Recently went to Feroza for food. I was really impressed the food was really good. The roti was soft and fresh and the curry chicken was great and well seasoned. It tends to get packed but that's just a sign of a great place to eat. The place is cash only but the food is great, so fork over the cash and just eat. read more

It's just ok food to me. I had got oxtails and a chicken roti, with a banana soda and an apple juice spritzer. Oh and some kind of round balls made of dough with something to dip them in. An empty restaurant with a nice lady inside. The best thing I can say I had was the banana soda. Delicious. Anyway I prefer oxtails made from the Jamaicans. Ive had better Trinidad food from Brooklyn, and Ive come to realize that I will not be eating anymore food from any Trinidad restaurant. I dont really care for the way they make their food, or the type of food they make. Its not that all of the food is bad, its just I dont crave for anything that they specialize in. I Tried... I really did...this food is not good. I ordered the stew chicken, curry chicken, and a curry chicken roti (I was given beef). The curry chicken was bone-in, it was tough to pull apart and dry. The "stew chicken" was previously fried chicken with a red almost sweet and sour sauce on it. The roti had 5 pieces of meat in it, and I had so much roti skin left because of lack of filling , I could have made two more roti. I know you tried Bx with this one, I have to pass. This is my favorite roti spot on NYC. Ali's in Bx is ok but the curry isn't as flavorful. Ali's in Brooklyn is good but inconsistent; sometimes they skimp on the filling or the flavor is off or both. Feroza has been on point every time I've eaten their food. The Good: The curry chicken is flavorful and the roti skin is buttery, light, perfect. My favorite is the oxtail but the chicken, shrimp and conch are delish too. The Bad: Get there early especially on weekends because they do run out. So on Friday the fiance and I had a craving for roti and decided to give Feroza's a try. There were only three people ahead of us when we walked in, but by the time we gave our order a long line had formed behind us, so clearly this place is a neighborhood favorite. Admittedly, service was a bit slow but it seemed to be a special case. There was only one woman available at the moment to serve so it took a few minutes longer than it should, but this wasn't too much of a problem. The woman was very nice and served us with a smile. I ordered the oxtail roti while my fiance had the veggie, and we both ordered doubles with tamarind sauce. The oxtail roti was the most expensive one ($10) on the menu, and I almost didn't get it for this reason, but I couldn't resist. I will admit, the oxtail pieces were a bit small and bony for the price, but the flavor definitely made up for it. The meat was tender and fell right off the bone - absolutely delicious. The doubles were also very good, full of flavor. I ate mine well before my fiance ate his, so I was forced to sit and watch in envy while he devoured it. Next time I'm getting more than one each! I can't wait to go back to try the rest of the roti, especially the goat. I also noticed some fried dumplings, saltfish fritters, and plantain back there that I'll probably try some of, too. The NE Bronx definitely has its fair share of Caribbean food joints (especially near & around White Plains Road) and Feroza's is definitely one of the best. This place is by my church & I have to say their food is BOMB!!! Everything from Curry to Oxtails, etc. i just dont like how they close early. All the other West Indian shops close after 10pm but here. When I go to church, Im guaranteed to come here for it to be closed after church. Had it on several occasions with the fam and we've sampled an array of their roti- chicken, beef, goat etc. For those spice heads- get with hot pepper inside. Super tasty! This is the quintessential Trinidadian joint where eating in means choosing from 1 of 4 small tables in the back that cascade into darkness. This is a good back up Roti shop in the Bronx. Years ago I used to love Ali's but they fell off and I fell out of love. The shrimp rotis are VERY good, period! They sell the best meat (goat, chicken, beef, shrimp, etc) rotis. I will buy it at any price and will travel from anywhere to get one. I've been coming here since I was a teenager and the rotis are the best quality and taste. They make the rotis from scratch every morning to have a good stock to start but keep making them fresh throughout the day on a grill that can do 3 rotis at a time. After 37 years they know the cadence and rhythm of making them. I have had rotis far wide and nothing tastes as good as a Feroza's roti. They are in that same little place on Burke Avenue and the son (I think) and daughter (I think) are still running the roti shop. I haven't seen the mom lately and I'm afraid to ask. She's such a lovely woman. Knows everyone in the neighborhood, still remembered me after years of living away and coming maybe once or twice a year. And to my pleasant surprise her daughter (I think) welcomed me with a warm smile of remembrance when I showed up with my daughter and my niece last week to get a batch of rotis. read more

So my boyfriend and I were in the mood for some Caribbean food and I happened to find this little gem from yelp. The food is delicious. For dinner he ordered a large plate of oxtails rice and peas. The sauce was on the oxtails was so savory and homey. I ordered curry goat and roti. The Roti is one of the best I've had. It's not easy making good roti & my boyfriend who never cares for roti enjoyed some too. The portions served were more then generous. I would definitely come back. It's not a place you go to for decor it's a place you go to for good quality authentic Caribbean food. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area. Great food for lunch!! Portions are big and flavor is on point. I usually get the oxtail with rice and it's delicious!! Would definitely recommend you trying the oxtail if you haven't already.
