I mean, the food is delicious. There's no denying that. But. I waited for 20 minutes AFTER my companion had been served her meal for my food to arrive and, well, it's just a little awkward watching someone eat for 20 minutes while your eyes keep darting to their plate and you have to say, "Oh no, totally, please go ahead. I'm fine!" when you're actually starving. Even the table next to us commented on how long it took for my food to come.
The sourdough toast though, is so, so good. Slightly chewy on the inside, crunchy around the crust - all the yums. But (again). I ordered a sparkling water and when it arrived, I discovered that it had a slightly salty taste to it (as some mineral waters do). I kept on trying to slug it but at one point, I kind of gagged. Embarrassed, I explained the situation to the waitress who shrugged and said, "What can I do? That is what Vichy Catalana tastes like." Sorry, but the brand of the water wasn't on the menu (in fact, none of the soft drinks were on the menu) and I was made to feel like a real idiot for not liking salty, bubbling water. MY BAD. She did take it off the bill, but I stuck to tap water in the end.
I'll probably go back ... though I won't order the sparkling water and I won't arrive hangry. Or maybe that means I shouldn't go back? I don't know. This place confuses me. read more
