt that the carne asada was dry and flavorless. Our son ate it up, though, enjoying meat of any kind. The beans and rice included as sides weren't too bad; a good rendition of how either should be. My mother also enjoyed her relleno, but let me take the tostada from her combo. The meat was watery and bland, oddly flavorless. Still, the shell had a good crunch despite the overly-liquid toppings. Now again, I am a bit biased against Fiesta Mexicana. The somber occasion, the limited menu, the likely scenario that all of the food was pre-cooked for our large group, and the fact that I got sick after coming here more than likely have shaded my overall view. Regardless, it still did little to improve my mood and I'm fairly certain the meal was just ... well, bad in any case. Unfortunately, without much reason to come back this far north to try again, I'm left with a dim 2-star view of this restaurant. read more

Our go-to Mexican joint is Ceja's, but living in Oceanside, we have several other restaurants around us and it was high time that we tried them. Fiesta Mexicana is a small corner family owned Mexican restaurant located in the MarketPlace Del Rio shopping area near Stater Bros grocery and Killer Pizza From Mars. They have ample parking and huge windows so you can see just how busy they are at any given time. They have two doors, but we walked in the door that was open - the main entrance. Today they were quite busy on a Sunday for lunch but we managed to get a table. Chair are padded and they do have booths as well. After ordering we got the complimentary chips & salsa. Their red salsa is OUTSTANDING. We even ordered some to-go after we ate. They also have a much hotter green salsa. We ordered: * Tampiquena de Res * Carne Asada Burrito * Carne Asada Sopes * Horchata * Jamaica * Negra Modelo The bottled Negra Model came with a frosted mug too which was a nice touch. The Tampiquena de Res was essentially a "bistek tampiquena", or carne asada steak, topped with pico. It came with rice & beans, and also a Mole Enchilada. The mole was a little sweet, and the steak was a little more done than I typically like, however both tasted good. The plate also came with fresh and piping hot tortillas. My wife ordered the Carne Asada Sopes and we were surprised that it came with two sopes. She could barely finish one of them. My daughter ordered the burrito with rice & beans. Everyone liked their food. I actually finished my whole plate which is something I rarely do. My only gripe was I asked for a drink menu, but they didn't have one? I asked if they had beer and our server listed the different options. It would be much easier just to look at a menu, so for this I had to dock a star. Maybe our server didn't realize they had a drink menu, I'm not sure. Now I learn they had margaritas too! #ugh Service was excellent. When the salsa was getting low, they instantly put a new bowl on the table. We went through two baskets of chips since the salsa was THAT good. Overall, everything was quite good. My boyfriend ordered a burrito and said no cilantro, he receives his order takes a bite and notices this burrito is loaded with lettuce, tomato, meat and white rice. He goes back to ask the lady at the register why is this burrito different than what the online menu says. The lady at the register proceeds to lecture him on how to order instead of addressing the concern. I try to explain via phone and she was so dismissive, rude and did not allow us to ask the questions. As they are remaking his burrito they proceed to make comments in Spanish about him not ordering right. This is unacceptable! read more

My wife and I have enjoyed this restaurant many times. We've been there enough times to develop our favorites. We were there Oct 15th for dinner. I ordered Beef Burrito with a chicken enchilada. I knew something was off., i didnt get what i ordered before. The beef burrito was simply a fresh tortilla with taco meat. Nothing else. The chicken enchilada was a fresh tortilla with chopped chicken. Nothing else, no sauce, no cheese. When the plate was set down it looked normal. Sauce and melted cheese on everything. But when eating it, it wasn't worth eating. My wife's dish was fine. It was even more disappointing because I hadn't eaten that day. Was busy so just had coffee, so I was looking forward to a good meal. I don't tend to send things back. I'm more of a 1-strike and your out kind of person when it comes to restaurants. The food being very untasty was one thing, but when the runs started a 1/2 hour- 45 minutes later. Fortunately I had just gone to Walmart, so I was able to visit the restroom everytime it was needed before I hit the road. I continued to feel off, but I thought I felt good enough, so I went to work the next morning. I'd been in the restroom several times in the night so figure I was all slicked out. Well, i only lasted at work 2 hours before the fever and chills hit. Fever of 102+, constant chills with sweat pouring off the body. A few times it was so bad that my wife couldn't rouze me. Service was good, everyone was very nice. Unfortunately the food was really mediocre. The guac was bland, we had to add salt at the table and it still wasn't great. The food was so good. We really liked everything on our plates. The chips and salsa came quick and kept flowing. We got the flautas, quesedilla, chille rellano, carne asada, and the shredded chicken burrito. They had huge portions. It's a great value. The carne asada was under seasoned. The beans were okay and their salsas seemed a bit lacking, but everything else was great. Our server checked on us often. If it was fancier inside it would be a 5. I've had the tamale with mole negro, the Mexicana plato that is a chicken enchilada, a Chile rellano and Carne asada. The only thing that wasn't great was the Carne asada as it was over cooked and tough. The margaritas are awesome and very "relaxing". Staff are sweet and attentive. Salsa has a nice burn. Chips crispy. I'm a gringa so I don't know what is authentic but that negro was deep, dark and rich. The tamale and enchilada filled with good amounts of richly flavored meats. Food here was amazing until they started using old guacamole. You can definitely tell the difference. If you get a plate that has nasty guac it ruins the entire dish not like you can just take it off. But if you manage to catch them on a good day the food is divine.
