At 8am today hardly any shopping baskets when you come out n main entrance and ones that were there had garbage in most of them. Again lazy staff. Vegetables like celery and broccoli rubbery to the touch always. Mushrooms are always spotted and brown In the bakery this morning I found a chocolate cake that was 3 days past best before date. Not the first time I have seen this all over the store. When I pointed it out to staff they seemed like they didn't care. Poor management and poor work ethics would be my guess to these problems. I've been shopping here for 4 years now and have seen these problems start a few years ago. Probably going to start shopping elsewhere.

It's an early corn season and I've always tried to get Chilliwack corn way too late! So after…read morechecking out some popular places I came across Sparkes. Just off the road in a cute and bright little green and yellow barn. The first time I've ever gone through a 'corn drive thru'! It is $11.50 per baker's dozen (13 ears) but hey, it's local. They are open daily from 10-6pm, I came on a Saturday and the line flowed well Pretty simple and quick process, you drive up to the counter , tell them how much you want and pay. They take card or cash. I believe they also sell strawberries but I did not inquire about it. The corn is pre bagged for you so you don't get to choose. When steamed they become a rich yellow colour. Large, full kernals on each ear that burst with juiciness and sweetness as you taking a bite. If you though the corn you get from grocery stores are sweet this is next level up! The sweetness is a flavour that I can't describe accurately enough through words - just so sweet and yummy! The corn is crisp and delicious down to the core. I brought it share with my family and neighbors and they all said it was so delicious.You haven't had Chilliwack corn until you've tried Sparkes corn!

However, my mother in law always grabs the back bacon from here which is less fattier and leaner than the conventional bacon that you would buy at supermarkets. It comes in vacuum sealed package as a solid piece and there's barely any fat/oil rendered when you fry up the bacon. It's definitely a treat for the weekend brunch at home. Try out their bacon if you're ever at Fraser Valley Meats!

It came with Focaccia bread and balsamic vinegar for dipping. The bread was very good, especially paired with balsamic vinegar. The entrée, however, I did not enjoy very much. The white cream sauce lacked flavour and consistency, the pasta tasted like rubber and the shrimp (prawns) are overall average at best. The service was very good, and the establishment seemed clean and nice-looking in its countenance. I do not know if it was what I ordered or something else that was wrong. However, it will be a while before I try Frankie's Italian again.

Just recently my wife myself and my daughter went to Earl's to have dinner and to use the Gift card at that time. We gave the server (Makayla) the gift card, as we sat down. She said that she would take the amount off of the bill. We had dinner and it was decent just not a lot of food on our plates. I usually don't eat there because I find it very expensive. With the gift card it's not so bad. When we received the bill I didn't notice that she had not removed the gift card amount off of the bill. I noticed the next day when I was going though my credit card. I had been charged the full amount of the bill ($123.81). No problem right? I phoned the restaurant manger to have this resolved, and ask to have a refund of the $100 as they had my gift card at the store. He said they don't under no circumstances give any refunds. The manger said they had the gift card in their safe and I could pick it up and use again for a future dinner or give it to somone else. Now I have to pay twice for very mediocre food ($123.81 the first time and $18.96 the second time). I asked him, if I had not seen that my credit card was overcharged what would happen to the gift card. He said that if it's not pick up, then the server would get it. I guess Mikayla would get $100 extra tip. I called the head office and left a message which said they would contact me within 48 hours. I'm still waiting for that call, which was over three weeks ago. Maybe a lot of you like eating at Earl's but just make sure that you aren't over charged.

Good…read morething I didnt see her go to get butchered but Johnston is where she went & its a very professionally run shop that packed our meat and made delicious bacon & sausages for less than the price at a supermarket. If you know a farmer & you have children its a great learning experience to feed an animal & see it being raised. Howevever I still must detatch myself & cannot bear to see it get killed & didnt w Penelope the pig . We visited & fed her. I still must call pork food & nota former farm animal. Really makes me consider being a vegetarian.
