I think curry chicken
Joannie B.

Came here for lunch when I was employed and the food is really good. The flavors are not overpowering and very subtle but still tasty. Portion is really good as well. Service is great. And the drinks are good. Some seating space and decent price. I was happy they had sorrel and pineapple ginger drink, which I am familiar with. I really liked the fish. And the sauces. I also tried the salmon and curry chicken. It's great for a healthy balanced meal.

Crab Pockets ($9.35) - Blue Crab, Garlic, Garlic Herb Cream Cheese, Sweet & Sour Sauce

I was pleasantly surprised by the delivery food of Fieldtrip - I ordered the Crispy Fish ($12.45) - Market Fish, Herbed Rice, Wok Veggies, Tartar Sauce, Pickled Red Onions and the Crab Pockets ($9.35) - Blue Crab, Garlic, Garlic Herb Cream Cheese, Sweet & Sour Sauce. For delivery I usually expect fried items to be a bit soggy, but the fish was actually crispy with a cornmeal covered batter. The portions were a bit small but I was okay with that. The crab pockets had more crab than cream cheese, which I expected it to be the other way around and you could actually taste the crab. Overall I liked the food from Fieldtrip and would order again!

Not every place in the plaza has seats, and this was one of them even though there were very limited seats. When it's busy time you basically have to wait for someone to leave. This place seems to emphasize the different kinds of rice used in each bowl, which is pretty cool! There's a kick in the roast chicken meal from the jollof rice which makes it a little spicy but not really "spicy". I prefer the crispy fish bowl more with the herbed rice, the kick and the wok veggies weren't really for me. It's not the veggies I'm used to, a little more seasoned and soggy than I expected. It was a busy time of day, so the cleanliness of the restaurant wasn't very tidy as well. As customers left the tables, they were still dirty and trash was still on the tables.

I was pleasantly surprised. I had the roasted chicken bowl. It was good. The rice was kinda mushy. Overall not bad. Not too salty, not too sweet.

Located deep in rockerfellwr center I expected something spectacular. Sadly it was a rice bowl. I tried the crab fried things but it was mid. They had none of their fresh drink options available. The food came out fast but it was a little bland. Service was nonexistent. My suggestion would be to put in an online order kiosk so the staff wouldn't make the customers feel unwelcome when bothering them with an order.

In Kind gives you $25 when you spend $50 for signing up , and I get $25 too! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

AMBIANCE: Field trip was hard to find but in a fun way. Its located in Rockefeller Center. That doesn't mean much to folks like me from NC. So let me help you since no one helped us: You have to go into the Rockefeller Center building and go DOWN a flight of stairs. There are several eateries and shops down there...think a step up from a Food Court. It's kinda got a mall vibe. FT has a few tables, probably room for maybe 20. All the chairs are hard so they don't plan for you to stay awhile. 1 booth. It was pretty clean. Didn't go to the restrooms so I have no comment on that. Ranking: 3/5 FOOD: So the James Beard Award winning chef and being Black-owned as well as the InKind app got me to seek this place out. I'm happy to support. However, I likely won't be back. The chick pea curry looked good but I couldn't taste the curry. Every Indian restaurant is safe with that curry. It was like one of those curry dishes in the refrigerated section of Costco. That's how tasteless. My husband liked the eggrolls. The wontons were supposed to be filled with crab. We had 10 and if we'd been blindfolded we never could have told you that crab was in there. The Ginger Lemonade was good, and I was glad that you could just get your own refills. Don't get Coke Zero; it comes in a mini size bottle for $4.50. The plaintains and brussel sprouts were hot and tasty. I could get those at a lot of places, so it was a bummer that the main dishes were blah. Ranking: 3/5 Not bad, just not memorable in a good way. However, the portions were generous and the price was very reasonable. SERVICE: I don't know the name of the guy who was the cashier but it is clear that he was bored out of his mind... or maybe stoned. He had no facial expressions. No customer service at all as others described. I didn't think that it would matter to me but it did. He certainly didn't tip the scales in their favor. Maybe move him to the kitchen. No "thank you." No "come back soon." Homey was 'retty to go. Ranking: 2/5 Chef JJ needs to do a quality control surprise visit to get a few things in check. For Sure! Get the InKind app and it will take $25 off of your meal when you spend $50+; I'll get $25 too. There are lots of other places in the city where you can use it too.

Roast Chicken bowl

I want to like this place, but both times I went were a let down. The first time was to pick up dinner on a weekday. I wanted salmon, but they were out of it completely. So both salmon dishes were off the table. The chicken and beef were recommended to me, so I took those bowls home. I've noticed later in looking at others' pics, I never got the pickled onions in my roast chicken bowl. Not sure if I would have liked them anyhow, because boy that avocado sauce was sour. It wasn't spoiled but the taste was not harmonious to the dish, for me anyways. The rice was good, and the chicken was tender boneless dark meat. The beef was soooo salty. My gosh, that just ruined it off the bat. The veggie they add are just greens, which I love greens so I was happy about that, but don't expect an assortment of vegetables in their veggie side. I could've done without the hard stems but they weren't a big deal. The second time I went was a Friday at lunch. It wasn't packed, but they were out of the oxtail egg roll! At this point, I was like come on. I got the crab bites instead and they were very tasty. Overall, great concept. The execution might need some fine tuning. I'm not eager to go back anytime soon but if I'm in the area I'll consider it.

Atlantic Salmon Bowl
Katrina B.

Wow, I do not recommend!! This was the most obvious microwave meal I've ever had in a restaurant, it was ready in 2 minutes and tasted like an oil pool of bland, vaguely off-putting flavors. I got the Atlantic Salmon bowl and would recommend you not do that. An $18 total charge for this was crazy. On the plus side, it was so inspiring it made me reopen Yelp for the first time in a year. The service is great & staff are kind but I would recommend you go elsewhere.

I had such a great experience at FIELDTRIP. The service was so friendly and helpful (I had many questions about the menu) and the food was super tasty! AND the pricing is pretty good, especially compared to other options around Rockefeller. There are so many places to sit in Rockefeller that it's probably not worth sitting inside FIELDTRIP.

Jessica J.

I got the gumbo (the only one on the menu) instead of a bowl because I was craving something hot. The spices they put was a bit odd, but wasn't bad. Overall a good place if you're looking for a quick lunch. This bowl came out to $18.

Braised Beef
Nando F.

The quality of their ingredients seemed good. I just wasn't a great fan of how the ingredients played together this review will be updated should we order from here again. My friend had the gumbo and he said it was good. The fried chicken tasted OK, but too dry. Another friend and I ordered the exact same, the braised beef bowl and a Sid Eid their fried chicken. She had the exact same opinion on both items. Maybe the chicken would have worked out better should I have bought one of their sauces (the cilantro something sounded good) As for their store, it was nicely lit, clean and seemed well organized. Very touristy location (under the ROC)

Very good lunch spot for the area. Wok vegetables are a must, chicken and fried fish bowl is my go to. Yucca chips are also great if you're lucky enough to get them before they're gone !

Salmon Bowl
Edrika G.

OMG! Why isn't Fieldtrip nationwide? Ugh! These bowls were SO good! ...a big KUDOS to Shae for hooking my girlfriend up w/a slight variation to her beef bowl. I had the salmon bowl and was a bit hesitant as I'd never had black rice. ***head blown*** WoW is the most descriptive word I can come up with to relay my feeling. The kale was so fresh, crisp & tasty! The black rice paired nicely with the salmon and sauce that came with the bowl. The peas.............. everything in my bowl was AmAzInG! Let's talk about the tenderness of the beef in the beef bowl. It was falling apart on touch. Yeah, I helped her with her bowl as well. Ha! C'mon folks, hop on board so they can build some chains and bring their business to the DMV. The staff was very friendly, the tables & chairs were a plus after visiting Top of the Rock. A great stop when visiting Rockerfeller Center!

We're three young women in the service industry and still felt completely unwelcome--the hostess told us to find our own seating even though the sign said see hostess. The bartender was rude and uninterested, standing 5 min+ at the bar without even being acknowledged. Another staff member was dismissive when closing us out and rolled her eyes when asked to take cash. The overall vibe felt like we weren't wanted, even though it was only around 11 PM. The DJ was underwhelming and the bathroom was vile. The most pleasant part was the below average $20 drinks. For an expensive, well-known spot, this was a very poor experience. Couldn't pay me to return.

The broccoli was really good for some reason to me. Also tried the truffle mac and cheese which was incredibly rich and tasted great. I've heard "Lunch at The Modern" so many times, one thing I was absolutely going to do during this…read moretrip to NYC was lunch at The Modern, and I'm so glad I did. Located at MoMA, The Modern is a 2 Michelin star restaurant hosting both fine dining, showcasing Chef Thomas Allan's cuisine, and a more casual dining experience in The Bar Room. The restaurant is gorgeous and has a giant glass wall overlooking MoMA's Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, a lovely view. There is an abridged tasting menu of 3 courses, but we opted for the full chef's menu cause we didn't want to miss their signature "eggs on eggs on eggs" and after the supplemental charge, the price was close enough. - Hiramasa and sugar snap peas/crispy ham and cheese--simple and delicious, with the hiramasa being light and fresh and the ham and cheese providing a deeply savory contrast - Chilled lobster, shiso, and green radish--the lobster was cold and sweet but as a personal preference, I don't really enjoy bitter flavors and the slice of lemon under the radish threw it off a bit - Eggs on eggs on eggs--words cannot adequately describe the unctuousness of this dish, it's like eating rich, buttery velvet on a crispy, fluffy log of brioche. As a bonus, they bring you an extra toast to mop up all the tasty bits - Pumpkin seed sourdough and cultured butter--okay I totally didn't know this was meant to be eaten with the next dish so given total lack of self control in the face of pillowy fresh bread and perhaps the smoothest butter on the planet, I may or may not have eaten it all before the trout showed up... they were nice enough to give us more :') - Sea trout with clams and saffron shellfish broth--the fish was cooked to literal perfection and the clam and saffron sauce enhanced everything even more. This fights with the chicken dish for spot #2 in my favorites of this meal - Heritage chicken, provençal asparagus, vin jaune--this reminds me of the stuffed chicken from Per Se and was cooked just as well. The vin jaune sauce was slightly nutty with an incredibly rich flavor and also went well with the bread - Lamb saddle, romanesco, and lemon poached dates--for some reason I thought the chicken was the final savory course and I did not pace myself at all and was so full by this point. The lamb was tender and the date was a wonderful bite though - Wild strawberries and cacao--I can't remember what was all in this but I loved the little wild strawberries as they were like delicious strawberry gummies - Dark chocolate cremeux, meyer lemon, and espresso--delicious with interesting flavors, I haven't had many lemon, chocolate, and coffee combinations - Mignardises of raspberry, lemon coconut, cherry cheesecake--only one I tried was the cherry cheesecake bonbon but my husband ate 'em all so they must've been good lol The MVP of this meal was the melon lemonade mocktail, made with honeydew, jasmine, and pandan. Might be the most perfect drink for me ever made because it was melony with a subtle floral note from the pandan and jasmine, and only lightly sweet and tart, everything I love. Sooooo good! Service was pretty good up until we wanted to pay, and for some reason it became really difficult to find someone to close us out. We waited almost 20 minutes between the mignardises and finally being able to pay, even actively looking around trying to flag someone down. Despite The Modern not being the most innovative of meals, it's easily one of my all time favorites. I definitely prefer food that's executed well over food that's pushing boundaries, and may be back any time I'm in town.

Hands down the best restaurant experience my wife and I have ever had…read more We wanted to treat ourselves for our anniversary, and I had recently watched their Bon Appétit behind-the-scenes video. Their entire operation seemed so incredibly focused, meticulous, and inspiring that we knew we had to try it. We started with the Iberico ham and the hiramasa tart, both incredible. Then came the chilled lobster, which was super fresh and refreshing, served with an amazing sauce that made me want to lick the plate clean. Every dish felt refined without being overly complicated. The service was extraordinary. You can immediately tell the front-of-house team is operating at an extremely high level and is aware of everything happening in the room at all times. At one point, my wife stepped away to use the restroom just as they were about to serve the first course. Without saying a word or making anything awkward, the staff simply looped around a couple of times until she returned. The moment she sat down, they resumed service seamlessly without missing a beat. That level of awareness and professionalism really stood out to us. Next came the rye bread, which was fresh and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, paired with delicious butter. Then we had the sea bass with crab, which was phenomenal and one of my favorite dishes of the night. But the true star of the show for me was the lamb. My wife and I grill lamb racks often, and I genuinely had no idea this level of perfection existed. It was cooked flawlessly, and the sauce was absolutely incredible. If I was not in public, I probably would have been scraping the bone clean :) Big shoutout to one of the staff members, Stephanie, who completely made our night. We were telling her how excited we were to finally visit after watching the Bon Appétit video, and she casually asked if we wanted a tour of the kitchen after dinner. Honestly, I thought she was joking at first. Then she came back after dessert and reminded us. Even after paying the bill, I still thought maybe she was kidding, but then she walked over smiling and said, "Let's go." My wife and I were completely geeked out. Seeing the kitchen in person was surreal. It was exactly like the video: super meticulous, orders being called out and repeated in unison, everyone moving with total precision and purpose. You could see the Omega clock, the Michelin stars on the wall, and just the overall culture of excellence behind everything they do. We were honestly in awe. Thank you again, Stephanie. That experience meant so much to us. Every time we visit a fine dining restaurant for a special occasion, I always wonder whether it will truly live up to the hype. Some completely miss the mark. Some are very good. But none have delivered on every aspect the way The Modern did. This is officially our favorite restaurant in the world.
