I took my BMW there with a coolant leak. The owner Juan was questionable from the beginning, telling me he needed to replace the Oil Filter Housing for $2600 to fix the leak. When I asked him to send pictures, he told me, "I don't have time for that!." I called another mechanic, who didn't need my business, but advised me to get my car out of this place if he said he didn't have the time to send pictures. I decided to have good faith since my car was already there. What a terrible call that was. Always go with your intuition. He completed it in one day and told me it was fixed but the car cont to leak for the next 6 months until the engine lost all its fluid a once and the engine shut down. I had it towed to BMW where they found that the major leak was coming from the Oil Filter Housing Gaskets and that whoever had done the work used after market and inappropriate parts for a high compression engine, and that's why it failed. Then I had to pay for the whole/same job to be done again, as a result. basically I had to pay for the work that Foreign Auto Care did, again, to have it done right, and Foreign Auto Care will not reimburse me. He told me I should have brought it back to him. Why would you take a car back to someone that 1. doesn't listen. 2. doesn't prioritize customer service. 3. did a bad job the first time, using inappropriate parts, and resulted in an engine shut down and the same job needing to be redone. The trust is gone at that point. That's not a reasonable thing to do. Just a smoke screen on his part. In addition, when I originally picked my car up after Foreign Auto Care replaced the Oil Filter Housing, the engine light was suddenly on. It wasn't on before. He ran a code stating he needed to do the spark plugs too. When he was done, the engine light came back on again. I took it somewhere else and they stated that the wrong spark plugs were used, and had to re do the spark plugs so engine light would go off. I had to pay for that twice as well and Foreign Auto Care refused to reimburse. It's all clearly documented and he won't take accountability, so I have to present it is small claims and with Bureau of Automotive Repair.

I want to share my experience with Acme Auto Repair. I own a…read more1955 Chevy show truck. I brought it in to have a stainless steel gas line installed. I needed this completed for a car show over the Father's Day weekend in Calistoga. I noticed some classic cars parked outside of this shop, so I took the chance. I purchased the new gas line, fittings, and a rubber flexible line that connects the gas tank line to the new fuel line that runs along the frame rails. I informed the shop that I wanted the new gas line to run parallel with the vacuum advance line, which is located at the front of the engine. When I was told the truck was ready for pickup, the office manager informed me that a new fitting was purchased for the connection of the fuel line and gas tank. I asked why the flexible line was not used, and she said, "Ken did not know where to connect that flexible line." This is the point I was concerned. When my truck was picked up and brought to me, I noticed the new gas line was bent under the cab and redirected along the engine block. This line is fabricated to match the original line route, designed in 1955. Now Ken bent it and changed the design. I spoke to Ken, and he said he would bend this line back. I know about fuel lines, especially stainless steel; you are not able to bend it and replicate the original straight line (try to remove a wrinkle out of foil paper). At the car show, a few car builders asked me about the fuel line and why I ran it along the engine block, and how it should have run down the frame rails and then 45 degrees towards the gas pump. When I asked them if the line could be bent back, they smirked and said," NO". Now I am out $72.95 for the line and $238.00 for the labor. Acme Auto may perform good work on other cars, but do not take your classic vehicle for detailed work. A young man I met at a nearby restaurant recommended Advanced Auto Service, saying the owner spoke Vietnamese, so I decided to support a local business. I called ahead around 2:15 p.m., and Charlie answered. He explained they were busy and asked me to come the following day, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, my experience after arriving was very disappointing. While checking in, Charlie repeatedly complimented my appearance and asked me for a hug. I felt uncomfortable but gave him a brief hug, trying to be polite. As we continued talking, he asked me several personal questions, including whether I lived alone and whether I had a boyfriend. Although I understood he needed some of my information for their customer records, the personal questions and repeated requests for hugs made me increasingly uncomfortable. Later, after showing me the different oils they use, he asked for another hug. When we walked outside so I could leave my vehicle overnight, he asked for yet another hug. This time I tried to pull away, but during the interaction he touched my left breast. I immediately told him that I did not like being touched. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable leaving my vehicle there. When I got home, I realized how uneasy the entire experience had made me feel. Because I no longer felt safe returning by myself, I arranged for my neighbor to drive me back the next morning to retrieve my vehicle. As a woman, I expect to be treated professionally when I visit an auto repair shop. I am there for vehicle service not to be hugged multiple times or asked personal questions unrelated to my vehicle. I cannot recommend this shop based on my personal experience. I hope this feedback encourages more professional boundaries with customers so that everyone feels respected and comfortable during their visit.
