I thought I would check out Park Ridge Vacuum, which had some positive feedback from community members. It was the right choice; it exemplifies all that is great about small business: personal service from real knowledgable experts in their product. Rosemary is the owner of Park Ridge Vacuum, along with her husband, and they've been here for decades. They carry several different brands. I was interested in a canister vacuum so she introduced me to Miele (which I learned is pronounced me-la) and Sebo. Both are exceptional brands, made in Germany. I hadn't heard of the latter, but it was a nice machine. It also had some cool hiding spaces for the accessories! That one came with a 10 year warranty and a turbo head for the price, and though I did consider it, ultimately I chose the Miele. It was competitively priced and has a 5 year warranty. Here at PRV, at least, they send you home with a box of bags. I love that the attachments are hidden in the body of the machine. It's relatively quiet, easy to operate, and the "park" function for the vacuum is really convenient. And as an unexpected bonus, my toddler didn't cower from the vacuum; this time she insisted on using it. The shop does repairs, too. They have a small parking lot on the south side of the building. They are worth the visit to get great service and get a product that will reliably last you decades.

Nothing major, surface level scuffs that could be buffed out. Their pricing on some models is unique because you won't find that in big box stores. Many appliances were SS, fewer of either black or white. Pricing. For example an LG electric stove with air fryer tech for half the regular price is unheard of. That model easily sells for clear over $1200. I'm curious whether the original warranty is still valid or this shop offers extended warranties. You're wondering why I didn't get this info from a salesman? Me too. There was a person there but he was on the phone for the duration of my visit. I asked a few questions about appliances, sizes and what they have available. He was less than helpful and his body language gave me the impression he wasn't interested in selling today. Used appliance shops can be like this, but this was different. If he was more outgoing and provided details, I may have purchased an appliance on the spot. Pricing seemed too good to be true. Details matter though.. However small are needed. Delivery cost? Install cost? It's the delivery charges & installation costs that can be over the top in used appliance shops. They offer big brands and many were up to 50% off. I'll have to wait to see reviews and then circle back in the future.

When I showed it to the guy at Faucet Guy -- likely THE 'guy' in Faucet Guy -- he could have easily sold me a new one--but instead, he explained that all I really needed to do was take the coupler from the old hose and attach it to the new one. Problem solved. No unnecessary purchase, no upselling--just honest, helpful advice. He saved me money, gave me a simple fix I wouldn't have figured out on my own, and showed that he genuinely cares about his customers. That kind of integrity is rare.
