The pizza was surprisingly good. The kale pizza stood out with lots of garlicky pesto on top. The Fireball was spicier than expected -- the shishito peppers actually gave off quite a bit of heat. The dough is fluffy and the cheesy crust was excellent. Really liked trying Detroit-style pizza for the first time, and it paired well with the drinks. The space itself is very nice -- people come here to work, relax, or just grab a drink and a snack. For Memorial Day, my Pop took my family and me out to Fieldwork Brewing Co. I've passed numerous times since it's in the neighborhood, but this was one of the first times I got to sit and enjoy their offerings! Fieldwork Brewing Co. is a watering hole for Albany and Berkeley folks. Most customers are families or millennials and above couples. It's a dog and kid-friendly place, loud and spacious. The inside is quite big with plenty of room to sit and sip, but it does get noisy. Outside there's a handful of communal benches, which is where we sat! Service by all was kind and courteous. You can order at the bar or through their QR code and they'll deliver it. Customers bus their dishes and glassware. I don't drink beer but the selection was extensive! It would be cool to see a seltzer or cider on the list. For dinner, we shared a Pretzel and I split the Turkey Wrap. I never know what to expect with brewpub food but this was good! The pretzel was salty, thick, and soft inside. Do recommend! I enjoyed my wrap, well-sized and nice pieces of tender turkey. Everything tasted good. I'm a huge fan of Fieldwork Brewing and the work they do with & for the communities that surround their local breweries. I adore the beer, love the neighborhood vibes, and after not being to their location in ages, it seems like have a revamped menu with..drumroll...Detroit-style pizza! As most already know, it's not my most favorable in the pizza hold-up line, but I can say, this is a yummy pie. We ordered the Marg ($19) and shortly after I realized for the next trip, I would love to grab the Kale Caesar and Hot Pretzel. I have a friend who tries to order brewery pretzels from each spot he sips at, and would love to throw this one into the mix. We came after a huge Cal vs. Stanford game where Cal won and the place was vibing. My daughter recommended this place as we are in Berkeley for a wedding. Wow! We really enjoyed this place. It is far enough from campus to not be full of rowdy college kids. They serve Detroit style pizza, salads, and pretzels. Half the fun was reading the descriptions. One of the beers I got (Pulp) describes as "Smells like a Sunday drive through a citrus orchard in the peak of season". Another Cow House describes notes of overpriced chocolate.... The beer got her reviews from the table. I loved the cucumber melon and juniper Fieldwork supertonic. After reminiscing about the 90s Bath and Body Works scent, I took a drink and wow! So nice and refreshing. I really wanted to take some home with me, but alas cooler heads prevailed. The lime and salt was good, but not as delicious as the cucumber. Highly recommend! 10/13/24 Welp, been a while since I dropped by again. As always, a huge array of amazing beers. However, this time I came at night to hang out with a friend, and I do have one complaint this time: EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the ENTIRE packed patio was either a family of Dad (and sometimes Mom) and their kids, or the same 30-50 year old yuppies I'm used to at work. Look, nothing wrong with that. I am what I am complaining of. But man, it's like a computer AI generated every person there--everyone is cookie cutter. Pretty boring. No one is drunk, no one is boisterous, no one is outrageous, and no one is "young"... So, I dunno, kinda boring... Fieldwork Brewing Company is a Berkeley area brewery that Steven and I had earlier this summer. We had the Destination Unkown Imperial and Double New England IPA. This IPA type on this beer experience I actually enjoyed a bit more than previous times recently. The citrus, Grapefruit and juicy flavor features compliment this IPA a lot and there is a clean snap on your palette as well which I have come to enjoy a great deal when it comes to beer and cider drinking. The fact that this IPA is light I can appreciate as well as I continue to embrace lighter bodied beers from the craft beer exploration that Steve and I do. read more

I've been a fan of Fieldwork beers for a while, especially their dank, hazy IPAs with that signature gasoline-like aroma. Unfortunately, my recent visit to the Berkeley location left me with a sour taste--not from the beer, but from the customer service. I walked in looking to grab a four-pack to go and headed straight to the fridge. A staff member--possibly an employee or even one of the owners--was loading cans from a cart. I asked him if he could recommend any dank hazy IPAs. He mumbled something I couldn't catch--maybe "sure"--but didn't actually respond. Instead, he kept unloading box after box into the fridge for about three full minutes, without looking at me, speaking, or giving me any room to actually pick any cans. I stood there waiting, thinking he'd say something once he finished a few--but he never did. When he was done, he simply walked away in silence. The man was ginger-blond, probably around 40, with a beard, moustache, cap, and bermuda-style shorts. To be honest, his whole attitude seemed rushed, impatient, and borderline hostile. He moved around the taproom like customers were in his way, not his reason for being there. At one point, he shouted "last call" from behind the bar and announced that they'd prioritize people ordering "for here" over those just buying cans--while I stood second in line. The whole vibe was jarring. Honestly, with his brusque manner and warehouse-like pace, he seemed more like someone who should be stocking shelves at Home Depot than representing a craft-quality brewery. Thankfully, the person at the register was polite, attentive, and actually listened to my questions. He helped me find a beer in the style I wanted, and that alone salvaged the visit. I love Fieldwork's beers and still think highly of their product, but this experience made me reconsider visiting the Berkeley location again. There's always something to enjoy at Fieldwork's, either it be food or drinks, indoor seating or out, trivia nights or game day viewings - this place is certainly it. The selection of drafts is great - a wide variety. The inside is huge with tons of seating as well as a standing table. Outside has picnic tables with heaters for those colder nights but what I love about the outside seating is their lovely bushes that separates the street from the chill outdoor atmosphere. Great place that gets pretty busy the moment they open up on weekends. They have plenty plenty seating on the inside and outside (table umbrellas available). I appreciate that they have a couple sours and many other beer options that change up and you can get any flight you want. They have food - mainly pizza that you can purchase inside or they have thin crust. I do wish they hade more appetizer options and the pizzas are a little on the expensive side. As with many breweries you can purchase a number of them already packaged or get a growler to go. The tricky thing about this location is the parking - all street parking and not sure what the surrounding facilities are but as the day goes on parking gets much harder. read more

Good place to grab a large variety of beers, and flights. Their flights are not the normal flights you get at a bar. They are actually a decent amount of beer per flight. I would say about 6 ounces per selection. They've got a great selection of IPAs, both hazy and West Coast, as well as a handful of other beers to complement their main courses. Great beers with outrageous funny descriptions! I'm having the "ticket to anywhere" a New Zealand style IPA with flavors of "gas station brand twizzlers, peach purée, grapefruit wedges and a hint of diesel!" Hilarious - but it's a wonderful beer. I enjoyed coming here with coworkers for happy hour on a weekday late afternoon. It was pretty busy for a Wednesday! Service was fast and easy, we ordered through the QR code on the paper on our table and soon after the waitress brought out the items. We shared a pretzel and hummus. I ordered the Staff Favorites Flight and I'm not really a beer person but I liked every single one! Especially the Salted Blueberry and Hot Chocolate. I really like trying different tastings because now I know what I would order next time! Although I might try a completely different tasting next time... Yum! This is definitely somewhere I would take people again. The outdoor seating gets a bit chilly at night. So be sure to bring a coat. I like the super casual vibe at this place. When I visited Fieldwork, I was a bit nervous when I arrived due to the fact that the brewery was packed on a Saturday evening; I'm used to ordering at the counter and then trying to find a place to sit. The ordering process turned out to be easy and efficient: I just had to scan a QR code at my table, place an order from the online menu, and the server would know exactly where to find me. The beverage menu was quite long, and all of the options sounded really good. There was also an option to order a full or half glass, which was convenient because I wanted to try something new. Even though the place was packed, the server brought out my drink in about 10 minutes. I ordered the Saint Thomas OG, which was crisp, lightly fruity, and refreshing. The beer paired well with the pizza we ordered, which is served fresh from the oven. I enjoyed my first visit to Fieldwork, and I would want to come back on a quieter afternoon to see what the brewery is like on a more typical day. read more

A woman at the counter steered me right with the choice of an oat stout (Dark Night?). It was a 50/50 chance since they only offered 2 dark beers. IPA not so great for many of us one we hit 40's. I'm a fan of this brewery. I came with my family & friends yesterday evening around 4:45pm and enjoyed over pizza and beer. First off, yes, this is a family friendly brewery; we brought our baby boy and there were like 7 babies everywhere at the patio. We had a good time sipping different flights and trying different beers. My favorites were the Space Maze IPA, Salted Watermelon, and Velvet Twilight. Their beers are delicious and tastes even better when you're enjoying with good company. I highly recommend coming to the days Citizen Pizza is here because they make incredible personal pizzas. The ingredients are fresh and the choice of toppings/creations are on point with unique creations. Just FYI, they serve only a pretzel and hot dog at this brewery so prepare for limited options on food. I would definitely come back again! I thoroughly enjoyed this place. read more

I'm not a beer drinker, so I don't spend much time at breweries. I have been in the neighborhood -- just down the block, really -- quite a few times, but today was my first time at Fieldwork. A friend of mine invited a bunch of us to celebrate her birthday with her, and her original outdoor plan fell through because of the weather. Fieldwork has a fun atmosphere. We sat at a long table and in addition to drinking, eating, and hanging out and talking, a handful of us spent the last hour or so playing Codenames. One person ordered a flight of six beers, others selected individual beers, and one or two people went with artisanal sodas. Patrons can either order up at the bar or scan the QR code at the table to have their food and drinks brought over. Fieldwork partners with Citizen Pizza, which sets up right outside. The pie my friend ordered and shared was tasty. It's a pretty small complaint, but there are no mirrors in the restroom. I could see that being an issue if you're on a date/trying to impress someone and want to make sure you don't have food in your teeth. I'm not sure when I'll be back, but if you like beer and are in Berkeley, Fieldwork is worth a try! read more

I've come twice in the past 4 weeks, and both times there's a line to the door and one guy taking orders/working the register. Tonight those in line were annoyed. Finally another employee came out, but it took a long while. Maybe I noticed this because whenever I go to fieldwork in San Leandro, they have amazing service.
