Gosh, I wanted this to be better. Arugula salad was fine although dressing was not on the side as requested - ewe blue cheese is salty and an odd grey color but gave a great tang. Calamari was a hard pass - very over cooked and no flavor. Left more than half of it behind. Lemonade was actually water with a lemon in it as a result of an error with the soda gun. Waitress fixed it but Sigh. A beautiful building with a great chocolate shop next door. read more

You're probably not going to eat the best meal of your life here, but it's OK. I went with the Ruben wrap which was kind of a dumb idea on my part. I should've known better. I mean how good can a reuben be on a wrap. It can't compare to a proper one. It's the lazy man's way...It was OK but not great. Their fries on the other hand are superb! My husband had the steak sandwich with chimichurri sauce. He gave it a 3.5 out of 5 and said they could've put more chimichurri sauce on it to give it more flavor. The best dish at our table was a sweet potato, noodle, veggie ginger bowl. Their prices are very reasonable and our waitress was nice and service was good. read more

We have returned to Perth every summer for a number of years and, with the exception of one dining experience at a Mexican eatery, we just seem to gravitate back to Fiddleheads. We love to dine 'al fresco' and the view from their outside tables is most pleasant and the beer and pub fare most enjoyable. Today, however, the meal was a disappointment and hopefully it was just an off day for the kitchen. I and my dinner partner both chose the Chicken Supreme meal. The chicken portion was smaller than I expected but more bothersome was that the chicken in both plates was under cooked. We returned them to the kitchen and they did come back better (however I thought a bit longer in the cooker would have been better still). The cheesy mash tasted fine but if they are going to call it mashed then the potatoes should have been mashed thoroughly- they were not. These must have been returned to the pot to keep them heated because they were warm but definitely not presented as professionally as the first time around. Finally, I suppose our returning the plates at the outset meant the vegetables sat on the plate as they waited for the reheated chicken. I thought they should have been hot. Also found some of the carrots too firm. This is a great place and we will no doubt return. I will stick to the more traditional handhelds and avoid the entrées in the future. read more

We asked the front desk dude at the Best Western across the street where he would suggest we go for an afternoon pint and a snack. He suggested Fiddleheads, which was conveniently just steps away. Located in the basement of Code's Mill, a beautiful limestone building, built in 1842 and overlooking the Tay River, the spot is truly stunning to look at. Inside, the space is warm and inviting, with lots of exposed stone and wood. We were greeted with a genuine smile and a lovely Irish accent. Drinks were ordered and delivered. Pizza was suggested as a specialty. We decided to try a pie. We ordered a pie with onions caramelized in Perth Brewery beer, tomatoes, blue cheese and rough cut bacon. It sounded delicious. The pie looked spectacular. It turned out that the crust was a bit heavier than we expected and the combined salt of the cheese and bacon were a bit over powering. While the pizza wasn't quite as good as we had hoped, an afternoon snack is more about the vibe and overall enjoyment. As a package deal, Fiddleheads was fantastic and we will be sure to visit the next time we are in town. read more

We stopped here for lunch. We had our small dog with us so we decided to take out food and eat across the street in Stewart Park. We had the Thai salad with shrimp, a Caesar salad with scallops, pierogies and the jalapeño cheddar soup. It was all very delicious and will definitely go back. read more

I had the rosemary grilled chicken supreme. I chose the rice pilaf as my side dish option and it also came with 3 pieces of carrot, a couple string beans and 3 green pepper slices. For $21.95, I expected a substantial meal. The chicken was a very small portion with very little taste. The rice pilaf was plain white rice. The saving grace was that they have Goose Island IPA on draught. I will not go back here the next time I am in town for work. read more

I had lunch there. Besides the picturesque spot overlooking Stewart park and the water this restaurant offers a wide range of foods... . I had a hard time choosing because a lot of it is pub type fare (heavy, cheesy, fried, pizza, pasta, etc. ) I settled on the Grilled Vegetable Napoleon - and that was SO the right choice for me... delicate, haute cuisine experience... layered grilled eggplant, peppers, zucchini, topped with a dollup of goat cheese and marinated artichoke, all drizzled with balsamic vinegar and a little olive oil .. I added grilled chicken and it was wonderful. Dinner choices seem worth trying but lunch is mostly pub food selections. NOTE that there is only one Fiddleheads in Perth and it is on 53 Harriott not on Wilson. read more

My wife and I went to Fiddleheads today, Friday October 3rd at 1:00pm for a nice lunch. We've been there before and enjoyed it so we were looking forward to this meal. We were led into the dining room, it looked to be about 1/4 full, they have tables in two's, fours's and booth/table combos. Because of my disability (I am thalidomide with two short arms), I find it easier for me to sit at a booth, so I asked to be seated at a booth after the waitress led us to a tiny table for two. She told us they couldn't do that. They have a policy stating they have to seat two people at tables for two only and always. I responded by saying, 'But it's not busy.' She said, 'It might get busy'. I shook my head in disgust and said, 'Never mind, we are leaving.' She said ok. I walked over by the bar as I know the manager is usually there, I was going to have a word with him but another waitress came over and I explained the problem. Again, she stood behind 'policy'. I knew then that even IF I got the manager to change his policy for me, I had no appetite for that establishment anymore. So we went up the street and had lunch at O'Reilly's!! What a great experience! Great lunch, great atmosphere, great staff. I will tell everyone who listens how Fiddleheads treated me. read more

i've eaten here a couple times and it's pretty good, but i want it to be so much better - it's just lacking in flavor and spice. we had lunch here on a wednesday afternoon, and i know perth has alot of grey hairs and they certainly were out for lunch so maybe they just know their customer and that's the deal.....but such a great building and area i want it to be awesome. it's such a foodie spot, but the food falls short, give the chef a chance to have some fun. read more

I had cream of spinach soup on Tuesday Oct. 1, 2019. The soup was okay but the bread served with it was flavourless and the whipped combo of butter/margarine was also tasteless. I asked the waitress what those globs were that were served with the bread and she said it was whipped margarine and butter. AND the colour was white. Serve either margarine or butter please and not white!!! People who were served coffee and tea had a choice of cream or milk. read more

Disappointing. Our salad appeared in seconds, obviously pre-prepared complete with dead disintegrating leaves. We ordered the duck which came shortly after the ding of a microwave which was good except that it was drenched in an all to sweet sauce. The atmosphere and the service was excellent, too bad for the food. read more

Not family friendly at lunch time. And don't expect management to treat you with any respect if you come to them to discuss an issue. My family and I have been been dining at Fiddleheads for almost ten years. But I can honestly say after the way I was treated today I will never be returning. My friend and I came in with my two year old daughter for lunch. It was after noon on Easter Monday and the restaurant was almost entirely empty. We were sat at the very back, behind the coat rack next to a dirty dusty air vent. We asked our server very politely if we could be seated in the main part of the restaurant in a booth or one of the more central tables where it was nicer. The server told us no and said exactly this "no, I have to save those tables in case it gets busy." Firstly, it was afternoon on a holiday and it was empty. If it was going to get busy, it would have been by that point. Plus we are the "busy". We are the customers here wanting to dine! Secondly to say you're saving it for other people is exactly like saying you're saving it for more desirable customers - without children. So we sat in the back, because the waitress made it clear that was the only option we had, trying to have a conversation over the loud plumbing noises coming from the back wall. My daughter quietly ate her lunch and made less noise than some of the diners in the main part of the restaurant. When I was paying our bill, I spoke to the manager and very politely told him I felt discriminated against because I was with my child. He told me exactly "My server wouldn't say that." I asked him if he thought I was lying to him and he was INCREDIBLY rude and just kept repeating that his server wouldn't say that. He offered no apologies and continued to imply that I wasn't being truthful. He said he wanted to get the story from the server. I'm not sure what motivation I would have to lie about something like that. I had already paid for my meal and was looking for acknowledgement that what happened wasn't ok and he was sorry. But he couldn't even do that. Then he went to serve another customer and left me standing there, so I left. I'm never one to complain to management about things that go wrong in restaurants, so I was really surprised to be treated like this. I can understand automatically sitting families in a more private area at the back, but if a customer asks to not be secluded, it is unacceptable to be discriminatory against them. They should be treated equally as everyone else is. And management should be able to handle situations like this with more tact and diplomacy and should never imply that a customer would be lying about events that transpired. I am honestly disgusted. I am from Perth and my family run a hospitality business so I can say that there are plenty of fantastic places to dine in town that don't treat their (lifelong) clientele like trash. Try Bistro 54, O'Reilleys or Maximilian's. All make amazing food, and you will get fantastic service! read more
