It was lovely talking to her. The shop is full of all kinds of little things and the very special part was the clock goes off every hour on the hour. It's a definite messy while you're in town so try to time it accordingly or stop and have your lunch across the street or just stall in the gift shop walking around until the clock goes off. You don't wanna miss it. It is a little off on time so plan to be there five minutes ahead so you don't miss it.

Nearby is Folklore Bookshop, and I hope they are benefitting from the crowds because my visit left a lasting impression that I still recall fondly. Yes, there's an amazing selection of books and cute gifts. Yes, it's quaint and cozy. There's a dog (or there was that day). Also a roaring fireplace and an area to gather or read or both - but that's just a short list of what makes this place special. As you are browsing the shelves, you'll see notecards handwritten by staff with an overview of a book they've read and enjoyed shared in the most relatable way. Their passion for reading really comes through here and that is everything!!! Props to Quinn for including a spooky meter where applicable. Everyone I interacted with was so friendly and helpful, and you can just feel that they loved being there as much as I did. Plus - free bookmark with purchase! One car had high ceilings and bigger windows than the other; we were assigned to the smaller one but thankfully got to switch halfway through as our ride was not crowded. The bigger car is much more spacious and feels less claustrophobic. The heat is what killed us. The lack of AC during the summer is brutal. It got better with time but for 80% of the ride was uncomfortably hot. Keep in mind if you're planning to visit in the summer. Beautiful views, concessions for purchase, and friendly staff.

The train was packed and the ride itself was no more than an hour and a half total. It was cool to see the trains but I'm not sure that I would do it again. They did have an old time "sheriff" on board who cracked a few jokes. They also had folks playing the fiddle who played some classic songs and took requests on the way back. Primarily though you are on board to enjoy the ride. Their themed rides may be a little more fun depending on what you're into. If you want to kill an hour or two, this will fill your time. They do have restrooms and a small gift shop where you check in before you board.
