A fantastic burger. Great buns, fantastic combination of toppings, flavourful patty, and everything came together well. Is it one of the best burgers I've ever had? Not quite, but a great option if you're in the area. However, the onion rings were painfully mediocre. You only get a few of them for the price, and the texture and flavor wasn't anything special. Get the burger, pass on the rings.
Visiting Ferburger, standing in line, and the anticipation to finally taste this burger was great fun! If I'm being honest though, although the burger was pretty good, it's not something I would stand in line for again. We tried the Fergburger Deluxe and fries. Again, it's just a pretty good burger.
Good burgers (4/5), long lines but they move quick! Food- Ferg burger double (4/5) good quality meat in a sesame bun, your traditional burger. I would recommend a single and not a double as the patty's are meaty. Service: friendly, long lines but it moves quickly! Overall about 20 minutes of waiting in line then about 10-15 minutes after order is placed. Atmosphere: it's a causal spot but FLOODED with customers. You'll be lucky to get a seat. Overall it's hyped up more than what it is but it's worth checking out!
OKAY YUM - this place is insane! I was here on a Saturday night and the line was Long but it moved quick - super efficient operation. We got the holier than tho and the codfather both were DELCICIOUS! the burgers were huge and perfectly seasoned, somehow those buns weren't soggy! The waitress was so nice and when we told her we were on our honeymoon she gave us a free wine bottle
Fergburger is easily the most famous restaurant in Queenstown - if you even mention you're going to Queenstown, people will tell you that you have to try Fergburger. The line for Fergburger was LONG and I mean like a whole block long out the door long and I was told that that's not even bad for them. Fergburger offers a whole list of different burger and sandwich combos along with fries, shakes, etc. For flying all the way across the world from the United States, Fergburger sells quite an American cuisine. After about 20-30 min of waiting, we got up to order and placed our order. They give you a number and then you wait another bit longer for your food to be ready. They'll show your number on a screen when it's your time. The bummer is that it's absolutely way too packed to sit down considering there's only a few tables so you pretty much have to take it to go. Honestly, the burger was solid but in my opinion, each US city has 10+ better burger shops than Fergburger. The burger was good don't get me wrong, but did not live up to the hype. The fries were great however!
Food: 4.9/5 Service: 2.8/5 Value: 4.7/5 The hype of the town and boy does the line make you feel the hype. Even in the rain, we had to wait 10 minutes just to order. Luckily the stores nearby typically have rain covers and the rain was relatively light. However, the wait was absolutely worth it, and I'll remember this as one of the best burgers I've had. Just to get all of my complaints out of the way. It is really difficult to find anywhere to sit and actually enjoy the burger. There are so many tourists and so few spots, just expect to have to enjoy this burger somewhere else. On a sunny day, would strongly recommend just going by the lake, but on a rainy like what we experienced, it was super difficult. Now, onto the food! Ferg Deluxe: Holy crap this burger was so good.... The combination of the well seasoned, tender patty with the bacon, relish were incredible. Honestly, when I first took a bite of this burger, I was just blown away and instantly knew it was different from the other burgers I've had. I can't give enough praise to how well Fergburger executes their staple. Sweet Bambi: Honestly after the Ferg Deluxe, this was quite the letdown. The deer was not as well seasoned but the boysenberry sauce was quite good. It just didn't have the "wow" factor that the Ferburger has. Altogether a decent burger but would probably just recommend getting the restaurant staple.
Burger still amazing! Lots of options including fish, chicken, venison & more.."gourmet"style burgers with all the fixings but super casual joint. Busy and lively buzz here all the time so plan on bringing patience with your appetite. . Service is quick& friendly. Love it here... can't leave town without trying! Oh, they just had their 25th anniversary. They have a bakery next door and a bar now too.
My husband bookmarked this place, and our hotel concierge also recommended it, so it seemed like a must-try spot. I was warned that the line can be quite long usually 30 to 45 minutes but when I arrived around 2:30 pm on a Friday, there were only about five people ahead of me. I waited roughly five minutes before ordering. I ordered the Double Patty with cheese for $21.50, the Southern Swine for about $18.50, a Hokey Pokey milkshake for $12.50, and onion rings for $9.90. The staff mentioned that my order number would appear on the monitor in about 15 minutes, and that was pretty accurate. We were lucky to get a seat inside as there are only about four tables--but there's additional bench seating outside where most people eat. We sat by the bar stoolsl where one of the cooks was grilling patties and toasting buns, which was fun to watch. Next door, there's also a bar, a bakery, and a gelato shop, which makes the Ferg empire lively. As for the food, the burger was juicy but not particularly flavorful. I did like the avocado, though the burger itself was huge--I couldn't finish it. The onion rings were a bit greasy, and when I opened the box, it was only half full, whereas others seemed to get more generous portions. Not a big deal since I couldn't finish mine anyway, but worth noting. Everything moved pretty efficiently overall. However, there's only one unisex bathroom, and the line can get long. Unfortunately, it also smelled quite bad, definitely an area they should improve.

There's a tv monitor inside showing when orders are ready, and there's also a restroom available. Great flavor, big portions, and fast service. Definitely worth stopping by when you're in Queenstown.
We heard this place was once ranked as No. 1 burger place in the world by CNN or something so we decided to give you a try. This place always has a line rain or shine, no matter number one or not, it's definitely one of the most loved restaurants in Queenstown. The line usually moves pretty fast, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They walked along the line passing around the menus and giving you an estimate of the current wait time for food. Ordering was very easy and efficient. Not sure if it's the expectation or the over-hyped before trying the food. I'd say the patties are pretty juicy, food is good, but I wouldn't say it's the best burger I've ever had. They open pretty late, so it's perfect for late night snacks or craves.
I get the hype! Usually a massive line to order and may be worth it if you're patient. I went with a group after bar hopping around 11:30pm and there wasn't a line to order. You get a ticket and are told to wait outside. The only downside is they don't call your number lol. I noticed people after me, getting their food so I walked up to the window and handed them my ticket, they then prepared my order and basically handed it me right away. The burger is tasty and fries are great too! I'd say it's a must try if you're in town.

I asked what the most popular item was and she recommended the Ferg Deluxe ($19.90 NZD). I also got a side of Fries ($7.90) and Ginger Beer ($6). It was just me so I was easily able to find a seat at the counter. They have a tv behind the register where you can see which order numbers are ready. The food also came out in a reasonable time, maybe a bit less than 10 minutes. I wouldn't say that it's the juiciest burger and it wasn't life changing, but for the price it was pretty good. The burger was huge but I was still able to finish the whole burger surprisingly. They really did not skimp on any of the ingredients and I got a good mix of flavors with each bite. It's a pretty fast paced place and a lot of people take their orders to go. There's only a few tables inside so you'll have to be pretty lucky to get a spot. Like I said, it wasn't the best burger I've had in my life, but it's worth a try and you definitely get your money's worth. It's best to go off peak times because I always see a long line out front. I would still come back though to try some of their more unique burgers.
After landing in Queenstown, we found out the worlds most famous burgers are from here! Unfortunately there were only 2 vegetarian options, but the one we got was insanely good. These burgers are filled to the brim with sauce and protein. We got the tofu burgers that had 3 or 4 ginormous pieces of tofu in each. It was incredibly messy to eat but tasted amazing.

In our Queenstown research, we of course discovered Fergburger and knew we had to try it as two burger fans from the states. The first time we went was for lunch after ziplining when we had hit the line at a surprisingly short time. It moved quickly and we received our deluxe fergburger within 10 minutes of ordering. It was ginormous, but so so good! We had ordered squid rings as a side which were also solid. It was so good, we ended up coming back for breakfast to get an egg sandwich. Just as enormous, and yummy, as our lunch the previous day was! read more
WOW! Just wow! I was skeptical when Fergburger was mentioned as one of the world's best burgers, but was pleasantly surprised at how massive and delicious the burger was. We tried the following burgers: - The Fergburger - 5/5. Your standard burger and absolutely delicious! - Sweet Bambi - made with wild fjordland deer and a sweet chutney - 5/5 - Codfather - fish burger 5/5 The difference-maker with Fergburger is the delicious buns, which are made at neighboring Fergbaker. The meat patties are also huge and packed with flavor. There is always a line unless you show up at 8am, when we walked by early in the morning. Lines go quick and we waited ~30-min for burgers around lunchtime. Very limited seating in and outside. Recommend getting your burgers and sitting at the outdoor parks or by the pier. We only had 2-days in Queenstown and happened to eat at all "ferg" establishments (Fergburger, Fergbaker, and Mrs. ferg). They were just that good! read more

I got the Fergburger with cheese extra patty & cheese as well. The wait (I timed) from getting in line to getting the burger was 28 minutes. Which I would say it isn't bad. I was worried going into this it was going to be like the musical cats but luckily it wasn't. Would I wait that long again idk. But overall for the price, hype & taste I am happy I tried it. Personally as a Californian you can't beat in-n-out burger but this was definitely up there. read more
Perfect quick dinner on a rainy spring night. It was a little after 9pm when I called in our order. I like that they are open late, sometimes until 2:30am. And it's even better that the line and wait time are so short when it's this late and pouring down rain. We ordered one Ferg Burger, Kids cheeseburger and order of onion rings. They said it would be ready in 15min. It definitely was, maybe even 12min. They put your order number on the outdoor electronic board when it's ready. The burger was HUGE! Big bun. The sauce was excellent and the crisp tomatoes, red onions and lettuce were the perfect freshness. The meat was juicy, not fatty at all, and seasoned well. I couldn't finish the burger and I had a big appetite. Even the kids burger was big! Same as the Ferg burger but smaller. The onion rings were delicious and still crunchy hot by the time I got back to the hotel. 10min walk away. I would definitely order from here again. It would be awesome to try their other burgers like chicken or falafel. read more
"You can't leave Queenstown without visiting Fergburger." The hype of Fergburger is crazy. Highly rated, most reviewed on multiple platforms, first restaurant you see when researching, frequent posts on social media showing the long lines and food, and even overhearing it from other tourists. Yes, I did have Fergburger at the top of my list. The hype was real, but man, it felt as if this is the best burger in the entire country--the best you will ever have. A little overhyped? No, maybe a lot overhyped because I was not impressed. Fergburger is located in Queenstown Mall, along Shotover St. It's not hard to miss as it's the place with plenty of people in line or standing around waiting for their order. There are indoor and outdoor, and inside counter seating, but not too many. Everyone is just eyeing everyone out to see if anyone is leaving their seats and see if anyone else is eyeing the same seats. Luckily, we got counter seats with a small window view of the kitchen! I liked the variety of meats Fergburger offered such as lamb, Wild Fiodland deer, pork belly, blue cod, chicken tenderloins, chicken breast, and even falafel patties and tempura tofu for the vegetarians. Of course, having a burger, and being this is my first time, I got to order the beef! I went with the Ferg Deluxe that comes with bacon, cheddar, and sweet dill pickles versus the regular Fergburger. The main issue I had with the burger is the bun to meat ratio. The bun was quite big, and the bottom half of the bun was dense. It needed more toasting too! The burger patty was on the small side--closer to a smashed burger. The burger ate a bit on the dry side and was under seasoned. I was expecting a big, juicy burger that was full of meaty flavor and wonderful char taste but missed it all. The bacon helped, and the aioli sauce from the crispy and basic onion rings helped. But overall, the bun was just too big, dense, and made the whole burger bland and dry. My wife ordered the Bombay Chicken. The ginger and coriander yoghurt was tasty and gave the chicken flavor, but the chicken was overcooked, dry, and tough. The tasteless, dense bun also did not help. Her bun was even more dense than my burger! Watching the kitchen operate, I feel everyone is just trying to pump out everything as fast as they can because it's just so busy and it's non-stop. Get it on the grill, toss it on the bun, wrap, pack, and done. Our burgers were sloppy, but I understand. Overall, the food was nothing special. Perhaps next time I'll order double beef, or 3/4 lb beef? Hopefully the bun is better next time? Some of the photos of the buns look fine, but some recent ones look pale and smashed like ours. We'll see. Don't feel it's worth the wait in line plus the wait for food (which takes longer!). read more
The best burger in the work for me. Ground beef is so beefy and the tomatoes / lettuce/ ketchup wwere just right. The bread was never soggy, which I really liked I came back a few years later to try the steak burger, and OMG was the steak so tender. We got some leftover for the next morning's breakfast, and it was still good! My favorite burger place in the whole world. read more

Worth the wait! Various options for all dietary preferences. Burgers tasted fresh and onion rings were superb! My favorite side was the squid (ordered it 2 days in a row). Fries were okay. Line is long but don't let it scare you, goes by quickly. Also, be ready to eat outside on a bench because there isn't much dinning in space. read more
One of the most popular spots to eat at in queens town. If you're planning on eating here come about an hour- hour and a half before you want to actually eat. The line looks long but they were able to take our order within 20 minutes. We then had to wait about an hour for the actual food. I got the fergberger which was pretty good. Their meat is very tender as they take care of their cows well here in NZ. read more
Fun and tasty burger options but feels overhyped. The lines are incredibly long, and while the burgers were good, I didn't think it was worth the 30 min wait. My husband and I tried the Little Lamby (lamb burger) and Sweet Bambi (venison burger). It was our first time trying a venison burger, and the meat was noticeably salty. The buns on both of the burgers were a bit disappointing for us - they were pale in color and not as fluffy/soft as hoped. Flavor-wise, everything else was fine and good but unfortunately not memorable. We'd probably head elsewhere for dinner next time. read more

When in Queenstown, you gotta make a pilgrimage to Fergberger. Not that you can miss it, right there in the middle of the town with long lines at all times of the day. Every visitor to Queenstown wants to know what the big deal is all about. So, Ofcourse I gave in and queued up one early December evening. The line was long (30-40 people deep) but it moved fast. We were placing our order within 15 mins of getting in line. Seating is a bit of a problem. But you can always take your burgers to the waterside and eat with a view, which is what we saw a lot of people doing. Got the 2 veggie burgers (tofu and falafel) and a hamburger. No, I did not miss ordering the shakes that are made onsite with their own gelato/icecream. I enjoyed the tofu burger, actually have never had anything similar before. The buns were huge but they were good. The shake was meh (got the Hokey Pokey)! Is it the best burger in the world? No! Is it good? Yes! read more
Can't come to Queenstown and not get a Fergburger. There's always a line, but it goes fast. We happen to get there at a good time where the line was short and we were able to get a table in front. I had a burger with fries and wasabi mayo, the burger was good, but not as large as expected. The fries and wasabi mayo were amazing. I wanna put that mayo on everything. My friend had the lamb burger, she wasn't impressed. My other friend had the Big AL and loved it, it was huge. If you're looking for an authentic Ferg experience, this is the way to go. He liked it so much he went back the next day for another one, but decided to try the deer burger instead, wasn't as good. Tasted pretty much like a regular beef burger. Decent prices, quick, friendly service. A must try when visiting the South Island. read more
Fergburger! The spot to be in Queenstown! My wife and I came here twice in the few days we spent in town and we absolutely loved it. It's the perfect lunch spot. It's a simple burger that is done really well and the fries are great too. The trick is to call ahead and place the order so you're not stuck in line with a wait that can be anywhere from 30 min to 2 hours! Yes this place is that popular and it is always popping! The Fergburger deluxe is my favorite, grab it and eat it by the water for an excellent dining experience! read more
There's always a line. Depending on the day the line moves quick and other times it drags but def worth the wait. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. If you're going, you have to by their merchandise. The restaurant is always packed. There are people waiting outside for their number to be called. They are known for their burger which is ok but to be honest their other sandwiches is where it's at. The fries are crispy and fresh. The codfather was one of my favorite sandwich. The fish is delicious and very crispy. The pork belly was also excellent. The pork belly is so crispy and juicy. There is a sauce that they put into the sandwich that combines the salty and sweet flavors perfectly. read more

Oh Ferg, what else can I say that hasn't been said by everyone else. You're still the best takeaway burger I've ever had and I'm glad I went to see you twice during our measly 3 days back in Queenstown . I won't forget you Ferg! read more
Wow is this place busy! Lines down the sidewalk like magnet for every tourist in a 2km radius (myself included). We only stood in line for about 4-5 minutes though, it went fast and waited about 20 for food. I would recommend phone ordering ahead if you want to go and stick to the standard stuff or it takes longer. We had the Mr. Big Stuff (double with avocado) and Cockadoodle Oink (fried chicken and bacon) both were very good and the fries and onion rings were good. Overall an above average burger and evidently a Queenstown staple but not sure I'd wade through the crowds for it again. read more
Always a line out the door because it's the only burger place in town it seems. Burgers are large and fresh cooked to order. People rave about it, but I didn't think the meat had a very good flavor. I guess the difference between US versus New Zealand taste buds. The french fries were fine. You have to pay for more than one ketchup and frankly you need at least two to handle the onion rings or the french fries. Service was friendly, but this is takeout. Not easy to find a seat. read more
