Hello Fellow Woolies, A year ago, I decided I need to make a sweater for my grandson and connect to my ancestral roots in Lithuania. I didn't even know how to cast on a stitch! Alisha patiently helped me accomplish this goal; and here I am making sweaters for my daughter and myself and doing "three-needle bind off" patterns to make hoodies for my grandson. I have friends asking me to knit for them Brooke has been so helpful with private lessons - I have learned a lot!! There are so many workshops ongoing - Brooke's Brioche, Color Work(Goal to make a Faire Isle sweater)and cable stitch. Gayle is another great instructor for sweater and cardigan workshops, with options for different styles. Looking forward to her sock workshop! I had the pleasure of stopping by Fiber Circle Studio last weekend with my mom. She highly recommended checking them out, and I'm so glad we did. Some other yarn shops can feel very gatekeeper-ish in my experience, but I didn't get that vibe at all here. As soon as I stepped in, I was greeted warmly by a table full of people and an employee leading a class or group. I didn't require any assistance, but the employee made a point to come over and briefly check-in in an unobtrusive way, which was much appreciated. The space is bright and airy, and the merchandising is on point. They have a surprisingly good variety of yarn, considering the space isn't gigantic (I'm used to Dharma over in San Rafael). Things are clearly labeled and priced, and patterns are available for knitting and crochet, ranked by difficulty, along with a list of where you can find them online. My mom ended up buying some lovely yarn that was made in the USA. Overall, the vibes were great-- it seemed like they were having some kind of class in the back, and it sounded like people were having fun. I perused their website and was impressed by the variety of workshops they offer. They also offer scholarships to workshops, which I don't think I've seen any other yarn store do. I had a dye class to attend and needed 100% wool yarn that I could dye. The lady working was super helpful and tried looking up the yarn that I picked. She gave me recommendations and I ended up going with this beautiful yarn that started out white. This is the color it was after I did a solar dye with acid dyes during the class. The store is amazing and has so much to offer. It is clean and organized and easy to find things on your own. I really appreciate the finished products that are sprinkled around the store to give inspiration. read more

I have never seen this particular store before, but it was so welcoming and inspiring inside!! The lady greeted me at the door, and they have a bunch of books as well as different types of thread and yarn. I am starting to get back into crochet and knitting, they actually do classes here you can sign up for! There is also looms in the back, where they teach you how to weave!! There's a bunch of patterns as well as displays that tell you how much yarn you'll need to make each garment! Beautiful colors, textures, and different yarn made out of everything from wool to Kashmir! Every little artisan dream!! I will definitely be back!! read more

Dipping my toe into fiber arts is what I meant to do but instead I wound up enrolling in a 6-week weaving workshop held at Fiber Circle Studio. My mother knitted and sewed and walking into a store like this was her sweet spot but it's never been mine. Having spent 6 evenings at Fiber Circle Studio though, I can well understand how it comes to be a favored place. The workshop here was extremely well run (by Marta Shannon) and I unexpectedly wound up with a very impressive neck scarf that's likely to make people assume I have some weaving talent. While taking the class I was able to enjoy the environment in the shop as well as peruse its offerings. They have a full array of yarns and kits and books and classes/workshops with materials not just for learning or improving your knit/crochet/weaving project, but also punch needle, embroidery, and felting. I'd not hesitate to take another class or workshop here and if I were in the area and needed any materials for a fiber project Fiber Circle Studio would certainly be my first stop. read more

VERY nice yarn shop!!! On Kentucky Street - lots of street parking (free). This shop is large, with big open ceilings and has a very warm feeling. There is a couch and some chairs so you can hang out and do your crafty thing! Gorgeous selection of yarns and accessories. I didn't end up buying anything but I will most definitely come back when I have that special project in mind and I need just the right yarn. They have embroidery supplies too. The employee was very friendly and kind. If you're a yarn person, I definitely recommend a visit!! read more

Fantastic yarn store with a great selection. I've taken several classes and enjoyed them all. The staff are super nice and helpful and Alisha, the owner, has built a wonderful community around her shop. There's also a weekly craft social and fiber related trips to places like Peru. Update: I took a beginning knitting class and it was fantastic! I learned the basics, got to meet others in the same boat, and had a fun time. Got to work with high quality yarn and take it home! Also got to take home the knitting needles and a tapestry needle to finish the project. A great into to knitting. I can't wait to take another class. read more

I have taken two classes at fiber circle studio. Knitting and yarn dyeing. I loved both of those classes. The studio atmosphere is wonderful and I've met a lot of great people in the classes I took. I also love the social events that fiber circle studio hosts, craft nights are such a fun way to meet other crafters and enjoy a fun night together. I could spend hours at this studio! I really wanted to learn to weave. Fiber Circle Studio helped make that happen. After completing just one weaving project with the guidance of Alicia, I had the skill and confidence to start a new project on my own. Being a member and working at the studio is awesome, as there are no dishes to do or emails to answer. Plus, there is almost always someone working on an interesting project to learn from and motivate me. I'd highly recommend Fiber Circle Studio to beginners like myself, or to experienced fiber artists just looking for a space to work. read more

This place is so incredibly beautiful - you can tell that the lady who put it together is super passionate about fiber arts. They have a huge selection of beautiful tools like looms, spinning and carding supplies, and even stuff for dyeing, including a community indigo vat that is super cool! I attended heir World Wide Knit In Public Day event and it was so sweet, I couldn't imagine a better way to spend a day. I'm looking forward to taking some classes here - they always have a great selection of teachers on their newsletter. That little town is so lucky to have such a wonderful workshop space! read more

Fiber Circle Studio is such a great gem to have in Cotati and is totally worth the short drive if you live elsewhere in Sonoma or Marin Counties! If you're into fiber arts but don't own a lot of the equipment you need to do things like spin and dye yarn or weave on a large loom, then you should absolutely become a member of Fiber Circle so you can access their tools and equipment. You can also get a day pass if you just have a quick project or want to check it out before committing. And if you're not already a fiber fanatic, they have so many awesome classes, many of which aren't really fiber related at all, and lots of beginner level workshops. So you can take a class, like shibori dying or knitting or planting succulents, and learn a new skill! It's great to have a space like this in Sonoma County. :) read more
